Cycle 1 ~ first ever 2ww!

CluelessDil · 12/11/2014 09:15

Hi all I know there are a couple of 2ww threads but hopefully you won't mind me starting my own one since it's my very first time!

I posted a month or two ago under a different name about how I was sad about having to wait until New Year for practical reasons to start trying and lots of you said stuff the practicalities just go for it!

So... If I am lucky enough to be one of those people who fall pg first time I will be finding out in two weeks when I'm on holiday!

I keep trying to tell myself there's no way I'll be that lucky but secretly thinking I might be?! Just hope I'm not too disappointed when reality may kick in...

Anyway I'm babbling now, just very excited and nervous and if anyone would like to keep me company over the next couple of weeks it would be great to have you around because the only person I have to share this with is Dh, he's great but I'm not sure he'd be my go to for things like symptom checking etc!

Oh beanlovesbong, so sorry about your BFN - like you say at least you know and now you can let your hair down tonight without worrying, and back to the fun in December!

Kym134 · 22/11/2014 18:53

Hi all I was hoping to join this quiet corner as I keep reading the larger threads and having to re read everything and the abbreviation lists just to get it to make sense. I had my implant out on the 22nd Oct and had AF on the 6th November. We are sort of seeing what happens currently but I am starting to obsess slightly.

I am in my first 2ww wait as it were but I am conscious that some people don't ovulate as soon as the implant comes out, although nurse said I would :s.

I am symptom spotting like anything and slight twinges make me excited. (Weird I know)

Hope to keep reading and hope it all goes well for you.
Kym

Hiya kym, this does seem to be a lovely calm thread - though I think we're all getting angsty as we approach the end of the 2ww.
It's amazing how 'seeing how it goes' escalates into full blow preggo paranoia in a matter of weeks! I keep thinking 'should I be lifting that?' Or 'am I allowed to eat this?'
Thankfully I can come here to see that I'm not alone and it seems perfectly normal behaviour! Grin

Keep us updated when your thinking of testing!

An update for you guys - feeling less PMT-y, my cycles are usually 28-32 days ... Currently on day 32, but still trying holding out for a couple of days to test to be sure. Maybe Wednesday?

Themrsgray · 23/11/2014 07:00

Hi guys well my af came today.its a strange feeling knowing i'm def not pregnant when I have been slightly obsessing about it. My cramps are horrendous too almost like af is punishing me this month for not wanting her to arrive!
Good luck to everyone else who is still in the 2ww. Xx

Kym134 · 23/11/2014 09:06

Sorry to hear that mrsgrey.
Based on my cycles I had on the implant (which I know cannot be trusted) AF should arrive 1st December. So I will try to hold out as long as possible!
Upnorth I know it was supposed to be calm and patient waiting to see all that happened but no hope of that now. Both sets of parents keep saying how excited they would be to have their first grandchild so it seems double the pressure!

UpNorth74 · 23/11/2014 12:49

Themrsgray .. boo to period cramp! Tuck up under the duvet, open a big bar of choc - all will be right with the world tomorrow!

Kym have you told your parents you are trying? We decided to keep it under wraps just in case this process ends up being a long journey. I'm not sure i could cope with people asking me 'are you on your period yet then??' month after month.

Kym134 · 23/11/2014 13:05

No we didn't tell them but as we have been married for nearly three years and have settled down they are assuming that we will have kids. We are the eldest for both parents so I think they are excited to think they may become grandparents. I would also hate people knowing and giving me pity looks if it does take awhile as loads of people at work keep announcing they are having a baby.

UpNorth74 · 25/11/2014 07:19

Exercising upmost patience .... AF is officially late, but I've had a couple of days of on/off cramp which sometimes precedes bleeding. But no bleeding yet.
Day 35 of cycle - attempting to hold off testing till at least Thursday.

Trying not to get my hopes too high, as the cramp is the same as period cramp, just late. Yet trying to stay positive. It's so tricky Confused

UpNorth74 · 27/11/2014 07:07

Today is Thursday ... I managed to hold out. POAS at 5.30 this morning ... BFP! I'm in shock, I can't quite get my head around it. I feel overwhelmed at how fortunate we are, falling PG on cycle 1.

It going to be so hard not telling anyone ... Oh man!

Shootthemoon · 27/11/2014 12:57

upnorth, I'm only just seeing this thread but wanted to pop on and say congratulations :) Always lovely to hear that people get what they want without waiting too long.

TinyWishes · 27/11/2014 13:47

Aw congratulations up north!

Are you all dazed lol xx

UpNorth74 · 28/11/2014 05:57

Thank you shootthemoon and tinywishes! Dazed is definitely the word for it. Sounds really cheesy, but I keep thinking I'm dreaming, or that I've made a mistake! Pinch me!

Kym134 · 28/11/2014 18:41

Up north congratulations!
So happy for you.

CluelessDil · 29/11/2014 09:50

upnorth I am so happy you are one of the lucky ones! You have been so lovely to me on this thread and I'm only sad you won't be around the ttc boards as I am definitely going to be here a bit longer..,

So the holiday definitely helped not focus 100 per cent of my energy and made the days go in much quicker so I was delighted to find myself a day late... Forgot to take a test with me so proceeded to buy a clear blue digital. Bfn. I was disappointed but having a good time definitely helped and my DH was really supportive so I reacted and felt better than I expected.

Af arrived today three days late, I'm so glad I tested though because I think I would have been really gutted as three days late is quite unusual for me so I could have gotten my hopes up a lot.

I'm sleep deprived right now but will check in later. Congratulations again upnorth Flowers it must be so hard to not tell everyone, at least for now you can celebrate with us!

Cluelessdill I'm sorry that first BFN can be hard. But sounds like the holiday was the best thing.

I'm here, sorry I didn't catch you before. Hopefully the coming months will be better for both of us. Look forward to seeing you pop up on other boards.

These threads are always here when you need it.

Congrats up north. Enjoy x

CluelessDil · 29/11/2014 15:47

Thanks so much spaniel I am so grateful for mn right now and will definitely be sticking my heads round the door on other threads too

UpNorth74 · 29/11/2014 15:55

Oh ClulessDil I'm so sorry Sad It is amazing how much it can take up of your thoughts - and it sounds like you've got a good one in your DH there ... so now is the time to get back to the FUN STUFF and an excuse to hit the sack even more Grin Keep that chin up - oodles of positivity can't go wrong at all. I'll be keeping everything crossed for you for your Christmas 2ww!

Thank you so much for your congrats! It still doesn't feel quite real! Which, to be honest, is helping not letting anything slip to family and friends! Waiting on official docs test results, and keeping it to ourselves (and you guys!) for now. Hope to tell my Mam around Christmas (before she guesses!)

UpNorth74 · 29/11/2014 15:57

Thank you Kym and thanks Spanielpuppy!

Spanielpuppy · 29/11/2014 18:48

Bet they would be your mums perfect Christmas present upnorth x

Spanielpuppy · 29/11/2014 18:48

Bet that even

UpNorth74 · 29/11/2014 19:54

You're right SpanielPuppy ... I think it would! And she's so hard to buy for, problem solved Wink

CluelessDil · 29/11/2014 21:31

I recommend watching YouTube vids of people revealing to families at Christmas that they are pregnant upnorth even if you don't try out their ideas it will have you tearing up I'm sure!! Smile

So I've purchased some ovulation sticks and will figure out how to use them... According to my app if I have a successful run this month I'll be testing on Christmas Day... I'm going to make sure it doesn't spoil anything though, it's still early days and all that.

Thanks for all the lovely supportive messages everyone. I suppose it's time now to graduate on to one of the bigger ttc threads

Where do the rest of you usually check into?

OP posts:
UpNorth74 · 30/11/2014 09:39

I have popped in and out of some of the other 1st cycle threads, and one for 'younger' TTCers ... Though I think I'm abut borderline at almost 29! I never really commented on any as they were just so huge - saw yours near the start of the convo, so it was nice to jump in then.
I'm a little scared to graduate to the Pregnancy topics ... Will probs check out of MN over Christmas. Don't want it to be spotted by any family using our computer when they come to stay!

I'll definitely check out the you tube videos, they sound great!!

testing on Christmas Day could be fun! But like you say, it's good to keep an open mind and not get too caught up in the build up (easier said than done!). Let Christmas distract you and try to test on Boxing Day before you put your feet up with some Turkey sarnies Grin

CluelessDil · 30/11/2014 12:31

Great idea about Boxing Day upnorth, yes at 31 I feel like I'm too young for the older group and too old for the young group! I'm sure I'll slot in somewhere.

You should def pop on to one of the pregnancy topics there will be loads of great advice and plenty of suggestions on how to conceal your pregnancy over Christmas etc plus just someone who is at the exact same stage as you or a little ahead so you can ask what to expect for appointments etc, especially in the early stages when you can't do the big reveal!

Seriously thanks for being around for the last couple of weeks and I hope you have a lovely happy glowy pregnancy Flowers

I will be keeping an eye out for our username so drop me a note if you are planning to change so I can congratulate you when the time comes (and tell you if I get some good news!)

Ah thank you CluelessDil - such kind words Smile I've got everything crossed for your Festive BFP, and looking forward to you coming and joining me on the pregnancy pages!
