she had been TTC for a 3rd baby and had the signs of feeling pg weeks ago but had 2 negative pg tests. she went to docs yesterday to see whats the pains and they booked her in for next week for a swab. She got taken in to hospital last nite and they told her that she IS pg and is having the scan today.... possibly be a etopic pg

could that be true?

Symptoms could well be those of an ectopic - terrible stomach pains and no positive on a DIY test but positive on hospital test is exactly what I had.

superblastofflips · 20/11/2005 13:06

well now she is back home as she had a blood test which it was low and docs said it was too early in pg to tell the hormone level. so is having scan on monday and also another blood test to see if hormone level rises, if it does then thats means baba is ok.

i got a text from her this morning and now she is in so much pain and in bed and is scared, her DH had taken their 2 kids out for the day so my friend can rest. she asked me to ask any of yous for advice....

she got a terrible back pain and wanted to know if any women had experienced light bleeding (blood) pains in a normal pg..?

agree with Willow. Symptoms are consistent with an ectopic PG. If your friend is still in terrible pain, I think she should call the hospital (or just turn up to the gynae A & E at the Women's Hospital) to get checked out in case it is an ectopic pg, since if it is an ectopic pg, the sooner your friend is treated for it, the better.

I had light bleeding and cramps at about 5 weeks PG and everything was OK, but they were initially concerned it was an ectopic PG (had blood tests and scans).

JAG123 · 20/11/2005 15:22

Hi sorry have no experience in this but if she is in that much pain perhaps she should go back to the Hospitals A&E dept. If it is an eptopic pg i have read that the earlier that it is caught the less damage is done to tubes.
Sorry i can't be of more help bound to be someone on here with more experience.
I hope your friend is ok
J

well she seems to be ok now to hang on till tmrw as she is taking tabs - co- coamol.

MTS - did you find out why you had them pains and light bleeding?

OP posts:
mummytosteven · 20/11/2005 15:29

Not really - it was suggested it was either implantation bleeding or a threatened miscarriage.

superblastofflips · 20/11/2005 15:36

the tabs that she is on is making her sleepy so she cant come on the mumset as shes in bed atm

OP posts:
superblastofflips · 20/11/2005 15:47

mts - friend said that the nurse suggested the implantation bleeding and is about 5 weeks too. can you remember when you had the pains first time, did you had the pains when your period was due?

I would think ectopic as well - and go to A&E - I would want a scan asap to make sure it wasn't an ectopic as they can be very dangerous.

superblastofflips · 20/11/2005 18:29

well she got it booked tmrw at the hossy for the scan and blood tests or should she take herself off to the hossy 2nite with her H?

OP posts:
superblastofflips · 20/11/2005 18:36

what is "implantation bleeding" means anyone? as my friend is not sure what it is??

OP posts:
throckenholt · 20/11/2005 18:42

implantation bleeding is light bleeding that sometimes occurs when the feotus attaches to the womb in the first week or two.

If I was in bad pain I would go to A&E - but if she wants to check if iti s safe to wait til tomorrow ring NHS Direct, explain the symptoms and question of ectopic and ask if it is safe to wait until tomorrow for the scheduled scan.

I think the danger is the tube can rupture.

superblastofflips · 20/11/2005 18:49

well ive told her to call nhs direct and see what happens from there

She wants POSITIVE vibes about this... (??)

hope she finds the stregth she needs to help her through this. what a shame, so sad for her.

mummytosteven · 21/11/2005 19:36

sorry to hear about your friend superblastofflips. I didn't answer your second question as I didn't see it, sorry!

superblastofflips · 21/11/2005 19:39

oh its okay as my friend is ok with it as she didnt know she was pg in teh first place. As it was lucky that she got pg naurally in the first place as she was waiting for her periods to come on before she start taking her fertility tabs (as her periods arent monthly so the tabs halped her to have her periods monthly) so she should be on her periods on 6th dec - i think! - and start taking the tabs

she gotta go back the end of this week to make sure her womb is all clear

thanks everyone and the same from my friend too

OP posts:
throckenholt · 21/11/2005 21:00

glad it wasn't an ectopic. And as you say good that she can look at it as positive - proof that she can get pregnant without intervention.

superblastofflips · 21/11/2005 22:09

well thats what i said that at least it wasnt an ectopic pg or it wouldve of ruined her chances of getting pg, so she had a gud cry tonite and will have a gud nite sleep!

my poor friend just rang me to say that she went back to hossy to check hormone levels had dropped as she miscarried on monday... but the h. level had actually rised!!!!!, the hossy hadn t got a clue whats going on??? its not meant to rise!! cos that mean baby is actually still inside growing. so she gotta have another blood test on friday if it rises again, they wil scan to find the baby. pains and bleeding has stopped so baba is fighting for its life!!!!

poor friend said that she cant cope with this!!

hormone level guide - if it rises its a normal pg, if its not rises it ectopic, if it dropped its a miscarriage...
