Thank you vicky you too Smile

woodwaj · 08/09/2013 08:00

I think my AF is about to arrive, hopefully be in full swing by the end of the day and start the clomid tomorrow! Very excited the cramps arent even bothering me! Having a day out to the seaside today fingers crossed for no rain!!

VickyVix · 09/09/2013 08:41

Hi ladies, waving!

Woohoo, glad AF arrived for you so you can start the Clomid woodwaj

Hope you had a busy weekend of DTD onelife

News from over this way is that AF decided to bugger off after barrly 3 days, am slightly confused by this as have always had pretty long AF in the past before BCP (like 6/7 days and heavy) and always 5 days when on BCP. it's good because we can get DTD again but a bit odd all the same.

Think it was Deffo AF but wondered if anyone else thinks 3 days is odd??

woodwaj · 09/09/2013 09:38

3 days is a bit odd but if its around the right time for af surely it is? Strange have you poas? My af stopped yesterday then came again properly this morning so its clomid tomorrow now. Hope your having a good holiday!! I am jealous as I type this from the office!

VickyVix · 10/09/2013 02:24

I did PoAS just to check and it was BFN so was definitely AF. Guess my cycle is still adjusting. Anyway, onwards and upwards, I'm on cd5 now so will get my OPKs out in a few days :)

Good luck with the Clomid

onelifeonechance · 10/09/2013 11:05

Hi everyone Smile and welcome to those that have joined since I've been away (waving)

We have had a lovely weekend&so far have dtd every day from cd8 (cd11 today) 3rd FL face today, we're going for it though, hoping project anniversary baby is successful but if not we've had fun trying!! Grin

Great news to return to woodwaj that af has visited you, hoping you won't see her again for a while (like maybe 9 months!) How is the clomid going?

And Vix that's interesting what you say about your 3 day af. Before I went on the pill my cycles were but irregular but mostly 28-31 days lasting maybe 4-5 days. Since coming off pill in Feb I've had really short cycles 23-25 days and last 3-4 days. TMI but usually only red blood for 2 days then just the tail end of things after that. Thought they might lengthen but this is now 7th cycle after coming off pill. That's why i'm so intrigued by my ov date, really hoping short luteal phase not going to be a prob. But trying to see the positives that we get to try again sooner than if we had short cycles! Hope you're having a fab time Smile

onelifeonechance · 10/09/2013 11:06

Oops, meant to say than if we had long cycles!

woodwaj · 10/09/2013 16:34

Hi onelife Glad you had a nice time away. I have literally just taken my first clomid tablet so I will keep you posted, im quite worried about side effects after reading other blogs so I figured taking it after work might help. I also had a letter from the docs yesterday, im going to see my rubbish ovaries on 25th September! I don't think short periods are anything to cause concern so hopefully we will all get our BFPs very soon!!

NeuroticSweetTalk · 11/09/2013 13:46

Onelife my cycle is only 26 days and I've only ever got a 4-5 day AF (and similar to what you have with only 2-3 days red) Anyway when I figured out that it's that short I got nervous about it (as thinking 28 is the norm) and spent a lot of time on Google. From what I found out of other womens experience and some medical articles is that if your cycle and AF are shorter than 28 days with a short AF too that the luteal phase is usually a bit longer and ovulation is earlier. Not sure if that's true for everyone though but most of the websites seemed to agree that it makes it a bit easier to conceive as there's a slightly bigger window to do so Smile

onelifeonechance · 11/09/2013 19:27

Thanks neurotic and woodwaj, helps to know others have the same things and that it may not be a bad thing - I've a tendency to worry& think worst case scenario! Really trying to reign that in and be cool, calm &collected about ttc, some days I succeed, others I don't! So big help to have your support Smile

Good news for me today is that I got a fixed smiley Grin helps to know my body does work! Quick question though, if it says you ovulate anytime in the next 48hrs, how do you know what day to count as your ov day?? Hoping dh is ok tonight, we've had real fun last few days but think the fixed smiley this morn caused a few performance issues. Really trying hard not to pressurise him cos know how much he wants it too & he is doing his best, but it's so hard when you know it's the right time & it doesn't happen. Have cooked a nice tea so let's see Smile

How are you ladies doing? What part of your cycle are you in neurotic? And hope the clomid goes well for you woodwaj, how long do you take it for? Keep us posted

woodwaj · 11/09/2013 21:15

I sometimes think it might be easier not to tell OH about ovulation. Or to trick them into thinking its another time! Best to let them think they are getting lucky all the time ;)

Do you ever get ovulation pains? Not everyone can feel them but you can sometimes feel twinges when your egg is released!

I have to take clomid for 5 days (day 2 today) and pleased to report no side effects so far (was not looking forward to hot flushes/blurred vision!!) Luckily if I do get any I can fob people off at work as there is a sick bug going round the office!!

NeuroticSweetTalk · 11/09/2013 22:12

I'm great thanks Onelife since stopping my BCP I feel absolutely rubbish when AF is here. But finished a couple of days ago. Currently on CD 9 so already into my fertile period since I tend to ovulate around CD 11. Is that the OPKs that you use to get the smiley face? I've considered buying some to be sure I've tracked my cycle correctly. How are you? [Smile]

Hiya Woodwaj, I get pains when I ovulate, predominantly on my right side sometimes both sides which worries me a little since non-identical twins run in my family aha. Is it a really newbie question to ask what clomid is? [Smile]

woodwaj · 11/09/2013 22:28

Because I have pcos I rarely have af (only one natural this year) doc gave me meds to have af and the clomid forces the egg to release I used to use opks they are good but they dont work with pcos

onelifeonechance · 13/09/2013 09:18

Morning all Smile Sorry for slow reply but having busy week and my phone has been playing silly beggers which hasn't helped!

woodwaj So glad you've not had any side effects from the clomid and hoping that's still the case now, last day of it tomorrow yes? Then what happens? Is it lots of dtdeeding? If so good luck Grin and nice timing that it's a weekend as always helps!

My amazing dh pulled it out the bag so to speak and we managed to bd both wed and thurs eve so i can honestly say we have done as much as we can this month! Really hoping it works but if not at least i won't feel we didn't try our best.

I've never really felt ovulation pains and even this month when i had more of a clue because of the opks i'm not sure i really felt anything. I have had a few twinges past couple of days but as soon as i think maybe this is it it goes and i think maybe it was just wind or something i've eaten!! So it'd be hard for me to track that way which is why the opk has been great as before using them i was thinking i ov cd10/11 (purely based on ewcm) but this month it looks like it's more cd12/13 so think we were maybe missing things last few tries.

neurotic I'm fine thanks - just entered the 2ww so time has slowed as per usual but other than that i'm very well! Yes i've been using opks for the first time this month and personally have found them really useful as it's helped me pinpoint my ov date more accurately than my previous guesstimating! I've used the CB digital one that gives you a smiley face when it's your peak fertility and have found it really easy to use. There are cheaper ones that others on here use as the CB one is pretty expensive but i think they can be harder to interpret from what i've read so i'm happy i went with the CB one this time round. Maybe if we're not successful after a few months i could convert to the cheaper ones if there is a pattern to my ov but at the mo i'm def sticking with this as i've been v impressed with it.

Well good luck all - have a lovely weekend and go forth and multiply Grin

woodwaj · 13/09/2013 19:00

Ive had a few headaches but nothing major so that's been good! Im not really too sure now, we have decided to DTD every other day when AF stops to cover whenever I ovulate, presuming its worked and I do ov that is! if I do ov then I should either get AF again or BFP and I know which one I would prefer!

Sounds like you have been busy onelife so fingers crossed you will get yours too!

onelifeonechance · 13/09/2013 19:41

That's good that you haven't had too many side effects from it. Is the scan on the 25th to see if you ovulated then or just to check your ovaries? Think your plan sounds like a grand one - covers all bases then, good luck with it Smile

Yes we have been busy, looking forward to PJs and a quiet night tbh Grin

woodwaj · 13/09/2013 22:33

The scan is to see how many cysts are on my ovaries but they might be able to give me some indication as to whats going on this month I would expect AF or BFP not long after that!

I know how you feel i'm scoffing ice cream and getting ready for the Big Bro final! not so secret 5ive fan Cake

NeuroticSweetTalk · 15/09/2013 20:45

Hi ladies, how is everyone? Smile

WoodWaj Oh right, it's amazing what medication can do. I'm so incredibly uneducated about things like that, I briefly looked it up when I had to have a scan for it a few years ago but didn't realise it can so AF and ovulation too. Hopefully you get your BFP soon :D

OneLife Awh your 2ww. I haven't experienced the slowing of time because of the 2ww as I'm pretty much always at work or busy with family that I usually forget that it's the time of month.

I've tried OPKs this month and it turns out my ovulation date isn't what I thought :S either that or I can't quite interpret it properly. Either way I'm quite confused about it as I'm now CD13 and have 2 weeks before AF only my OPK result is negative still.

woodwaj · 15/09/2013 21:59

Good thanks shame about the rainy weekend!

Im still learning a lot about it too its never ending information!! I know how you mean about it flying by though im waiting on solicitors to move house and it takes up a lot of time

what type of opks have you gone for Ive read that a lot of people have to wait longer than expected for the positive on a clear blue

NeuroticSweetTalk · 15/09/2013 22:11

Yeah the rainy weekend has dampened my mood too, but then again it's kind of nice to have an excuse to stay home Smile I suppose we're lucky in that respect because I could understand how the 2ww could be slow and anxious.
Just sainsburys ones, they aren't the basic since they were almost a tenner but they aren't brand ones. I think I'm probably just doing it at the wrong time, I've heard it had to be in the afternoon or something to get the positive at the right time? Smile

Hibou7688 · 16/09/2013 09:59

Hi all, newbie here.. going.to start ttc in next couple pf months but just trying to get to know my cycle a bit first! Yesterday evening I did my first ever opk. Two lines appeared about the same colour. So I did it again this morning and this time I only had the one line and the second one was a lot fainter than last nights (hardly visible at all). Last night was today 10 and todsy is day 11. Does that mean that I've already ovulated? Maybe yesterday or day before.

onelifeonechance · 16/09/2013 10:16

Morning all Smile and welcome to Hibou (you're doing this the right way round. i really wish i'd read up on everything BEFORE we started ttc as would have been much better informed and could have got cracking the right way from the off - good luck to you when you do start!)

I am by no means an opk expert as i only started using them this cycle and i've used the digital cb ones...but from what i've read from others posting on MN i think if you're not using the digital ones then you are meant to do it at the same time and generally in the afternoon because of detecting the LH surge (someone did say between 10-8pm but please don't quote me on that!) (CB ones are FMU at same time) Hope that helps a bit!

I'm plodding through my 2ww - i'm between 3-5 dpo at mo so fair way to go! But we had a lovely weekend and went blackberry picking, v pleased with our haul and yummy blackberry and apple sponge was consumed yst Cake

woodwaj i know your pain - we recently moved and our solicitor was worse than useless, it's all soooooo slow but like the 2ww for me Hope they pull their finger out and you get moved pronto - fx you'll be needing the extra room soon Wink

Milknosugar33 · 16/09/2013 10:36

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and new to ttc - cycle 3.

Unfortunately, I'm a very impatient person and have four friends who are now pregnant who all hit the jackpot first time, but trying not to be disheartened.

So far I've been using the cheap ovulation sticks from Amazon but wonder if a fertility monitor or the digital sticks are more accurate?

Any tips or advice welcome!

Looking forward to getting some support. Think OH finds talking about it is pressure for him so not going to tell him the days etc anymore and try and just have fun trying!

NeuroticSweetTalk · 16/09/2013 11:43

Hibou it could just be the time of day you did it. I read somewhere 2pm gives the best reading but onelife is right it's anywhere between 10am and 8pm that can give the most accurate (so I've read) I'd try again this afternoon to see if it changes from this morning at all Smile

Hi Milk I know what you mean, my Bestie has managed to get pg before me (although she had been TTC a lot longer than me! Lol) I think all of them are advertised as 99% accurate is just some are more easy to interpret than others, but the CB digital ones are a lot easier to decipher from what I've read on here. I just use the sainsburys ones that are s couple up from the basic. They're a bit confusing but once I read the leaflet properly it was easier Smile

I kinda disappointed because I meant to grab a OPK test before work this morning to do at 2pm but was in such a rush I completely spaced. And so I'm still rather confused about where I am in my cycle.

Hibou7688 · 16/09/2013 15:30

Thanks ladies! Will try again at same time tonight. Weird question but the more expensive smiley face ones.. do u only use them the once or can u reuse them??
