CD 17 tomorrow and having discovered last month's luteal phase was 9/10 days feeling very low about it all

My temps have gone up a fair bit in previous months, after Ov. This time, however, it all looks a bit low. Today is 2 DPO but is only 1 above coverline

I have had disturbed nights and have not had the 3 hours sleep needed before taking temp. I'm still recording it anyway.

I may stop temping after this cycle or perhaps do one more month to make it 6 months. Then I'm going to hide the thermometer and forget about it for a while and see what happens. I know roughly when I should be Oving so I'll see if I can do it without the stress of taking my temp.

what is your cm supposed to do during the month? i know you get ewcm at ovulation, but should it then dry up to nothing after or be sticky or creamy or what? mine seems to be sticky today which i am praying means that i might have ovulated even though temp still hasn't really gone up. just off to the loo to check again!......i think i am going mad!

Hi... it's the resident lurker here... would it be ok if I put my temps on again like I did last month to see if you concur with when I ov'd??? I had two shifts and not sure myself...

I don't mind if you'd rather not. Perhaps I should just bite the bullet and get the software.

oh shoot... pressed post instead of preview... wanted to add a comment or two.

My book says a shift of .1 degree is enough to signify OV if there are 3 temps .1degree higher than the previous 6. So on that basis CD14 was 35.9 and it went up to 36.1 ... but then there is a bigger shift from cd16 to cd17 so I am confused as to when I OVd.

Am I making any sense?? Probably not. I didn't conceive so it doesn't really matter all that much when I OVd, but the previous 2 months I OVd on day 15.

see what you mean ready, but i reckon you prob ov'd on day 16. just looks like a more convincing jump!

I marked it as day 16 on my book, DH thought that was more likely (bless him!) and EW stopped on CD17. But that means my luteal phase was a day shorter this month... which confuses me, as I thought that was always the same length. Is a luteal phase of 12 days okay???

Ready, Sorry I'm a bit useless at looking at temps like that. I can only understand the charts. Plus I use f not celcius. sorry can't I help.

Cityangel, that's what I call a lie in. Good for you. Not good for the chart though.

Greedy. CM does differ hugely from person to person. The T W book suggests finding the norm for yourself and note any deviation. Not that that helps.

My CM doesn't really follow a set pattern.
This morning was my first noticable 'dry/nothing' day but this afternoon (yes I check umpteen times a day too it was EW a bit .

I guess that's why the temps are handy, I couldn't rely just on CM.

Do you check cervical position too?

I find that even more confusing. Mine seems to go up and down like a yo yo.

That's what I would have said too. Day 16. But I'm not used to using celcius so didn't want to say and be totally off track.

When did you bd? Sorry that was a personal question. Don't answer if you'd rather not say. Was it on or near day 16?

12 days is fine. Under 10 is short and can be problematic.

I think it can vary by a day. So TW says in her book.
Since temping mine has been 11 days. Even when my cycle length changed, LP stayed at 11 days. I was amazed.

What day are you on now, Ready?

Have you tried using the cheap OPKs around CD15/16?

3cats... it's not too personal to ask when we had sex (we aren't BDing anymore - just sex for now!!), I'm not shy... Day 8,12,14,16,20 and 24... not enough around the right time probably!!
I am on CD4 today.

I really need to get the TW book. If it can differ by a day then that's cool.

I observe (!) my CM and it was EW on 13,14,15,16 and then nothing on 17. I don't check CP though.

I daren't start down the route of OPKs because I am already letting it control my life too much as it is with just temps. Another reason why I haven't got the software yet... once I start on that I will never stop thinking about ttc.

Ready, I agree that it looks like you OV'd around day 16. And thinking about your LP, remember that hormones don't necessarily work in whole numbers of days so yours might be 11.5 days, so temping once a day sometimes you catch it at 11 days, sometimes 12, if you see what I mean! Either way, I think that's fine - as 3 cats said, it's 10 days that is quoted as a potential problem (tho I can't remember whether it's 10 days and shorter, or shorter than 10 days!)

I've never tried checking CP either. MrsMcJnr (I'm in the fab club too!) said once that she used to but didn't find it helpful at all because it varied so much, and you can disturb CM by fiddling around in there too much!

Did anyone hear womans hour on radio4 this morning? The whole programme was dedicated to getting pregnant, it was pretty interesting...

i am now on cd 33 and my temp went down this morning so my tiny rise a couple of days ago obviously wasn't indicating ovulation. the last BD we had was sat cos my dh has been away since then, so its a bit desperate now to hope there is still any sperm lurking IF i do ov tomorrow! so now i am hoping NOT to ov until my dh gets back! which, unfortunately isn't until next tue! i bet now that i dont want to ov i will, its sods law isnt it!
3cats - with the whole cervix position thing....how should it feel when you are fertile? and how long does it stay like that? and does it take a while to get used to how it feels normally? and what is the best position to check it in? WOW! questions questions!!!!!....and i thought i knew all about TTC!

Hello LondonLottie hope you enjoyed your time away I bought some pg tests at the airport to take with me but they came back again unused I am never precise with the pre-seed. I use about half a tube per session and sometimes it is 30 mins before and others about 2! DH doesn?t know ?we? are using it!

Hello 3Cats ? how are you finding the pre-seed? We?ve used it quite a lot and it?s fine to use but has not done the trick yet but there?s always this cycle I know what you mean about having more EWCM in the past (I got none at all last cycle ). I remember thinking there was something really seriously wrong with me about 10 years ago.

Hey there Greedyforbabygravy ? thank you for missing me hope you?ve managed the deed this cycle with all that BDing, fingers crossed. I did used to check my CP but when I heard that it needs to be at the same time of day cos it moves and that it can dislodge EWCM etc that should be there, I stopped. Plus, I am retroverted so it was pretty hard to do anyway.

hello mrs! hope you had a fab time! nice to have you back! your BD record is looking good for this month so far...i take it dh back is all recovered! how are his symptoms now? was the op a complete success? we did lots of BDing, but unfortunately i haven't ov'd yet and dh went away last sunday so it will be another crap wasted cycle for me. have fun chart spotting! i know you like to be thorough so its goign to take you a while to catch up on all the various threads!

guess what i STILL haven't ovulated, BUT i have ewcm today which is bloody typical! normally i would be pleased, but with dh in New York there is not a lot to be happy about! i was hoping to hold off from ovulating till next wed! AAAARRRGGGHHH! cd 34 today!

Greedy, you could still get EWCM for another 3 or 4 days. Does that give DH enough time to get back and get BDing?

Glad you said that about CP MrsMc. Mine does differ alot and can move up and down in a day. I didn't know it could dislodge the EWCM, I might stop checking now.

Greedy, it does take a while to 'get to know your cervix'.

I'm not sure what's happening to my temps. As far as they are concerned there is no obvious temp hike to signify Ov. Maybe I haven't Ov'd yet as I was stressed about it.
The software has predicted Ov for the 7th Jan based on the +ve OPK. I guess it has nothing else to go on.
I did have CM dry up though, I think!

My DH didn't know about the Pre seed until the next day when I admitted to it feeling rather embarressed (sp?) that we hadn't BD'd as he was fast asleep when I got into bed!
I didn't find it created that much moisture though. I expected to be lying in a puddle as we hadn't made use of it but you would never know it had been there .

I have a week and a day before AF could be due. Next Friday. We have visitors all weekend so if I don't test on Friday I will have to wait until Monday afternoon. That is if AF doesn't show up first.
