11 days late and still negative pregnancy test, is there any hope?

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has any advice or similar experiences. DH and I have been trying for a long time, I usually have a 28-29 day cycle and AF turns up every month, never missed a period in my life. I'm now 11 days late, I've tested 4 times, last time being this morning. I've used Clear Blue, First Response and just regular Boots test results. All negative.

TMI incoming: I've had thick clear discharge that makes me constantly think that my period has started but no bleeding or spotting at all. I've had light cramping, much lighter than my normal period pains. And nausea, lack of appetite, feeling heavy? Not sure how to describe it.

Spoke to the Doctors last week and they said to leave it until this week. Spoke again today and they just said sometimes cycles do this, it's nothing to worry about, come back in 6 months is you still have not had a period! I explained I am always on time, and asked for a blood test. They've agreed to do a blood test next week but told me that home pregnancy tests are very accurate and it's much more likely to be my cycle. I'll be nearly four weeks late by the time the blood test is done.

I am trying to remain calm about it but to be honest I'm finding this incredibly distressing. We've been trying for so long, and it has always come within a few days, this feels different, but the test says not pregnant. I'm scared I want this so much I'm messing with my cycle. Has anyone else found this?

Stress can effect the cycles - have you had lots going on?

VeryHungryCaterpella · 23/01/2017 19:28

Actually far less stressed than previously, was due to ovulate over the Christmas holidays which were peaceful for the first time in quite a few years! GP asked about stress, but while that was definitely an issue last year this year has been much better so far and though my cycles used to be all over the place they have been pretty clockwork since I had DS.

Our body can play horrible tricks on us. Id honestly wait another month and go back to your GP. Note down dates and time of all possibly related symptoms cxx

DianaMitford · 23/01/2017 19:33

It is perfectly possible that you're pregnant. However all you can do is wait!
Maybe early scan??

Roseandbee · 23/01/2017 19:43

Fingers crossed for you. Some people do sometimes only test positive really late. The other option is maybe you were super late ovulating. Did u catch one of the Christmas bugs? Illness can delay it sometimes

VeryHungryCaterpella · 23/01/2017 19:52

Thank you OnNaturesCourse

I would love an early scan, to put my mind to rest one way or another , but considering the resistance my GP has had to just doing a blood test that seems unlikely. Should I push for it? I'm not really sure what to do. Do we just keep ttc at this point, not knowing where my cycle is at? I'm going to but some more tests and retest every 3/4 days.

Not late ovulating I don't think, (I'm doubting everything now!) and not unwell over Christmas. It's all just baffling.

I had a 67 day cycle in November, followed by 2x15 day cycles. Now on cd41. We just keep dtd, pretty much every day, in the hope that we catch an egg at some point! Good luck

Updating this thread I think mostly to keep myself busy now. But tomorrow will be two weeks late for AF. I did a cheap Boots test yesterday and got a very faint line, tested today with a Clear Blue digital and got a 'Not Pregnant'. Both were done first thing in the morning. Had a blood test done at the doctors this morning but won't get results until next week.

Does it seem likely this was a chemical pregnancy now? Still no bleeding, but constant cramping and nausea. I'm wondering whether it's my obsessing over it that's causing it. Not sure whether I should keep buying tests, for cost and sanity reasons! But I am just desperate to know one way or another.

Is it possible that for some reason you ovulated late? So you may be pregnant but it's not showing up yet? Could explain the faint line on one test as well.

Flashinthepan · 27/01/2017 17:53

Sorry just read the bit where you said don't think you ovulated late.

VeryHungryCaterpella · 27/01/2017 18:04

I was very sure I ovulated but perhaps the stick was wrong. At this point I'm not really counting anything out I am just baffled.

I had that recently. Doc said don't worry, it just happens sometimes. I've had loads of pregnancies (!) and for me, a late negative was always a negative. Sorry.

Lovechild2016 · 27/01/2017 18:10

catepella annovulatory cycles are not uncommon and if they happen you won't get AF as normal. This is one possibility. Another is a chemical pregnancy. Really difficult to know if this has happened. If it was a chemical maybe the blood test might show something but unlikely as HCG from a chemical pg can be quite low especially if it's not picking up on HPT. A chemical won't be seen on scan that's the reason it's called a 'chemical'. Obviously third and most hopeful reason is you are pregnant but it's not as far advanced as you thought. scan won't show anything for sometime, the urine and blood tests are way more sensitive. That's why until the HPT is positive there is not much point having s scan. My friend who had IVF had scan 2 weeks after embryo transfer (equivalent of 2 weeks post implantation) and the scan didn't really show anything the sonography explained that can be normal as takes a while for it to grow big enough to be seen and she's gone on to have twins! Really hope it's the final possibility! Keeping my fingers crossed and let us know.
Xx

VeryHungryCaterpella · 27/01/2017 18:32

Thank you so much, I am hoping against hope it is late implantation and the blood test will come back positive. I keep reading a positive result is a positive and I did have the faint line yesterday. But the 'Not Pregnant' today I got was absolutely gutting. I just don't understand why I've been getting nausea, the incredible tiredness, increased sense of smell etc. Unless it's all psychosomatic. We've been trying for two years. Is a phantom a possibility?

The digital tests aren't meant to be as accurate as early as tests like First Response, OP. Try again on Sunday with a First Response - and good luck.

Cguk81 · 28/01/2017 19:21

Good luck OP, hope it's good news for you!

HandbagFan · 28/01/2017 21:53

My BFP came 18 days after my period was due. Had always been a perfect 28 day cycle before that...

ummeTZH · 07/04/2017 16:15

11 days late which is so unlike me... but this is a negative test right?

11 days late and still negative pregnancy test, is there any hope?
penguinsandotters · 07/04/2017 16:26

Sorry to hear about your dilemma. I had a similar experience a few months ago. Usually regular cycles like you, never miss a period. Then no AF when expected and I kept testing every few days - BFN. Went to see GP who said HPT very accurate. Examined my abdomen and said if severe pain to go to A&E in case of ectopic. Eventually had some brown spotting so I just took as day 1 of next cycle and 28 days later had a full on period. It was super heavy - I couldn't go to work as needed to change every 1-2 hours. I wondered if it was a chemical. During that time I did a lot of research and found quite a few who didn't get positive HPT but actually pregnant and went on to have healthy babies. Also found that HPT are very sensitive and a negative means a negative. Hope this helps and good luck! Do update us about the blood test.

Kimzi91 · 24/04/2017 09:52

I'm in the same boat! I'm currently 11 days late, 3 negative's but 2 days before my period was due I had two days of light bleeding/spotting, I've got wait two weeks to see my doctor, unless AF arrives, hope you get the results you want, it's horrible not knowing what's going on with our body's ☺

hmyh23 · 24/04/2017 16:53

Also in this boat, normally have 28/29 clockwork cycles and now on CD41 with no period/pmt symptoms. Did some tests last week, all negative. Reluctant to do any more and just feeling really down about it as I want to believe I am even though in my head I know that it's so unlikely that the HPTs wouldn't have picked it up.

Kimzi91 · 25/04/2017 09:55

I'm now 12 days late with constant twinges and light pains in my lower abdomen, still negative results, I'm definitely not constipated 😩

hmyh23 · 25/04/2017 17:51

Same here, well and truly fed up! Genuinely don't think I'm pregnant but so sick of being in limbo.

hmyh23 · 27/04/2017 12:00

Still in limbo here, period now 2 weeks late and I can't get into the doctors until next week.

purplesmiler · 27/04/2017 16:33

Hi ladies im now 12 days late and bfns. Had some real symptoms too and would love to think this could be it. It seems to be a waiting game :-(
