Have PCOS, told it would be very difficult to conceive and got pregnant whilst on the pill ! Was late taking it one day and thought nothing of it -even ignored lack of AF as thought impossible. DS now 2 !!! Interesting info about day 18 as have found this is my fertile day - didn't realise this was common with PCOS.

I was diagnosed as having PCOS at 18 as I had very typical symptoms. I stayed on the pill for nearly 15 years but since coming off am pretty much unsymptomatic. My own theory about this is that about 5 years ago I got super fit to run the London Marathon. My body completely changed over a few months - the fat disappeared and I developed lots of muscle. I think this was enough to tip the hormones back into sync so that now, while I am no-where near as fit as I was, it has all seemed to maintain it's equilibrium. As I said, I have never run this past a doctor, but as an explanation it seems to make sense to me. I am also reasonably careful about what I eat - lots of fruit and veg and not to much sweet stuff. Basically lowish GI, although I don't follow this slavishly at all.

I was also told I would have difficulties conceiving, but this has not proven to be the case. I know I ovulate each month because I have obvious surges using ovulation predictor kits and have got pregnant on four occasions although unfortunately have miscarried twice. Good luck with TTC and I hope my story and the stories of lots of the others here gives you reassurance.

I have PCOS (lots of symptoms and i hate it but...)and and following 2 cycles of clomid which failed had ovarian drilling. Conceived a couple of weeks later but m/c at 8 weeks (dire event and nearly didn't make it myself). Then nothing for a couple of years. Was put onton IVF waiting list, took delivery of drugs/needles etc. Had many blood tests and went for lesson on how to inject. Happened to mention that I felt different, so they did a test and hey presto dd is 19 months old!! Conceived naturally in the end. I'm sure 'giving up' on whole idea helped and knowing we were going to get help seemed to take pressure off.

Don't have time to read whole thread - but, yeah, I have 2 (after controlled diet).
And know of another mum of 2 who used metformin.
