Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

desperateoldie67 · 23/08/2011 22:53

Hahahaha...AF may have battered me over the head with her cramps and general pain in the arse-ness, but you ladies have made me laugh myself silly today. Thanks for all being amazing.

Some of you are clearly frustrated comedians, and anyone that funny surely deserves to be upduffed just for the extra comedy value for the rest of us struggling souls! :o

The only way to cope with all this insanity is to retain our sense of humour, and I think we do it rather well.

Night all, I'm off to bed - I'll just snaffle some of that choccie off the table on my way out :)

GTR2882 · 24/08/2011 06:15

Morning ladies! I just have a quick question to all you knowledgeable lovelies out there and an early TMI warning! I am having trouble charting my cervical position! Should I be checking it in the morning or afternoon (I tend to check it first thing after my shower)? Yesterday morning it was medium and kind of softish with what I thought was watery CM. when I got in from work I thought I'd check again to male sure all was ok and it had moved into a low position with a firm feeling bit appeared open!! This morning it is once again high but medium (can't tell if open or closed as too high) but my CM is back to a lotiony/creamy texture! Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on? I am currently CD12 and going insane together with worrying I al not going to ov at all this month!!!

Is it too early for a drink Wink?!?

musicalmrs · 24/08/2011 08:04

GTR2882 - I can't answer your question I'm afraid, but I also have an indecisive dancing cervix - wish it (and its CM) could make its mind up so I had a slightly better idea of what's going on!

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 08:15

I've got no answers for you either GTR cos I'm a bit lax at checking to be honest! Hmm

GTR2882 · 24/08/2011 08:55

Thanks musical and desperate - think I will just plod on with the old SWI until I either get royally upduffed or the witch gets me!! I think I am due to ov any time from today until Sunday so there will be a lot of BDing from now until then!!

I don't think I have copious amounts of CM so I am just going to use Pre-Seed to help the little fellas along :)

YeahThatsTheBadger · 24/08/2011 09:21

GTR I had never heard of this cervix positiony stuff. It was mentioned upthread but I had no idea what it was all about! You lot are very aware of, and in tune with your bodies. I don't even really have any idea when I ovulate, if I have any pains when I do... Confused

And so I woke this morning, went for a wee and AF has finally got me. :(
And now I have a dilemma. My brother gets married go August next year. I am one of the bridesmaids. So do I wait for a few months so that I won't have a newborn baby or be heavily pregnant. The wedding is in Ireland so I need to be able to travel. Although I was a bridesmaid when 8.5 months pregnant with DD. In Ireland. That worked out ok though. It was quite a sight though. I'm only 4ft 11in and had such a huge bump. It didn't help that the other bridesmaid was 6.5 months pregnant. Grin

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 09:32

Sorry to hear that AF got you Badger. I wouldn't wait to be honest, but then I'm 43 and rapidly running out of time (if I actually have any at all...). :)

Rusulka · 24/08/2011 09:35

Badger I think you should just trust that all will turn out for the best and leave it to fate.

If nothing else, you'll have a brilliant running gag. :)

I've often found myself pissing against the wind, (not literally, my genitalia don't work like that) and then later found that something else happened for the better. Go with the flow. Everything will be fine.

I used pre-seed for the first time last night- I do think 4ml is too much, especially when they tell you to bear down after to get rid of any excess- I only used 2ml and it still squirted everywhere- do they think we have wizard's sleeves or what?

Also DH said it was a bit sloppy down there (up there?) so less friction, which isn't usually good for him. D'oh.

As for cervix position- WTF? I've been checking my mucus by generally waving my hands around the area, is that not how it's done? (Have nails, am squeamish about accidentally taking skin samples) I had to go for a colposcopy a few years ago and the doctor there said I had a high up cervix- although to be honest, if you were having what looks like a laser gun apparatus shoved up your hoo-ha, you'd try and hide it too, right?

DO67 sorry you're feeling crappy.

GTR2882 · 24/08/2011 09:36

Oh no badger, so sorry that the bitch witch got you!!! I say get on with SWI, i know I would - at my wedding some relatives had very young babies and they slept through most of the day, so was ok :)

Desperate - while you are still "up for it" there is always hope! I am crossing everything for you for next month; i know you will get that sticky bean Grin

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 09:40

Oh I'm definitely still up for it...I just hope I still have some viable eggs Confused

puzzletree · 24/08/2011 09:42

Morning all.
Sorry Badger :(, I'd say just carry on TTC!
I did a test this morning just to check and of course it's BFN, so I'm going to have a guilt-free drink tonight. Hoping to hold out testing again until AF is actually absent/or I have obvious symptoms. Have a pessimistic feeling I'm going to need the rest of the preg test stash for another month.
Come on we need another BFP to cheer us all up!

GTR2882 · 24/08/2011 09:45

Rusulka i too had a colposcopy a few years ago, scary stuff - i think my cervix tried to hide from the biggest needle i had ever seen! i tried to hide but the nurses found me :(

As for the whole cervix, cm thingy - if you have nails i would defintely not recommend going for a rummage, just in case and it really is not worth cutting them or getting rid of them for something that might not actually give an insight into what is happening - that's how i feel at the moment. I usually try to gauge my cm on tissue paper - sometimes works, sometimes is a big waste of time!!

As for preseed - i use that, think it's great, only use about 1g, maybe less that way there's just enough - DH has found it fantastic :)

MrsGrumpWantsABump · 24/08/2011 09:50

Hello lovelies, I've added myself to the list. I have been POAS for a couple of days now and think I could see a very faint line on the last one, I hope that's a sign that I'm going to OV soon. It's either that or I will need to get my eyes and/or head checked. Confused

A question for all those charting BTs, is there a huge difference between a BT thermometer and a normal digital thermometer? I've had a look online and I'm very confused what to buy, the price differences are huge!

HeidiHole, I'm trying not to go into too much detail about my cycle with DH, less pressure for him that way. Sneaky does it. Grin

Lots of action going on here TTC-ers!

GTR - sorry haven't a frikkin clue about cervical position?! Do you have to get up there and have a feel?? And what's supposed to be good for baby making? Any info gratefully received Grin

Gosh the more I go on with the TTC lark, the more clueless I feel. Think AF may have arrived but it's just a very light pink and clear at the mo - not normal for me... so I'm hanging on here but also hailing desperate's June bus too. Would actually welcome a period with open arms (for the first time like ever), as then I can start keeping tabs on my cycle etc.

Festie, glad to hear your wedding was a success. An more testing done today?? If you got two faint positives then that sounds promising. Keep us posted!!

Oh yes, and on the preseed front - I used 3ml first use and it was like Niagra Falls down there. Way too much - can't believe they recommend 4ml (actually I can as they obvs want to sell as much as possible). I don't like the feeling of too much lube down there - less is more!

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 10:03

Sorry Rusulka missed your post - thanks for the golden grahams. Tempted to hoik my uterus out with a bloody crochet hook today the way I'm feeling Angry :(

And it's about time you got your own comedy show, you do know that, don't you? The whole thing about the lady shooting ping pong balls from her 'downstairs' really tickled me this morning. No, I've not had a desire to try, although apparently I have good muscles WinkBlush:o

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 10:05

loulou, if you'd welcome a period with open arms, would you like mine? It feels like someone twisting a knife in my guts at the moment. Sometimes being a woman sucks ass!

louloubellamozzarella · 24/08/2011 10:14

Desperate; I never thought I'd say this but yes purlease, hand it over! I'll neck some paracetamol and ride it out, for the knowledge that the mechanics are functioning ok Grin

OP posts:
desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 10:22

If only I could pass it over... :(

In the words of ET...."OUCH"

GTR2882 · 24/08/2011 10:25

loulou yeah you have to basically get your middle finger and have a good old rummage around - i try to do it after a shower because you need to make sure that your hands are clean in order to prevent any infections (and having short nails helps also, don't want to hurt her Wink!!! I usually squat down, insert said finger and try and feel around for my cervix, this is easy to do when it's low but not so easy to find when it's high (obviously). The upshot is that after AF the cervix should be in the low position and will feel firm (like the end of your nose) and should be closed. As you approach ov, it should start to rise and become soft (like your bottom lip) and open - when you are almost ready to ov it will be soft, high, open and wet (SHOW). When it starts to get high i think that this is best for baby making because the entrance to the cervix will start to open and fertile conditions will be created allowing the little fellas to swim into the cervix, have a beer or two and wait for our egg to be released Grin

I am not sure what open/closed feels like because it always feels the same, but it does move about hence the confusion! Argh, why are we so complicated Angry; why can't we just be fertile all the time like the men :)

Rusulka · 24/08/2011 11:08

Ladies and Gentlemen! The TTC-ers from the May Yacht and their amazing dancing cervixes!

Mine feels like my bottom lip!
I could also feel an ahem, entrance, but don't know realistically how big that is supposed to be, so let's not go there.
Looking forward to POAOS later.

I should just get DH to tell me what it feels like up there. After all, their manhood is so sensitive and brilliant, right?

I wish B&Q wouldn't finish their 3 for 2 offer on paint while I'm away this weekend, thereby forcing me to choose between 2 almost identical shades of purple in the next few days. Argh!
Plants are on 3 for 2 as well... but I haven't got any borders yet as I haven't dug them in! Wah! I want to buy plants! While they're on offer!

I need to get out more...

Quenelle · 24/08/2011 11:36

Ok own up, who's massaging their bottom lip right about now? Wink

Morning all. Festie! How's married life treating you so far? How annoying that you didn?t get a conclusive BFP for a wedding present. Sounds like you're going to get one though. FX for you.

Regarding cervixes, I have never rummaged for mine but I'm aware that many women do. When I was pg with DS I had a bleed at 6 weeks and spent a worrying morning at the local gynae ward while they tried to find out if my cervix had opened. The doctor said there was too much blood to see so they were trying to feel for a hole, had I had any trouble with finding it before? I replied that I had never tried to find it and saw the doctor and nurse exchange smirks. She obviously meant had anyone trying to do a smear or anything commented that it was difficult to find. I was exceedingly embarrassed.

I once read a thread on babyandbump with these pregnant woman at full term trying to poke their fingers through their cervixes to touch their babies' heads Shock

In other news, I?ve just found my first period spot Sad I fear AF is inevitable now.

Sorry AF got you DO67 hold a seat on that June bus for me.

desperateoldie67 · 24/08/2011 11:41

Seat held Quenelle...AF may decide to change her mind...it may be the fabled "implantation bleeding"...or I could just be trying to cheer you up.

How did I miss Festie's wedding??? Gosh I'm useless! Sorry festie hope all went well - sounds like you could be having a BFP along any moment though :)

I'd never rummaged for mine either until recently. Half the time it runs away from my finger (but then I can't exactly blame it for that!). I can't imagine prodding around when at full term to touch the baby's head - imagine how weird that would feel for the baby!!! Shock

TartyMcFarty · 24/08/2011 14:41

I need to know about bbt thermometers too please. And what's this pre-seed? I'm waiting until 29th to test as I'm away from DH this weekend. No signs of anything, AF included, so no clue here.

louloubellamozzarella · 24/08/2011 14:51

Pre-seed's a fertility friendly lube - ie it doesn't stop sperm in their tracks as apparently some lubes can. Also as you kinda inject it in, it goes up nicely into the cervix to aid the passage of swimmers, to where fingers cannot reach Grin Also as other have said, it's good for a quickie (medically speaking..)

I think Quenelle linked to it way back on the first page of this thread if you want to see the goods.

OP posts:
Quenelle · 24/08/2011 14:53

I'm always there with my trusty preseed link Smile
