Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Hopefully this is your lucky month, Blamber. Hope Af stays away and your dream comes true!

Ooh, sounds promising Business. I had browny implantation with DS, round about a week before I was due AF.

I'm on cd 17 now, not a clue when/if I ov'ed as didn't really notice much cm this month. Will start temping again next month. Just hoping I don't have another 21 day cycle like I did the other month. Last month's 28 day cycle was a bit more promising but we were still on ttc break then.

This thread's gone so quiet!

businessadmin · 14/10/2013 13:41

It could be implantation bleeding, Business, though don't want to get your hopes up. I remember that I had it for a couple of mornings with DS but only when I wiped after a pee (sorry if tmi) and it was only a tiny amount. I've thought I've had it this time around, but it turned out to be AF appearing early. Do you know roughly how many DPO you are? I'd try to hold out until day Af is due, if I were you, but I know it's hard to wait and I don't always hold off poas either. Smile

blamber · 14/10/2013 15:44

Business, I would also wait until Af is due. Testing then will be more reliable. Good luck!

Charley, I hope your cycle wont be too short.

I'm not very hopeful, I felt my cervix was open this morning, which usually happens before AF arrives. I'm 7dpo. Sad

businessadmin · 15/10/2013 01:34

Ok ty charleylarlie & Blamber

Im not really sure how many DPO i am, I was on CD 14 and i had a surge on fri 4th & 5th oct . I reckon im about 9 DPO

charleylarlie · 15/10/2013 08:07

Really hope AF stays away, Blamber. I've never really figured out the cervix testing thing. Hope you're wrong on this occasion though.

Good luck, Business. The timings sound about right for implantation bleeding, really hope it is for you.

No news here, cd18, could be anything from 4 to 8 dpo. Not a clue. Confused Must get back to the temping next month.

businessadmin · 15/10/2013 21:49

I had brown discharge Sat 12 & Sun 13 Oct , I hope it is too Smile x x

blamber · 16/10/2013 13:04

Exciting, business! So are you testing this weekend if you can wait that long? Let us know!

Charley, temping does help tremendously in figuring out dates and I don't find it stressful at all. I do get a bit obsessive checking my cervix around ov time and it stressed me out the other day... but I was wrong, no AF and my temps are still up! 9 dpo now, I have never gotten this far before without AF showing. If it stays away, I'm testing Sunday, one day before AF is due...

charleylarlie · 16/10/2013 13:25

Ooh, fingers crossed for both of you. It's about time we got another bfp or two on this thread! Grin

I am between 5 and 9 dpo (def back to the temping for me next month) but no symptoms yet. Am really trying not to symptom spot, but it's sooooo hard...

blamber · 17/10/2013 15:25

Well my temp dropped and AF arrived. Boo! I have seen another doctor and he's doing some blood tests to check out my hormones.

charleylarlie · 17/10/2013 16:31

Oh no, Blamber, that's rubbish for you. I was so hoping you'd get your bfp this month. How long was your luteal phase this month?

It's good that you're seeing another doctor now though, as I really can't understand why gps won't refer women early when they have a genuine concern. Hope your appt comes quickly and you get some answers. Unless you get your bfp in the meantime, which could happen - I hope I'm right!

CD 19 for me, no symptoms. AF could arrive anytime from cd21-28, anybody's guess!

charleylarlie · 17/10/2013 17:01

Sorry, Blamber, I'm blind, you'd put 9dpo in your previous post - can't see for looking!

blamber · 18/10/2013 16:58

thanks, charley!

businessadmin · 20/10/2013 16:27

Hi guys, im afraid AF turned up for me yesterday Sad x

I dnt know wat to do next, i dnt know if i can afford to do anova round ov IUI, Ive ad 2 succesful attempts of IUI. I was wondering if to try IVF x

businessadmin · 20/10/2013 16:28

Un-successful attempts

blamber · 20/10/2013 18:13

Business, I'm so sorry! Stupid AF. I don't know much about iui/ivf. Will you have to pay for ivf as well and would it be much more expensive than iui?

businessadmin · 20/10/2013 18:27

I was offered to try IVF at first but i was scared of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome . IVF is free if u become a egg sharer, but its expensive if u just do it as a single treatment.

charleylarlie · 20/10/2013 19:23

Really sorry to hear that, Business. I never knew that IVF is free if you share your eggs. It sounds as if you've got some decisions to make. Please keep us posted and hope you've treated yourself to something nice as a consolation for getting AF.

How are you doing Blamber? When will you be able to see the new doctor for blood tests?

How's everybody else?

I'm currently on cd 23 and around 9-13dpo. AF due any time from now until the end of the week. No symptoms and fully expect AF/bfn.

blamber · 20/10/2013 19:44

I didn't know that about ivf either!

Charley, that's not long to wait now, hope AF stays away. I don't think symptoms are actually that common so early on.

I am getting the blood test done on Monday and will get the results two days later. I'm seeing the GP after that and will ask for referral, because I have a feeling I might have to wait a while before being seen anyway. I'm just sick of wasting time!

charleylarlie · 20/10/2013 20:04

Good luck for tomorrow, Blamber. Let us know how you get on. I agree, waiting's no fun, You just feel like things should be happening much faster. I hope you get some answers soon. X

kabgab · 21/10/2013 00:31

Hi Girls - just trying to catch up with everyone...Business, that stinks! I completely feel for you and understand the roller coaster you are experiencing. Before you go the IVF route, perhaps seek the counsel of your Dr...can he/she switch your meds (if you take them) to another dose or a different kind (say from Clomid to Femara, etc) then try 1 more round of IUI? Or, no IUI and no Meds, and for a couple cycles try with nothing? Has your DH been tested for sperm quality? Mine was a couple years ago and everything was fine with his count and mobility, but I sort of want to get him tested again just to ensure nothing is off there....It's not just us females that should need worry and fret, their sperm could be off and fixed I think with nutrition and little lifestyle changes to enhance fertility too.

Blamber - hang in there girl. I totally agree with your approach - no time to waste...but in the meanwhile, keep trying every cycle because honestly, you never know. I really believe just when we think it could NEVER happen, it does.

All - So nothing new or great from me....they have me taking birth control pills (Again!) to keep my darn internals "quiet" until this cysts can be aspirated ("drained")..it's supposed to occur some day this week, I just don't know the date yet...I have to be put out (put under anesthesia) but it's a quick procedure, so that's good I guess. I just cannot begin to describe to you all, how fed up I am with this whole thing....I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a 2WW..my cycles have been crap for months for 1 reason or another. It's sort of at a point, for now, where even online I can't read articles about pregnancy or baby names and all the joy articles, because I feel scared that it may never happen for me again, at this juncture. Only time will tell I guess.

blamber · 21/10/2013 11:52

kab, I can imagine you're getting fed up. I hope the procedure will go fine and you won't feel too rough afterwards. Hopefully then you'll have a 2ww soon!

I know what you mean about feeling scared and not wanting to look at anything to do with pregnancy and babies... I have to try hard to stop any negative thoughts, like I waited too long to have a baby or it won't happen. I definitely am not looking at or thinking about baby things. I try to stay positive though. I always think the worst, while in fact I shouldn't worry about it now. The doctor is looking into things and I do think I am ovulating, so I still have a chance to get pregnant, my cycles are just longer.

We'll get there!

charleylarlie · 21/10/2013 19:21

Hi kabgab. Fingers crossed you'll turn a corner with the ttc business after you've recovered from the procedure. It can't be fun having to use contraception when all you want is to have a baby. Sometimes it's hard to see an end in sight, when you're right in the midst of it, but hopefully you'll get a decent run at it soon. And you, Blamber.

It's so hard to be objective about ttc. I've always been a pessimist, so can understand both your worries completely.

cd24 for me and I'm starting to get those horrible sicky stomach cramps like I always do before af. So not too hopeful for this month.

charleylarlie · 22/10/2013 12:20

Oh cripes…

Am on cd25 and have had that sicky crampy feeling like AF was going to arrive any minute for the last day. So, I caved in and peed on one of my internet cheapy pg tests and I swear I saw a very, very, very faint 2nd line. So faint that I couldn’t even see it when I held it up to the light – only at certain angles and far too faint to be picked up on a camera. Shock

Am feeling nervous now, as I have convinced myself that it was probably an evaporation line (though it came up before 10 minutes) or that it must be wrong somehow.

I didn’t use fmu though, and am toying with the idea of getting a different pg test, say Clearblue or Superdrug (which is more sensitive) and having a go with one later and saving another for tomorrow morning.

Haven’t told DP yet, not sure whether to mention nothing and wait and test again when he is here or explain that I caved in and couldn’t be sure if the result was positive or not. I mean, I think it was, but now I’m doubting myself. I put the test in the bin as I kept going round the bend looking at it and knew I'd drive myself potty, especially if the line faded over the day. Confused

kabgab · 22/10/2013 13:21

Take another one, for sure! let us know. xx
