Christmas Emoticons???

ready4motherhood · 13/11/2006 16:16

Know I know this is probably not the place for this thread, but I thought if I start it here, then we could post it in the correct place once we have some names??

I would love some Christmassy Emoticons to sprinkle (and when I say sprinkle you know that I am underplaying it ) onto my posts in the festive season. I know that some other gorgeous MNers have mentioned this. Soooooo... Mumsnet Bosses, if you are reading this, can we have some?? Puuuurrrlllleeeeeeeeeeaaaassse.

Who's with me??

well we type hugs an awful lot, so a little emoticon would be nice and save time.
I am guilty of this ((((((hugs))))))

babydust might be twee in your eyes, but I guess you already have babies?? those of us who don't would like to roll in babydust and hope some sticks. sorry.

Oh and a grin and a wink are not always perfect for summing up that someone is joking. I use the grin more for cheeky comments, not really jokes. and a wink for the saucier comments.

I'd like one for YUCK myself.

Oh, and cynical? I have had my MN cynic introduction today haven't I!!!!

Babydust? Hugs? Oh no ... please, spare us the horrors of rampant emoticons! Christmas ones would be bad enough (sorry, but I really don't like the idea at all), but hugs and babydust would be one step too far for me.

I like the fact that MN isn't like other parenting sites, and one of the good differences, IMO, is that we don't have lots of emoticons, tickers and so on. I've said before that the minute we have moving emoticons and tickers is the minute I leave MN and although Christmas/huggy emoticons aren't quite in that bracket, it seems like a bit of a slippery slope into being one of those twee, fluffy sites.

Twiglett · 15/11/2006 14:17

not cynical

anti-twee

ready4motherhood · 15/11/2006 14:18

I have got "thin skin" and you may think that I should get "thicker skin" but I don't want to change thanks. If I had thicker skin then I might just makes comments towards others and not worry that they might feel I was being unfriendly.

I am sure you are a very nice, warm and generous person Twiglett. I look forward to the days when you are being ultra kind when I am asking for advice on potty training or school uniforms or trips to the zoo

Hope you have a wonderful day!

READY [ANGRY] cyberslap!

MrsMcJnr · 15/11/2006 14:20

doh! ..

JustineMumsnet · 15/11/2006 14:24

It's alright Twiglett, WWB et al you'll approve of these ones we promise. Designed by our very own Flamesparrow they are merely a few of our current set with santa hats on and they'll only be making an appearance in December though. Many thanks for the input.
(Must run to talk to Tech about fairydust... )

Twiglett · 15/11/2006 14:27

mwah

WigWamBam · 15/11/2006 14:28

Santa hats ...

Dior · 15/11/2006 14:30

Message withdrawn

flamesparrow · 15/11/2006 14:32

They are very tasteful

SneakyMouse · 15/11/2006 14:42

Um.

You do know that babydust doesn't exist, right?

flamesparrow · 15/11/2006 14:46

pmsl SM

ready4motherhood · 15/11/2006 14:49

What?? You mean that this stuff I have been rolling in is not actual babydust!! Oh my word I am soooooooo ashamed

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 15/11/2006 14:50

NO! Next you'll tell me there is no Santa?!

Liking the sound of the festive emoticons Flamesparrow and I particularly like the fact that they'll only be available in December. I love Christmas but not before December.

flamesparrow · 15/11/2006 14:52

Concerned about exactly what you are rolling in... Never trust your DH if he suggests rolling in or ingesting anything to help with babies

Bodkin · 15/11/2006 15:04

Anti-twee eh Twiglett? What about all this fannying about changing nicknames to Halloween names etc. I see you're not above that.

Ready4 - I am all for some temporary Christmas icons. Thems that don't likes, don't use 'em. It's quite simple really.

ready4motherhood · 15/11/2006 15:15

Did someone suggest that Father Christmas is just a figment of my imagination? Don't tell me it's DH who eats the mince pies I leave out???

OP posts:
RachelRose · 15/11/2006 15:35

Well said Bodkin - The bah-humbugs can just look on in disgust while the we spread a little christmas cheer. Don't tell me some of you don't send christmas cards either?

Emoticons with hats sound great

lemonaid · 15/11/2006 15:46

You leave mince pies out and lying about unattended all night, do you,, ready4? What's your address again... strictly in the interests of consumer research, of course... [licks lips hungrily and makes note in diary for Christmas Eve]

lemonaid · 15/11/2006 15:47

Actually, I would like to see an (unadvertised) Gin emoticon to catch out people like me who can't spell ...

greedyguzzler · 15/11/2006 20:59

OMG! ready - i think its a great idea!
i LOVE christmas so much and have already started listening to my christmas songs and i dont care what anyone thinks! christmas is a happy, fun time, so why not make it last as long as possible and be reminded of it as much as possible. if some people want to LIMIT themselves to only having FUN on dec 25th then that is up to them, but i say the more xmas emoticons the better! not that i will ever use them cos im not that good at doing them, but hey, i will enjoy seeing them

SneakyMouse · 15/11/2006 21:03

Ready4...no, it's not babydust and if you're rolling around in the stuff, you'll just get sticky

sparklytreeangel · 04/12/2006 09:57

Hooray. Well done Rudholph'sReady!
