Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

So sorry Kveta and festie.. hope you're both holding up ok.

And congratulations duck!

Tarty - I'm also awaiting AF. I think it should have sprung by now, but unpredictable cycles so I'm not entirely sure. I'm desperate to take a test, but trying to ignore the urges - planning on taking one in a week or two if the witch hasn't appeared (would rather an AF than a BFN). Mad symptom spotting going on until then...

TartyMcFarty · 27/08/2011 16:58

I really didn't have any symptoms with DD1, so at least I'm saved that obsession

notnowImreading · 27/08/2011 17:40

I've just spent a happy hour reading the shiney penguin thread - don't miss!GrinGrinGrin

HeidiHole · 27/08/2011 23:45

Sorry for festie and kveta that is really sad news. Don't know what to say :( . Congrats mildert though we definitely were overdue some good news on this thread!

I'm on 6dpo so just waiting patiently

Tibbycat · 28/08/2011 11:14

Feeling a bit down about it....month one, you always dream it will be on your first try but I don't think it is.

Despite two weeks of on and off ovary pain, up's and downs emotionally, bb's itchy and occasional shooting pains, constipation, runny nose and a day ago, hot flashes...I'm still BFN tested daily since 10dpo...Sad AF due Wed and I'm expecting her to rear her very ugly head.

Best friend pregnant with number two which reduced me to a pool of tears when I heard. This was just after OV....Anyone else find around OV that you're really emotional?? I'm actually ridiculous!! Cried at the Katy Perry 'Friday night' video! A week post OV though now and I seem ok now.

Most of my friends apart from the ones who have conception troubles ALL fell the first month they ttc so feeling a lot of pressure. I'm also older than a lot of them. They are all 26/27 and I'm 30. Statistically is does make a difference.

I'm off abroad tomorrow to Italy with work, feel like it's the last place I want to be. I won't be drinking either so I better get my piss-poor excuses ready to why I'm not. Packing tampax as I'm expecting i will be needing it Wed :(

Hubby keeps saying to be cool about it... So easy for him to say and actually annoying he does say it! Angry

Sad x

festiemum · 28/08/2011 14:51

Oh Tibby, they don't understand how all consuming it becomes, I don't think. It's a ridiculous rollercoaster ride all told!

I am feeling a bit better today. Had a very crampy, bloody day yesterday, which kind of adds insult to injury really! Not in pain today though, so looking forward to getting this bleed out of the way and getting on with another month of SWI-ing. ("I suppose I'll just have to keep filling you up with spunk" -as my DH so delicately put it!!)

Hope everyone is OK today - Kveta - how are you doing? Has the crampiness abated? Hope so... :)

Kveta · 28/08/2011 15:54

hey, sorry to hear everyone elses woes :( it seems v. down (and angry) on this thread. I'm ok festiemum - very crampy, very bloody for 2 days now, and such a gut upset too. i'm delightful company... lots of ibuprofen and lots of sanitary towels... feeling a wee bit better this afternoon, so doing some baking to cheer myself up!

DH is being as understanding as he can be, but has said he doesn't quite 'get' it - although he did say that was more because it's not physically happening to him than anything else. he is v. sad about the actual miscarriage. he is also keen to get started again soon!
i plan to drink a lot of wine this week before we start TTC again, i haven't had a drink in months because i don't tend to drink much, but plan to make the most of the next few weeks/months!!

festiemum · 28/08/2011 16:03

Yeah, me too Kveta, enjoying a drink again while I can!

Enjoy the baking! x

notnowImreading · 28/08/2011 18:29

Well, maybe this might cheer you up with schadenfreude at my Blush...
My order of pregnancy tests and pre-seed arrived in an amazon pack while we were away at my parents-in-law's. When we got back this afternoon we were having quite a nice chat with my (usually) horrid 17yr old stepdaughter and my DH asked what was in the box. I immediately floundered and blushed, at which point DH started pressing the point. All I could think of on the spot was 'a book', which of course led to 'what book?' etc on and on and on until in the end I came up with a story to cover my obvious embarrassment and squirming. My SD now thinks I am into vampire- and cowboy-themed Mills and Boon novels and has something new to despise me for. Grin

festiemum · 28/08/2011 18:45

Ah no Notnow - you poor thing! Trust your DH to not cover your blushes.

You should have said, "You know darling; the preseed we ordered for quickies"

But that would take some front, and I don't think I have it!

:o at your cover story though - Vampire and Cowboy M&B - Brilliant!!!!

notnowImreading · 28/08/2011 18:54

I was so red in the face it had to be something bad!

TartyMcFarty · 28/08/2011 22:52

Love that, notnow.

I'm out Sad but thinking positive.

mskatemc · 29/08/2011 00:35

Sorry to read some of the sad news on here, hope things turn round for you in coming months.

I've failed to keep up my temp charts & ovpks this month as tending to sick dog (slowly on mend but taking a lot of emotional and physical energy). Dh and I have done some diligent swi even though neither of us have really felt like it, it's about the right time for ov but haven't noticed any ewcm (which I always think of as "ew! cm").

Wedding ann on Weds so would be a nice time to conceive. Then a couple of weeks of going crazy waiting... & definitely not poas early this month... definitely...

puzzletree · 29/08/2011 09:49

:) notnow
sorry to all those who are leaving the bus :(. AF due for me any day now, really want to get it over with at the beginning of the week as we're going to a festival at the weekend. It'll be our second weekend ever without the kids (first time was the same festival last year, it was bliss!), don't want to be faffing about in portaloos all weekend, and was hoping for some quality one on one time with DP (not that a tent is the best venue mind you).
I guess the alternative is to be pregnant, but am really not optimistic, no symptoms whatsoever, and had a BFN the other day. Still it ain't over til the fat lady witch sings eh?!
hope all the SWI-ers are enjoying yourselves? not too exhausted?

notnowImreading · 29/08/2011 10:34

You know how it says on the pg test not to read it after 10 mins? Does anyone know why?

puzzletree · 29/08/2011 11:47

I think you can get evaporation lines which could look like a faint positive ie a false positive

notnowImreading · 29/08/2011 11:52

Oh bugger. That's what I thought. AF is due on Thursday and I've got amazon cheapo tests and superdrug early tests - did FMU this morning with both and nada at first, then faintest of all faint lines on the superdrug test came through. Don't know whether to hope or not. Still, I have 13 amazon tests, 3 superdrug tests and a sainsburys digital in my little drawer so can feed the obsession for a few more days at least.

GTR2882 · 29/08/2011 11:57

Wow - you leave this place for a couple of days and a whole new chapter emerges! Better than tele this :)

Sorry to all of those with BFNs, have still got everything crossed that we see some more good news on this board! notnow your M&B story did tickle me!!! And to answer your question, I think it should be read within the 10 mins to avoid any evap lines appearing as it dries out; my understanding is that a positive line should appear within these 10 mins if the hcg is present!

I am currently sitting here on 5dpo - am driving myself insane with SSing but for the first time ever, I have (TMI WARNING) copious amounts of creamy CM!! I hardly get any! And my cervix has moved into a medium and firm position and i am sure that it is now closed! Am trying not to read too much into this as it is still way to early to have pg symptoms, but i have been reading that creamy CM is a good sign; surely after ov i should start to become more dry, yes?? I still feel really wet down there!

Has anyone had a similar experience and turned out to be pg??

notnowImreading · 29/08/2011 11:59

Right, fuck it, I've got another stick and I'm going to use it. Back within 10 mins!

GTR2882 · 29/08/2011 12:06

WOOHOO!! You go notnow fingers crossed :)

notnowImreading · 29/08/2011 12:11

Aaarrrggh! I still don't know! I can see a line if I squint but it's so faint as to be practically invisible and too ages to appear (8mins on a 3 min test). Wishful thinking, probably. GrinSadAngryBlushSmile
Don't know don't know don't know don't know... Going mad I tell you!

GTR2882 · 29/08/2011 12:15

notnow how many DPO are you?? It could just be that there is not enough hcg in your urine for the test to detect!!

notnowImreading · 29/08/2011 12:48

11, I think. Oh fingers crossed! I has been 15 months including a miscarriage and I so much want it to be true. I am not going to pretend to myself that I'm not crazy excited because I am. I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment but I know from last time that pretending I'm cool about it doesn't make disappointment any easier. I'm not telling my DH though as he already thinks I'm mental after weeping for - I kid you not- an hour at 1am last night over a sad book. I hope I am pg just so I can write that sorry little episode off to hormones!

GTR2882 · 29/08/2011 13:03

Wow i really really hope that this is your month!! I know some people who have tested at 10, 11 and 12 and have BFNs but at 14 or 15 they have had their BFPs - sometimes the hcg is just taking its sweet ass time to build up, you could have implanted later - say at 10dpo then the hcg needs a few days to build! If it was me, I would wait for another couple of days and then test again - if it was me, considering i am at 5 and i have just tested, maybe listening to my words of wisdom is not advisable Grin.

Some women never produce enough hcg for a test to detect and have to have the pg confirmed with bloods!! If still bfns a week after af is due and no sign of the bitch witch then i would make an appointment!!!
