As if ttc wasn't nerve wrecking enough, we like the extra challenge of getting that BFP while still breastfeeding a baby or toddler. While this isn't an easy endouvour, it certainly isn't impossible as many graduates on the previous threads prove.

I'm posting a link here for any newcomers about fertility while breastfeeding.

Am also wonderig if you'd like to have some sort of stats for the tread members. I'll just start myself.

Thanks blackberry we officially started TTC in June but it was a bit half hearted over the summer...thought we'd got it when Af was nearly a week late in August but think it was a 'nearly but not quite' as had an awful Af when she did arrive. Last 2 cycles we've given it our best! So not too long, but only 2 more cycles before we're into a 3 year school gap and I'd really wanted a 2 year gap. If how I'm feeling at the moment doesn't turn out to be a bfp then looks as though I should start charting to check my cycle etc...

sebsmummy1 · 18/10/2013 20:03

Blackberry I didn't know that regarding progesterone temps staying above cover line. You are a mine if information!! Grin

catellington · 18/10/2013 20:52

Update all sorry been offline. Had so many days of flashing smileys I decided it was a conspiracy to get me to use all the sticks so I gave up with opk. Am going to try charting with temp etc next time. As I'm not sure how long my cycle is I'm just going to wait as long as I can bear before testing if AF doesn't show within a reasonable amount of time.

Only thing I'm feeling which might be linked to either or both ovulation and pg is terribly loose wrist / thumb socket - have had trouble with this on and off since last trimester of pg and was told it is relaxin combined with repetitive strain injury from bf. suddenly this week it got so much worse my thumb actually keeps popping out (gross) but might be just tiredness, but if anyone knows anything about relaxin would be interesting to know!

Hi ladies,
I've been lurking a while but now in need of some mn wisdom!
My dd is 12m and a boobmonster, in the process of night weaning now and nothing AF wise,

So please do you have tips for getting AF back? I want to continue bf too.
Thanks in advance x

Hi Blue Smile How frustrating to have AF a week late in August and confusing symptoms again now! I don't think you are bf too much to prevent implantation at the moment, but I know how it always feels like forever when you are ttc!

How frustrating Cat! Hope you are dtd anyway Blush Hopefully charting will make things a bit easier next month if you don't get a bfp!

Thanks Blackberry Smile I've been eating lactation cookies non stop but not much is helping still Sad Feeding's also been really painful and I'm getting wicked teeth marks, so I'm wondering if latch issues are part of the problem Sad Going to see lactation consultant in a few days though so hopefully will get some help! Have you poas again yet? FX for you anyway Smile! And I had no idea that getting a proper bbt rise meant you had enough progesterone for implantation!

Mommasnugglesarethebest · 19/10/2013 06:46

Thanks blackberry, I do still feed on demand and she demands a lot, I've recently moved into the spare room to try to night wean, so she move I'd half cot/half cosleeping with her dad if she needs company. At the moment feeds a lot first thing in the morning then after naps and before bed (and whenever else she feels like it!)
Last night was the first 12h stretch without feeding her overnight (she sleeps like a dream for her dad)
Are there any supplements recommended?
I'm getting inpatient now Hmm

sebsmummy1 · 19/10/2013 07:25

Hi everyone,
Sorry I've not been back, been busy with DS1's birthday party and family visiting.
I've not had any signs of ov or AF returning, but the past couple of nights DS2 has woken in the night but been happy just to take a bottle and last night he did 8pm till 7.45 so I am totally well rested today Grin
Yesterday he only had his morning feed, a bit before he went to bed and a mid-afternoon feed so maybe he is weaning himself a bit? I'm going with the distraction/don't offer don't refuse approach.
Thanks for your advice everyone an good luck to everyone!
Koko

KokoLoko · 19/10/2013 14:22

Sorry, thread didn't update properly! Momma, we are in exactly the same situation!
Hopefully we both get what we want soon, even if that is AF Grin I worked out I've only had 1 AF per year since 2009 (and none at all in 2012 except pp bleeding) due to pregnancies and feeding. I think I've forgotten what they're like or I'd probably not be desperate to have it back!

sebsmummy1 · 20/10/2013 05:24

Smiley face this month in FMU Grin. 2 days earlier than last month so I am hoping for a longer LP.

I have been doing everything I can do to optimise chances. Using preseed, legs in the air for 20 mins or so after, mooncup in straight afterwards and left in for the night. OH doesn't know it yet but I'm going to try and jump him twice today lol. I think we actually stand a chance this month, this eggy is not going to go to waste Halloween Smile

eggsnbeans · 20/10/2013 07:51

Yay for the smiley and double dtd sebs Grin sounds like you have your bases (or eggs anyway!) covered! Does the mooncup hold the sperm in pretty well? I was contemplating getting one but didn't know how well it would go given my cervix is quite a bit lower than it used to be Blush So many people say the whole 'legs in the air' thing is useless, but I've always done it and sorely anything that keeps the spermies further in is a good thing!

I don't think any supplements help AF come back earlier Mama, I think it's just a case of waiting! But you should be in line to see it soon Smile Have you been having any cramps or EWCM patches?

Sounds good for the triphasic chart Blackberry, hopefully you're just a bit early poas! All fingers and toes X for you Grin

Mommasnugglesarethebest · 20/10/2013 08:04

Hi thank you, waiting is so frustrating Smile
I've had pms on a 4 weekly bases the last 3 months and last month a day of Ewcm but nowhere near the amount I could expect with ov (sorry for tmi) so I was all set and hopeful for either more cm or an AF. But my poor baba had an awful September with bugs and teething and basically went back to being exclusively bfShock and moved back into our bed for a bit (we coslept for 9m) so the good news is I lost done weight last month!! Bad news now I have no clue on my cycle and it all feels like it's never going to happenHmm

I think I'm going to start taking spatone again to try to boost my iron

Ps. A dr friend of mine recommended a soft cup as a fertility aid, I was considering it

sebsmummy1 · 20/10/2013 08:43

Thanks eggs Grin

Phase one of the double pounce completed lol. I've left him sleeping it off whilst Seb and I have brekkie.

The mooncup catches the sperm fine. I have ordered 2 reusable Instead Softcups to use if I don't catch this cycle as they sit higher in the vagina thus closer to the cervix.

I read The Sperm Meets Egg Plan this morning and it was very interesting, learnt a few new things actually. Would recommend a read if you haven't already. Haven't got the link to post on this computer but if you google it I'm sure it will pop up at the top.

How you doing Blackberry? Xx

^hugs^ blackberry. You just wait, every month that goes by your fertility improves so I'm sure it won't be long xxxx

ekk0 · 20/10/2013 20:43

hi, can i join you all. been lurking on this thread for ages. i have two DDs one is 3.9 and the other 19mths. I really want to try and conceive no. 3 but have no AF. With DD1 AF returned at 14mths. I fully night-weaned DD2 a month or so ago (having previously done til around 5am) but we just went away to my sisters wedding overseas and everything got undone by jet lag so I am redoing the night weaning - argh. I think tho that DD2 is much more of a milk monster than her older sister was but I still keep hoping AF is just about to arrive. I am totally ignorant of temping/charting etc. although i did buy some cheap OPKs but after a few weeks i kind of gave up in despair as presumed no AF so no ovulation. Anyway, I'm kind of driving myself (and my DH) mad thinking about it so thought it would be good to find some others in a similar position. I keep hoping we might just catch a first egg, but know this is probably wishful thinking...

Wildwaterfalls · 20/10/2013 20:46

Oh Blackberry Hmm.. I was so hoping this was your month!

Hope you have lots of lovely baths and blue cheese though. And some Brie for me Smile

Will keep lurking!

sebsmummy1 · 21/10/2013 08:58

Ekk0 I am definitely not an expert here but it sounds as though you are doing everything right to try and get AF back. Night weaning is definitely the first step, trying to get a good block if sleep (at least 6 hours) is apparently a really good way to reignite fertility.

They also say try to reduce endless sleepy suckling as that makes your body produce more hormone. If you can keep the feeds short but effective. There is info out there about compressing the breast while baby is feeding to maximise the amount they take in the shortest time.

Have you considered allowing a bottle to drop a bf?

Blackberry is very good with advice re the don't refuse don't offer business. My little one is much more of a fish pie monster so he doesn't ask and I now feed him twice a day and he mainly sleeps through. This is the first month my cycle has been pretty normal with ovulation today at cd 16.
