Symptom spotters, tww - ers, slightly hysterical hormone laden ladies! Regs, lurkers, intermittent posters! Our raison d'etre is 'am I pregnant?'

Thread 12. Welcome!

We do not judge, we enjoy TMI, we i encourage waiting to poas nobody listens and all the grossness you can find from a group of intelligent, articulate ladies.

Post your stats and add your dates. We have a register thanks to kats stats I have been dubbed the resident piss stick queen and if you don't test, you get a Starky's Star

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind and well meaning but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly don't convince yourself your pregnant in the tww

tiny it's frustrating but after coming off depo injection it took about 6-9 months for me to get some semblance of a cycle back. Ivent taken any hormonal contraception for over 2 years now and I still get "phantom periods". Give it a few days and do a frer if nothing has happened. If you're not doing opk's I'd recommend you order some because it gives you an idea of if/when you're ovulating. Flowers

kat how are you feeling champ?

I'm just about to embark on creating a Victoria sponge. It's gluten free so they're always dryer than normal cake but I will slam on a load of butter cream and jam and hopefully that will offset it!

good luck with the job moggy.

I have recently applied for a new job at the same company. If I don't get it, I am seriously thinking of quitting and doing something completely different. I know realistically I have to find a new job before I change .... sigh....

found out yesterday, that whilst we have to fight for our 1% salary increase, all the top level people have been awarded ££££ Angry

I feel no loyalty to this place any more, and feel stupid for ever feeling it.

rant over. sorry, not happy at mo.

tinypapertiger · 02/03/2016 13:44

Thanks so much for all your thoughts, kwick, moggy, kat, hep, kav & starky. I have to admit I had started to get my hopes up again about testing tomorrow, but I went to the bathroom just now and, lo and behold - AF is finally here. Blush Though actually I'm not even annoyed about it this time. I'm just relieved that there's not something really weird going on with my body that I can't understand.

kat and starky I agree. I guess it must just be my periods settling down after being on the pill, but the spotting completely threw me, since I've never experienced that before. And somehow I had convinced myself that my body was going to be an exception to the rule of haywire post-pill behaviour. That's where positive thinking gets me...

Onwards and upwards, then! I love a good challenge Hmm

moggy are you due any day now, then? Also, on the job front I would say go for it. The new employer doesn't have to know the circumstances in which you got upduffed, so it could just be an unfortunate coincidence of timing, rather than a deliberate move on your part. Say you'd been trying for years - you couldn't control when things finally worked out.

Pugmummy87 · 02/03/2016 13:48

Don't know why the hell I agreed to organise a baby shower for my best friend and make the bloody cake. 🎂 Obviously didn't look at my rota before volunteering myself. Plan is to bake the two tiers tonight and then they will have time to settle and I will decorate them Friday evening.

Fx it doesn't turn into a disaster.

I've only started taking the berrocca because my diet has turned to shit since Christmas (I think I'm comfort eating as a way of grieving tbh) and I thought I ought to maybe just add in some supplements until I sort my diet out.

SuchaJem · 02/03/2016 14:22

Sorry it's AF tiny Better luck next month.

pug that's incredibly kind of you to do for your friend. A tiered cake sounds like a lot of work too. Lucky friend :)

I'm off work today with some kind of bug. I'm completely drained, just want to sleep and sleep. Sore throat, aching head and muscles. Not ideal conditions for making lurve 😔

StarkyTheDirewolf · 02/03/2016 14:23

Thinking positively is a good thing tiny you just have to find the happy medium between PMA and wishful thinking! I'm now on a 'no expectations' cycle. Just dtd as much as usual for us and not opking etc. My hormones have no excuse to be late/unpredictable etc but they do it anyway! Just to throw me off! I'm cycle 3 aswell and just needed to mentally step back from "actively ttc" for a few weeks, it sends you barmy!

That sounds like a plan pug 🍰know what you mean about the diet though, I've been really haywire with eating well and I think I'm relying on vitamins etc because my diet is shit at the minute!

Thanks hep have dragged myself in the shower and feel a bit more human now I'm clothed and clean 😁

Welcome abiwabi, what's clomid, if you don't mind me asking?

Hep154 · 02/03/2016 15:21

hi Abi [waves]

kavanaughkj · 02/03/2016 15:45

Hi Abi :) Good luck on the Clomid, it worked for a friend of mine. (it's a fertility drug Jem, I think it makes you ovulate more than normal.)

Driving myself nuts symptom spotting. Last night I had a pronounced pinch in the womb/ovary area and I'm 6DPO. Had a slight dip in temps this morning that could potentially be an 'implantation dip' though I should probably just call it a 'luteal dip' so as not to tempt fate. Trouble is, I'm also noticing a metallic taste in my mouth and I swear I'm just more aware of my boobs than usual - can't work out if they're bigger or more sensitive or what! It's maddening - all of this could have perfectly normal explanations and I would have had the same symptoms in the past but never noticed because I wasn't trying to conceive. Confused

AbiWabi · 02/03/2016 15:45

Hi SuchaJem, Clomid is a fertility drug used to stimulate the ovaries to produce more eggs to increase chance of conception :)

Hep154 · 02/03/2016 16:36

I think it worked for SIL

StarkyTheDirewolf · 02/03/2016 17:06

That's one of the things I'm trying to avoid this cycle kav the symptom spotting. It sends you mad. And like you say, before ttc and knowing/looking for symptoms, you probably wouldn't have given them a second thought!

Dh thinks I'm about to ovulate, his nose tells him again! I smell different to usual according to him. I wouldn't have a clue if I am or not as I'm eshewing all ttc aids with a firm hand! Grin

SuchaJem · 02/03/2016 17:10

I saw sooooo many symptoms last month and got a bfn. It's so so easy to do, am determined not to fall into that trap this cycle.

Thanks kav I'd never heard of that, sounds like it has helped others and hope it does you.

So.... I've done my first OPK! Brought a plastic cup home from work. No gu ramekin for me. A faint second line has showed - does this mean something is brewing but no eggo just get?

Thread 12 TTC#1"Trying is the fun part" said by nobody ever who's actually trying.
kavanaughkj · 02/03/2016 17:28

In my experience Jem, that's a negative. The second line will get darker gradually, and when it's as dark as the control line (or darker) that's a positive.

I think Abi is the one on Clomid, not me. :) I just knew what it was after a friend's experience ... and as a natural planner I have been doing way too much research!

SuchaJem · 02/03/2016 17:38

Ah apologies.

Righto, am cd8 so probably a bit early to be opking. Will be practised by the time it is worthwhile at least!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 02/03/2016 17:40

That's a negative jem you need two lines where the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. You'll be able to tell when you have a positive. I always have two lines but it's only when the control line starts getting darker do I know that I'm having an lh surge. And then the egg can be released anything from 12 to 36 hours from your positive opk.

OP posts:
StarkyTheDirewolf · 02/03/2016 17:41

Do them from cd 8 and keep doing one a day until you notice them getting darker, then so two a day, after your first month of doing them you'll get a much clearer picture of your cycle.

No expectations is the way to go, starky. I leapt into this business with enormous expectations, and had to be cut right back down to size, so I'm with you this month. Like a couple of others in this group, I'm trying to avoid a Christmas baby (there are already a fair few December birthdays in our family, and I find it both inspirationally and financially stressful!), so March and April will be very laid-back months. We're not actually actively avoiding (i.e. no condoms or anything) but I'm not going to bother OPKing again until May.

hep exactly my feelings!

Also lol at your DH being able to sniff out your ovulation, starky! That's some super senses he's got there!

Kwick709 · 02/03/2016 17:52

moggy HR central here! The only thing about changing jobs is some companies have a minimum service/tenure requirement for any enhanced mat pay they may give - so prob best to have a look at current policy. That said if you are unhappy then move - life is too short and being unhappy may impact your fertility.

SuchaJem · 02/03/2016 17:58

Thanks starky will persevere 👍🏼 quite enjoying having a focus point other than bonking

Kwick709 · 02/03/2016 18:00

Get well soon sucha Flowers

So all systems are go here! I am to inject the ovulation trigger tonight (pregnyl) and then egg collection on Friday am.
I am going to have a successful egg collection and a lovely embryo will be made and will implant in my womble!

SuchaJem · 02/03/2016 18:31

Thanks kwick. Fx for your collection and implantation!
