Ages, about 4 years, 13 months on clomid, two miscarriages and an ectopic pg later I have a beautiful 7month ds. It was all with it. :)

vkr · 06/04/2006 16:02

ds - 4 years.
ds now 3.8 - so, so far for no 2 - 3.7 years

Hopecat · 06/04/2006 16:07

Hi Charliecat.

'Normal' couples have around a 25% chance of conceivng every month. Basically it's a lottery, but health professionals won't even consider seeing you before you've been trying for a year - especially if you're 25 and healthy.

If she asks you for advice, send her over here! This site is gold-dust if you're TTC.

sweetkitty · 06/04/2006 16:08

DD1 - 9 months
DD2 - first time of trying was a bit of a Shock thought it would take as long again!

wannaBe1974 · 06/04/2006 16:34

DS: 13 months, currently been trying for no 2 since May of last year.

Agree with Hopecat, most doctors etc won't even investigate if a couple has been trying for less than a year. 4 months of trying isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.

sandyballs · 06/04/2006 16:37

buffythenappyslayer · 06/04/2006 16:39

Piffle · 06/04/2006 16:39

ds - while I was on the pill - following a gastric flu. Born 02/1994
dd took 3 weeks from deciding we would try to looking at a + test Born 10/2002

Had an ectopic in 11/04 - had been trying since January 03.
And have been trying ever since for that elusive number 3.....

Her age is on her side, both for conceiving naturally and/or if they failed to conceive for getting help in time.

In the Boots magazine a while ago it said this:-

Out of 100 couples trying to concieve naturally
20 will concieve within 1 month
70 will concieve within 6 months
85 will concieve within a year
90 will concieve within 18 months
95 will concieve within 2 years

dd about 8 months, this pregnancy, first time of trying and i still havent got over the shock!

hulababy · 07/04/2006 18:43

With DD, Dh and I were 26 when we first started TTC. We went 15 months than had an early mc. Then took same length of time again before concieving with DD. When we TTC for #2 we went 18 months with no glimmer of success and ended up calling it quits. We didn't have any tests or treatment in that time. Would have been next step if we had have continued.
