LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 15/10/2012 17:58

We're ttc #2 in dec and I know it's a really silly thing to get excited about, but just started taking folic acid and feeling very excited about it!

Sorry for the pointless thread.

OP posts:
Tricycletops · 17/12/2012 19:01

Thanks for the welcome everybody! Winterpansy, sounds like a really crap situation - I hope it improves.

Bizarrely having made the appointment I'm feeling much more broody!

BaublesandTree · 17/12/2012 19:37

Welcome ineedahug and tricycletops and other newbies! Sorry to hear about the work situation Winter I had a horrible job when I was younger. I felt bullied, harassed and looked down on for being female. I couldn't complain because the whole company seemed to think it was normal so I just quit. I can't believe they think mediation is the answer! Well done for standing up for yourself and I hope they come up with a better solution so that you can move on and hopefully stay in the job.

I have made an appt to have my implant removed on 10th Jan! it's got me really excited about the TTC thing Grin

SeriousStuff · 18/12/2012 00:04

Welcome all newcomers!!!!

It has taken me a while to catch up on all these posts but just wanted to say, to everyone working through obstacles and currently having a generally tough time (especially winterpansy), I hope 2013 brings with it some great news for you all!

I'm just waiting for [potentially] the last visit from AF...scary thought but I reckon I'm finally ready for it! 2 weeks until TTC finally begins!

moominlike · 18/12/2012 00:29

Thanks literaryone ! Wine

Sorry to hear about your work troubles winterpansy I hope you manage to find something soon. Our entire department was put at risk of redundancy last week (merry christmas eh) but am keeping my head firmly in the sand until the new year! I would also point out that I was forced to get my a*se in gear with christmas this year as I'm going on holiday this week - usually it's a bit more panicked and last minute!

Hi to everyone I haven't said hi to before :)

moominlike · 18/12/2012 00:31

Ooo and very excited (if slightly envious!) for those starting ttc in the new year - fingers crossed for lots of bfps in 2013 x

literaryone · 18/12/2012 04:50

Hello! Checking in to see what everyone's up to. winterpansy, am so sorry that things haven't panned out as would be best. Hope everything looks up soon. Hug.

I've had a rubbish couple of days highly stressed out because of work, and two things happened to set me off grieving again. One, one of those damn BabyCentre emails about your pregnancy week-by-week (I subscribed at around 15 weeks) turned up suddenly in my inbox (after my setting a filter to delete them because I couldn't find a way to unsubscribe) and reminded me that my pregnancy "is now 33 weeks!" Angry No, it isn't. Two, I met up with a friend who was passing through this city and had lunch with him, during which he talked ad nauseum about his baby daughter, asked me repeatedly about work and never once asked me how we're doing after the miscarriage and this is the first time we're meeting after it. I guess one has to write some people off at certain times and get back in touch when feeling less fragile.

Grrr.

So is anyone shifting over to TTC this month at all? Christmas booze sacrificers?

Frizz1986 · 18/12/2012 22:10

Hi everyone,
I get married at the start of April and we are planning on ttc straight away, but I am way too excited!
It will be our 1st and both of us are really looking forward to the future.I think our plan is to start trying at the closest ovuation date to the wedding whether it is a week or so before or after.
I have just taken my last contraceptive pill to get my cycles etc back to normal and visted a doctor a few weeks ago to get some advice and a check up. They have told me I can start taking various conception vitamins now to start getting my body ready!
It feels very strange that after years of taking my contraceptive, I have taken my last (for a while at least)
I really cant believe that in only a few months we will be starting ttc.

Tricycletops · 18/12/2012 23:04

literaryone I am Sad for you - he sounds incredibly insensitive and/or heedless.

Frizz - sounds like we shall be TTCing at the same time!

Leafmould · 19/12/2012 00:23

Yes, I am Sad and Angry for you, literary one. It is very insensitive, and you won't be the only one who has been affected by this. Can you email them to tell them that they should have the unsubscribe instructions really clear?

So tough to have people unable to realize the effect their thoughtless chatter and inability to find the words to talk about your heart break.
I hope you are feeling better.

Not shifting ttc any further forward, but started talking with dp about dates ie off ttc in may, maybe have baby in spring of 2014! Sounds long way away though.

thinkineed a hug and frizz Ooooh weddings! I hope you both have lovely weddings, and feel really positive about your new phase in life.

literaryone · 19/12/2012 03:42

Leafmould, I checked back on BabyCentre in a calmer frame of mind and realized that I had forgotten my password and hadn't received the message with the link to change it... and this was 3.5 months ago when even seeing the email really hurt so much, so I just set a filter to get rid of them. I got a new password now, logged in and changed preferences and got a little message saying "You've deleted your pregnancy information, if you've had a loss, we're sorry" and so on. Which was very sensitively put. So it wasn't them, it was just me turned incapable by grief a few months ago...

Frizz, congratulations and wishing you all the best!

Leafmould · 19/12/2012 10:19

Well done literary one it's not easy to grab the bull by the horns.

On a slight tangent, PASSWORDS! Hard to guess, but easy for you to remember? Hmmmm. It it is so hard to think of words which fit both of those criteria.

Will try to update the list today. . . Have a sick child off school today though, so forgive me if I don't manage it. Do you think we should have some list reduction tactics? It is a bit mega.

somethingcool · 19/12/2012 20:32

Hi all,
Seems like ages since I checked on this thread, everything moves so fast, I can't keep up!
Hugs literaryone some people are so bizzarely insensitive. I'd much rather somebody tried to say something comforting than avoid the issue, even if they don't really know how to say it. Anything is better than nothing.

So, AF has arrived earlier than expected so we're on the BFP in January bus already Grin
Hope to see a few of you there x

literaryone · 20/12/2012 04:44

Leafmould, you said it. So hard to think of new passwords. I keep forgetting them. Am dimwitted that way. Xmas Grin

somethingcool, how exciting! Here's hoping for a BFP for the new year! And thanks for the support. Xmas Smile

amiready · 20/12/2012 19:52

Hello everyone, have not been around for a bit as moving house and no internet etc. Thanks so much for all the work situation advice - things are better. Contract not signed yet but hopefully in January - that will be five months after starting the job - about time I think! Hopefully they will see that they are being unfair to keep me hanging on! We were supposed to be waiting ttc until after Christmas but at the weekend dh just didn't use the condoms! I am crap at stopping (tmi) to remind him, so hey ho! I (think) was right on due ovulation. Now am trying to symptom spot but it's all hopeless - I feel totally normal! But I can't help but think why if you're ovulating, and there aren't problems - why doesn't it happen immediately??! why all the months of waiting? What could possibly be stopping it happen?! Anyway, will do a test on Christmas day, as really want to have a bit of a drink! That will only be 9 days later though so will probably be negative anyway. Sigh. I'm so bad at waiitng for stuff.

thundernlightning · 21/12/2012 04:59

Hello everyone!

DH and I have finally picked a date to TTC our first and it's 18 months away. That's a lot of time! I'm excited but the date feels like such a long way away!

Aside from being excited and delighted, um, are there things I should be doing?
I had a surprise pg that ended in an early mc in summer last year, so I'm quite anxious too. Advice? Suggestions?

winterpansy · 22/12/2012 14:17

Thanks for all your comments. Been a bit down about everything so avoiding this thread as we are now hoping to start ttc in Feb/Mar, rather than next week, if I can get a new job quickly.
It's only a few months of delay which will hopefully fly in.

I'm still on the folic acid and am not going to drink too much over Christmas so am still in ttc mode!

literary that's so crap about the email and your insensitive friend. I can only imagine how awful it made you feel. Hope you've picked yourself up a wee bit by now.

Everybody else doing OK? Hopefully there will be a good few BFPs over Christmas - I can't wait to check in a week or so and see some good news!

Hello everybody, hope you are all having a good weekend. I had to miss 2 of my Xmas events because of illness Sad pretty much better now though. Took the kids Xmas shopping today. . . Sweet to see them getting excited about picking things for family. Shopping centre was heaving though.

thundernlightning I read a leaflet 'getting pregnat' at the pharmacy the other day. What i remember it It said is eat healthily, aim to maintain a healthy BMi. For men, wear loose fitting underwear to keep testicles cool!

winter pansy sorry that you have been having a low few days. You are right, the time will pass quickly enough! Keeping on with the folic acid is a good idea. Hope some good potential jobs come up for you to apply for in January.

kate hope you are having a relaxing time now you have broken up for Xmas hols! Enjoy your well deserved rest.

Hi to everyone else too!

thundernlightning · 23/12/2012 01:28

Thanks for the info and the updated list Leaf! (I'm soooo excited to finally be on a list!) I hope you are completely recovered now. It's so exhausting to be sick this time of year.

Good luck on the job hunt Winterpansy, and good luck to everyone starting TTC!

amiready · 23/12/2012 11:37

Thanks so much for the list leafmould - think I missed the news about OP being preggers! That's fab! And quick!

Waiting2wait2wait · 23/12/2012 12:42

Hi everyone,

Can I join in? I am finding it hard to wait to start ttc quietly and I think DH will go a bit mad if I talk about babies anymore than I currently do, so somewhere to wait sounds like a great plan!

We had planned to start ttc #1 in Jan, but DH has now been told he is off to a hot, sandy (yucky!) place again in July 14 for 5 months (his 4th deployment in 3 years, I am not at all muttering about this :)) so as much as I hate the idea, ttc in Jan doesn't seem like a good plan for us so we are now waiting until Nov/Dec 14 when he gets home. It seems like a very long time away to me! But at least I can use his deployment to come off the pill etc and I have finally just got a permanent teaching job this month, so waiting does have some uses!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

KateBeckett · 23/12/2012 21:21

Hi guys,
leaf thanks for the updated list and for the well wishes, sorry I've Ben a bit absent - the last week or so of work was manic! And things at home are not good right now :( DP's amazing, funny, warm dad has cancer, and we found out today he will be in hospital over Christmas. We think it will be his last Christmas, not too sure how log he has left but h is in a lot of pain and quite confused / doesn't know what is going on a lot of the time from the pain killers. I am absolutely gutted and have been on the verge of tears fr a few days but after finding out he won't be home for Christmas Day I just feel like shit. DP is not coping well, and I feel like I'm not much support for him either. He would have been an amazing granda - feel like I am grieving for him already and he hasn't gone yet :(

Oh god. Sorry for that, I just can't seem to hold it in today...

Hope you are all having a better holibob! Good luck to those who are just starting to ttc! Xxx

KateBeckett · 23/12/2012 21:23

waiting well done in your permanent job!!! That is what I am waiting in before do and I start ttc!

thundernlightning · 24/12/2012 00:18

Oh, Kate what sad news. I hope things pan out better than expected. (And personally, I'm not a fan of trying to hold it all in, especially when it's something so very stressful - it always ends with me standing in the fruit aisle sobbing over a bruised banana or something. Much better to talk about things IMO.)

Waiting congratulations on your position! You must be pleased. I got permanent status at my workplace in October. It was amazing how much stress evaporated when that happened.

Sorelip · 24/12/2012 17:34

Hi all, just a flying visit. I won't be TTCing for a while, at least until I've had the results of my colposcopy and had any necessary treatment, and that won't be for a few months,

Merry Christmas everyone!
