Egypt · 03/11/2003 19:27

dont worry sibble. i had loads of red wine about a week after conception. a friend of mine went on a complete bender when she was about a month pregs and didnt know. her baby is fine. saw a friend last night who is a nurse and she said that even women who are complete alcoholics can end up having perfectly normal babies. docs tell them not to go cold turkey but to cut down on booze as much as can, as this is better for the baby than the body having withdrawal symptoms!!

quackers · 03/11/2003 21:02

Sibble, sounds really promising!!!!!!!!! Jems, grt u got internet at home now!! Any signs??????

sibble I found out I was up the duff with dd about 3 days after our annual xmas drinks party, I had been drinking from noon to midnight! Don't worry love, it'll be fine!

Jemma7 · 03/11/2003 21:44

Wey-hey Ladies......... Jems back!!!

DP in the bath so being quick - haven't explained the whole mumsnet thing yet

Sounds good sibble - fingers crossed for you - maybe having the wine was a good thing - they say things happen when u least expect it etc.

I have had a glass of wine tonight - feel a bit bad myself - don't usually, maybe its a sign??

Hope everyone's still dancing and chanting

Wid · 03/11/2003 21:45

I'm on Day 30 and waiting for AF (or PG!)too, but hoping it's not going to be another 42-day cycle! It seems there are so many of us waiting.

How did Cinnamon get on? She was going to test this last weekend?

Happy waiting everyone.

eyelash · 03/11/2003 21:52

Apologies - very long.

Sibble - do the test!!!! I for one would be so pleased if it happened for you this month. If it does don't worry about the drinking! If it doesn't at least dh is willing to try again. I will be logging in the morning (uk time) to check.

Good luck to everybody else trying and those of you waiting.

My af arrived like clockwork yesterday but didn't expect to be pregnant this month as having well deserved drinkees after early miscarriage last month. Wasn't going to try this month as didn't want August baby but just worked dates out with dh and assuming I ovulate on day 18/20 (which is my norm) then any expected dod would be end of August - both my previous births have been 11 and 14 days late so no point hanging around.

For those of you who have been trying for ages and have not used them I would strongly recommend you try some kind of ovulation kit/persona. You can learn so much about your cycle. Even on a regular 28 day cycle ovulation times can vary greatly.

As for the drinking - not sure if this is true or not but my friend was told when she went for preliminary fertility investigations that the worst time to drink in the first couple of weeks of pregnancy was when the egg was forming. Alchol has been shown to affect conception rates. I seem to think it affects a man's sperm as well but they have to be careful for up to three months. So there you go.

lazyeye · 04/11/2003 08:37

Good luck Jems, Quacks and all the rest - fingers really crossed for you - you were all so supportive of me when I was trying.........so all the very best

quackers · 04/11/2003 08:45

Hi Jems and all! Thanks Lazyeye but my BBT charting is all over the show. Anyone any good at these???? Got a rise for one day when I thought I'd ov'd then the last 2 days it has dipped dramatically to an all time low!! It's annoying!!! Help appreciated!
Good luck eyelash with trying!!!!!! Good luck Wid!
Anyone going to test today???

M2T · 04/11/2003 08:57

Helloooooo All!

Well AF arrived on Saturday bang on time! My cycle has been amazingly predicatable and regular since having ds! I've got a 30 day cycle..... so am I right in assuming that I should ovulate approx 14 days from the 1st day of AF????

I'm such an amateur!

Helsbels · 04/11/2003 09:02

Morning - I'm croaking with a v sore throat after chanting until midnight. My calender is back now and I found I am on day 28 so have blown it this month. Hope you are ok Sibble. I didn't find out I was pg until 2nd Jan after drinking a whole bottle of champagne on Christmas day and then about 6 pints of beer on Boxing day plus NYE and my DS was and still is perfect. Worrying does more harm than anything else!! How are you Jems? Sorry Quackers I know nothing about any charts as you can tell

CountessDracula · 04/11/2003 09:20

Did our chanting work Jems?

BigBird · 04/11/2003 09:58

janey - I have a few days off and need to spend an hour catching up!

Welcome all the new recruits!

Good luck Jem, sibble & everyone

I got my progesterone results back - 41. Doc sais they are ok but will browse the web now for more info. Am thinking of making an appt at fertility centre in Jan.

Jemma7 · 04/11/2003 10:04

Well it has certainly kept AF at bay until now

Nothing happened yet - still getting the odd ache but i am only getting one every couple of hours and its only lasting for a few minutes - usually when i'm due on i get constant aches for days !

C'mon, someone test - we need another graduate since Niknik's left us

Helsbels · 04/11/2003 10:26

Was thinking this morning that it's strange that one or more of us could be pg....I'm glad the chantings working so far Jems, will shake rattles later as an extra precaution

Jemma7 · 04/11/2003 11:24

Who is due to test soon then?
Am getting confused with who, what when etc

BigBird · 04/11/2003 11:27

i'm not due till next week Jems.

Quacks - dunno about your temps - seems strange. Were you ill/hungover ??? Did they go back 'up' after that ? I've skipped temping this month as was getting tired of it but I temped a few days aftter I thought I would O and temps weren't up so I don't know where I am this month. It's hard to keep it all up month after month!

M2T · 04/11/2003 11:34

I'm due my next AF around the 30th November.... so if it doesn't show by the 7th December, I'll be doing a test then.

Helsbels · 04/11/2003 11:41

Im not testing until christmas eve!!!

Jemma7 · 04/11/2003 12:09

Can't remember who said it yesterday but i am going to steal their idea.

If i am PG i am going to wrap the pissy stick up for DP - he will wonder what the hell it is - it's his birthday next week so it would make it extra special!
Can just picture his face, all pleased and excited then realising what he's holding!

Here's hoping AF holds off

M2T · 04/11/2003 12:19

Jemma7 - lol @ pissy stick! Thats a good idea though..... I might be doing that for Valentines day.

Helsbels · 04/11/2003 12:21

It was me!! That's why I'm not testing until Christmas eve as I can't keep a secret like that!!

Jemma7 · 04/11/2003 12:42

DP would kill me if i left it longer to tell him - not sure if i tested on Thursday i'd even be able to wait until next Tuesday (His b'day) to tell him

I will prob wrap it up and tell him its an earlier present - God listen to me, anyone would think i'd found out i defo was pregnant
Wishful thinking! !

Thanks for the idea Helsbels BTW

Helsbels · 04/11/2003 13:09

Well Jems, if you're not this month maybe you'll be able to give him an extra christmas pressie too!! My dh would kill me but I think he'd be so over the moon he'd forget to be cross!! Also, I have all the family round on Christmas Day so it would be fab to tell everyone at once, now I'm wishful thinking too!! I already have a nice pissy stick sized box!!!

oliveoil · 04/11/2003 13:20

Well, we have been attempting 'relations' this w/end but dd has decided to turn into a 2ft birth control device and won't sleep. Had to laugh when dh went in her room and I heard him say 'we are trying to make you a brother or sister, shut up'.
