faint line on preg test and spotting. Is this doomed?

Just want reassurance please. I tested positive yesterday and today (4 tests so far!) but all the lines are faint. I have used First Response, Clearblue and Acon internet tests. I am also spotting/bleeding very lightly and have been doing since a few days past ovulation. I am only 4 wks and 1 day but feel this pregnancy is already doomed (my last 2 pregnancies have ended in miscarriage at 3 months).

Please, does anyone have any experiences that might convince me all is not lost?

Twiglett!! Hi, thanks for your response, apparenlty I will get scans at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks at the fertility unit. I still want to cry though, I'm all over the place and cant relax or feel happy about this at all.

hello bunny2, i saw your thread and send you masses of hugs. i am now 23 weeks pregnant, and had a heavy 2 day bleed day 24 of my cycle and then spotting at 5 weeks (for a week) and 7 weeks (for 10 days). it was awful, i felt as if i was living on a knife's edge, try and relax, as you really don't have much control over it(short of deciding to take up weightlifting) but then you know this already. anyway, i bled as i described and touch wood, all is ok. xx

Wow, MG, I didnt know you had that much spotting... phew.. not just me then. You are well out of any danger period now, have you started to relax and enjoy it? I know exactly what you mean about wanting to start again, the thought has crossed my mind too.

I want to put all ths to one side and get on with my life but I cant, poor ds is in the lounge with the telly on while I am obsessively searching the net for other women like me.

I realised I was obsessed when I took my 3 positive tests in the bath with me last night . And dh complained I smell of wee because I carried them around everywhere.

oh my love i so have been there- you want to find a million women like me don't you that say "i spotted" and I'm fine. well it really helped me to email another mumsnetter who had had similar experiences direct, so if at any time you want to "chat" then contact me via another talker. however if you, as I did (!) spend hours reading other threads you will see you have as much chance as the next person of keeping this pregnancy. x

also meant to say that i am now ok about it but have only just stopped automatically checking knickers for blood when i go to the loo! i'm quite proud about it cos my friend who had twins recently said she did it up until her waters broke!!

You probably don't want to hear from me at all right now, but I did spot at 4, 6, 8, 9, and 12 weeks with ds and he is perfect!

This time I was really glad that I went for all the scans on offer. The only thing I regret was not taking things easier. I know it would not have made a bit of difference to the outcome, but it would have made me more able to cope with the outcome - and I imagine more able to cope with the rest of a pg.

So take it easy darling, let us know how it is going, and remember that we are all here for you.

Bunny, hiya. I know you have been spotting for a while now but I reaaly do want to reassure you. My good friend I told you about has been spotting every day almost since the day she got her implantation bleed. She has been very concerned obviously but all is absolutely fine. She is now 7 weeks and still spotting but I think we concluded that she has spotting anyway every cycle and that this would be inevitable. I read somewhere (will try to find) that although pgcy hormones take over, in the background Oestrogen is still being produced and can cause this bleeding, especially around imp, the time AF is due and through early pgcy due to the hormonal changes. Around 30% of women will have bleeding in early pgcy and the stats say the majority of these will go on to have healthy pgcies.
Also the factthat you are now 11DPO is isgnificant, as it is so early to get a positive result. I know it took a little while for me to get a strong line as my tests before AF was due was hardly visible at all. Perhaps test again tommorow or the day after, first wee and compare to your previous ones. It's really tough this bit I know. Every successful pgcy I've had bleeding, so that's something to bear in mind. Hugs chuck, speak in a while, off to find some links for you!

Bunny, I'm hoping for you. I've followed your m/cs and been quietly hoping for your pg to come soon.

I had spotting with both by ds - quite early as well - 5-6 weeks. Both boys now driving me mad.........keep hoping - I'm really hoping for you pet.

Just wanted to say that when i was pegnant with dd1 i had a very heavy bleed at 7 weeks but amazingly didn't lose her. The bleeding continued gradually getting lighter, unitl it stopped all of a sudden at about 14 weeks. DD is now 6.

Hope everything is o.k for you. Try to relax a bit (virtually impossible i know).

Madgirl - Know exactly what you mean about wanting to just start again, and checking knickers. I spent more time in the loo than any other room in the house.

I feel much better, I have just read through this thread twice and am nearly convinved this baby has a chance! Thanks for your reassurance, glad to hear of other wome who have gone on to have babies after bleeding.

Nearly every day yes. Sometimes it would stop for a couple of days and i would start to relax and then it would suddenly start again. The docs weren't at all bothered by it as i had regular scans to check everything was o.k They couldn't really explain why it happenend either and said it's quite common.

Oh Bunny......poor you. My SIL spotted a lot at the beginning of her PG and had a little boy. HUGS to you.

Hi BUnny, yes it's poss to bleed and still be ok. It's if the bleeding is from you or the baby. As I said my friend has had it none stop pretty much, but baby is fine! Take care xx

Gosh Nutty, that must have been scarey. The more I look into it, the more common it seems to be. I wish doctors could tell us why it happens. Oh well, going by all the positive experiences here, it obviously doesnt mean the end. Thanks again

Bunny 2 - I am 10 weeks and just had a weekend of spotting, followed by a scan that said everything is fine, just to the add to the "I spotted too and it was ok" messages. It was very scary though, so am thinking of you and sending you lots of hugs. Waiting to see on something like this is just so very hard, hope you are ok.

Hi Bunny2, and congratulations on the pregnancy. Being pg after a m/c is scary, but you are over the first hurdle - you are pg again! The only advice I can offer you is to take one day at a time - you are pregnant at the moment and that's good. The 2 weeks till your first scan will seem like forever so just try to keep busy (but don't wear yourself out!). I hope you have a healthy pregnancy - good luck.

Bunny2 - First of all congratulations. Just to add to the reassurances. I have spotted with all my pregnancies. You do not describe any other symptoms so it does look positive. Try to get an early scan for reassurance. And test again in a day or two to check hormones are increasing.
