I really hope I haven't missed someone else starting this!

OP posts:
Caip · 04/08/2013 11:25

I tested 2 days early last time and DH was completely unsympathetic when I was upset I got a negative!
I had 2 frozen embies transfered on Friday and they were the only 2 they needed to thaw. OTD is earlier that I expected and is the 13th which is the last day in my old job!

sunnyg · 04/08/2013 15:04

Hi All
Firstly I"m sorry I have been so AWOL.

2 weeks ago on a Sat morning my twins arrived by a very big emergency section at just 28 weeks. Spontanteious labour, don't know more than that really. Full labour pains. they tried to give me the steriod injection for their lungs but no time. Emergency cection minutes later. whole time from start to finish including the labour was no more than 4 hours. I think.

Babies whisked away to St Georges NICU asap. I saw each for 1 minute. For first week they were stable on and off. but alive.

I was left at my hospital all alone for 2 days with the worst post natal care. DH at St georges with babies.
Terrible pain from cection as so quick. No recovery, hospital awful. discharged me less than 48 hours after section and wanted me to get a cab to babies hospital
Week on NICU ward blur. More concerned with babies.

Babies very small as you can imagine. Heartbreakingly so. Both about 1.2kg when born. 2 pounds I think. NOt putting on weight yet but apprently normal at this stage.

Babies now back at Local hospital in High dependandcy in SCBU - special care baby unit.. good to be home, living out of bag for week.
still touch and go with babies. but we have hope. They are now 30 weeks and 2 days gestation and each day on is good. Have to take each day at time.

Had to name in a hurry, hadn't really thought about names. Nurses needed names

Albert and Annabel.
Each day progress for each different. Yesterday Annie stable and Albert very poorly. So hard to see him. Impossible. like a micro baby skeleton. (crying while saying that)

I know things will get better.

Have held babies a few times. Some days can touch babies inside incubator and some days not. hopefully will be able to touch/hold more asap.

sorry this message so crap and haven?t caught up with all your news but will do so at some stage oxo

Caip · 04/08/2013 16:34

Wow sunny, what a couple of weeks.

I have everything crossed that Albert and Annabel (really lovely names) get bigger and stronger as soon as possible so you can cuddle them and look after them at home

I hope physically you're feeling better. Take good care of yourself and stay positive xx

gingernutdreams · 04/08/2013 21:06

Wow Sunny you really have been through the mill, haven't you. Sending you big hugs and all the best wishes to you, DH and your newborns. I hope they gain in strength by the day, and you get to enjoy your time with your new family. Take care of yourself too, and be strong. Lots and lots of love to you all.

xxx

Pocket1 · 04/08/2013 21:37

Sunny my love, wow! Am sending up a prayer for your beautiful twins. They are in the right place for all the care and attention they need. But I appreciate how you're feeling too. Look after yourself hon and keep us to date xxxSmile

Pocket1 · 04/08/2013 21:38

Ps. Sunny, our little girl is also called Anabel. Fancy that Grin

HoopHopes · 04/08/2013 23:28

Oh bless you Sunny so sorry they came so early. Gad they well enough for local hospital now. No consolation for you but I think good post natal care after a c section is non existent in NHS... 2 days then discharge is fairly normal. They seem so busy and I think if people realised how little care one gets post natally it would help reduce lots of disillusionments etc and perhaps help mentally too. Hope your 2 little ones grow and do well .. Am sure you will be very busy at the hospital all the time ( the only advantage of them being in hospital is you will get to recover from c section and sleep before they are home!!). Do et us knew when you can how they are doing, or if you post on another thread about them link us up to it!! Prayers/ good thoughts or whatever does not offend for your family!! What beautiful names Xx

Beginningofthejourney · 05/08/2013 09:42

Wow sunny congratulations on your new arrivals. My bubba arrived early after just 4 hour labour, although he was just over 6 weeks early but I know how stressful scbu is with the ups and down with just one baby so can only imagine what's like with two. Hope they both have a good day today and you get lots of cuddles.

One of the mums on the July baby group had her baby at 25 weeks she has mentioned 'pop n grow' they send a little pack of clothes for babies in scbu that accommodate lines and breathing support etc. I found them on Facebook if you are interested. They are cute little outfits that will fit Albert and Annie.
Thinking of you all xxx

Luckystarfour · 06/08/2013 15:33

sunny so good to hear from you, although I so wish it were under not such difficult circumstances. Keep strong lovely your twins need you. You have all come this far so dig deep and I so hope you'll soon be snuggling up together at home. Lots of love sunny and sending strength your way xxxx

wellerbabe · 07/08/2013 07:03

Sunny I am thinking of you and the twins, you have fought so hard for them to be here they will have your strength to battle through. A friend had a baby at 28 weeks weighing 2lbs and she is a perfectly healthy 5 year old now. Keep us posted and take care xxx

gingernutdreams · 10/08/2013 15:47

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all doing well, especially you Sunny and your twins.

I have put a couple of scan pics on my profile if anyone fancies having a look.

xx

Luckystarfour · 12/08/2013 22:32

Just reporting back, another negative my end this morning from this unstiimilated IUI round although it came as no surprise today as a full blown period started on Saturday. :-(

So straight on the second attempt - we always knew wed have to give it three chances. At least it's alot quicker than waiting between ICSI rounds.

Do others find however you are really hormonal and emotional after the big bleed following a cycle. I figure because my lining and hormones have been built up by progesterone this might be adding to things - but the perhaps I'm just kidding myself and another failed cycle just reinforces the previous pain experienced?!?!

twinklestar2 · 15/08/2013 13:17

Oh lucky, sorry to read this. You're allowed to be sad love, bfns when we're at this stage are so cruel :(

Luckystarfour · 16/08/2013 08:11

Thanks twinklestar I've been so surprised how heavy I have been since this failed IUI (never have such a heavy bleed following ICSI and I had drugs as part of my regime then) consultant said I could be the aspirin and the new gel pessary building my lining thicker than before. For 4 days it sent me into such a hormonal low :-( but I finally had a breakthrough yesterday and thankfully felt more myself again.

How is everyone getting along? It's very quiet on here of late!!! Xxx

Caip · 16/08/2013 08:25

Glad you're feeling better Lucky

Well amazingly I got a BFP on Tuesday.... It's not sunk in yet but have a scan booked for 2 weeks so that's the next milestone. We had a FET with 2 blasts

Hope everyone is well xx

Luckystarfour · 16/08/2013 22:08

Brilliant news caip that's wonderful. Was that with collected sorry via TESA too or am I getting confused. Believe it hun - it's real ;-)

Caip · 16/08/2013 22:19

Not sure what you mean Lucky
was frozen blasts and at Oxford Fertility Unit. Not sure if this that answers your question?

twinklestar2 · 17/08/2013 00:19

Caip do you know what grades your blasts were? So pleased for you love, I've seen your name on these boards for a long time, so pleased you get to graduate.

Did you do anything to prepare for FET? I'm wondering if I should...

Caip · 17/08/2013 07:24

Thanks lucky. No idea about grades. We had 5 frozen, 4 day 5s and a day 6 which I know would have been the last line they used. The first 2 defrosted perfectly so the other 3 are still frozen. I don't seem to have been given - or asked for - as much detailed info as others on here
I don't think I did anything. I almost stopped drinking but couldn't resist the odd glass but I was very chilled out about it all. I was winding down at work because I've changed jobs and because I didn't do downregging the only drugs were tablets and then pessaries which are so easy and don't take over your life like injections at specific times can do. Also, because I start a new job on Monday, I have been far more relaxed about the thought of it not working as there are other things to concentrate on.
When are you doing FET? X

Pocket1 · 17/08/2013 15:12

Caip that's brilliant news. Massive congratulations! xSmileSmileSmile

gingernutdreams · 17/08/2013 18:07

Huge congrats Caip, so very very pleased for you! Welcome to the BFP club! Grin

Lucky sorry to hear about your BFN, hope you are feeling better now. I had loads of heavy periods after my ivf attempts, but it does settle down eventually. Fingers crossed for your next try. xx

Pocket1 · 17/08/2013 21:23

Ginger, I haven't managed to log on via computer yet and can't see your scan pics on mobile - but I can imagine how fab they are. Smile How many weeks are you now? Massive congrats again GrinGrinGrin

Luckystarfour · 18/08/2013 09:38

Sorry caip I meant was the sperm collected by TESA (collection) for your blasts, but I think I recall not!

Thanks ginger returned to my more sane self now the dreaded heavy period has finished and my hormones resettled - thank goodness! Scan on Monday so straight into round two of IUI. We shall give IUI three attempts (it feels a strange step after 5 failed rounds of ICSI) but it still feels right to give this natural route a try with the donor sperm.

I do keep wondering about ARGC and whether try can work any miracles for us before we opt for the double donor round (if these 3 IUI attempts still fail). Has anyone really had no luck with their own sperm and eggs and get ARGC has worked a miracle? Remember by hubby has 2% morphology and even TESSA has failed us and my eggs are supposedly fine but equally showed genetic difs, with our last round of ICSI with donor sperm (may be in relation to increased stimulation).

Have a good weekend all

wellerbabe · 20/08/2013 08:43
