Hiya,

I put August as its a little late for July!

I'm TTC number 4(!)

Due to test on the 15th August but don't think we have much chance this month as its only our first and DH has been ill for a few days and now I've got the bug, so not much romance happening!

So just wonderded if anyone is just starting TTC and wanted to join me?

ohh ment to say i got a taking charge of your fertility book off ebay for £3.99! cause it is an old cover picture but from what i can gather, still the same book inside. hopefully i will understand more after reading it.

to do the tempurature thing, do you just take your temperature every morning and make a note of it, then if it lowers slightly, you are about to ovulate? can you use an in the ear thingy, or does it have to be under the tongue? i think i might do that if it is that simple, sounds far better than the saliva thingGrin

Deysee · 20/09/2010 18:42

question, I drink a lot of water during the day so my wee is quite weak. just done HPT as 2 days late (never happened before, regular as clockwork normally). Test was negative. do I wait a few days and test again first thing in the morning? TTC#1 so its all very new and confusing!

MummyAbroad · 20/09/2010 19:34

Hi LizandLulu,

I have just finished reading TCOYF its great you wont regret it. You need to buy a special thermometer to temp. Its called a basal body temperature themometer (BBT) Its worth it because you will use it everyday and in a sleepy state, it works faster than a normal one and measures in a smaller temp range. You can take your temp orally or vaginally.

You must take your temperature as soon as your eyes open and before you get up or move around. Then record the temps, you are looking for a HIGH not a LOW. In fact three high temps in a row means you have ovulated (18 means preggas Grin) You CANNOT use temps to predict ovulation only to know it has happened. This is much more useful than you might think as TCOYF explains.

I would also really recommend going on www.fertilityfriend.com you can input in all your temps, OPK's HPY's, dates you have sex etc and it works everything out for you so you dont have to actually puzzle over your chart. (its free) There is also a tutorial section where you can learn all about temping.

Right better stop now as I sound like one big advert Grin

good luck everyone!

MummyAbroad · 20/09/2010 19:38

Deysee Yes, first thing in the morning is best, (especially if you are testing early) or if you cant do that then "save up" your wee for 4 hours before doing the test.

lizandlulu · 20/09/2010 21:27

mummyabroad, it just gets better, weeing in pots/onsticks/licking microscope thingies/mucus gathering.....now vaginally testing temperatureGrin

i just better get bloody pregnant soon, all this inspection is doing my head in!

yes deysee first thing in the morning is best. if i was you i would be tempted to do it first thing in the morning, but i am VERY impatientSmile

goldmaple · 20/09/2010 21:33

wobblewatcher very sorry to hear about AF, but you have a great attitude and I am betting that the 2nd month TTC is going to be lucky for a lot of us!!

deysee I would test first thing in the morning, then everyday every two or three days after. But get cheapies.

mummyabroad i lurv TCOYF too! and lizandlulu I second what mummyabroad wrote. You can only tell after ovulation happened with temps... but CM lets you know when your fertile (yay! Wink)

petitech have fun in spain! Holidays are supposed to be lucky!!

lizandlulu · 20/09/2010 21:42

well i am planning on having sex every other day from now on, so i cant miss it, dh will be pleasedGrin

MummyAbroad · 20/09/2010 22:11

Hi goldmaple

Did you buy the TCOYF software? My book came with a CD and I got all exited until it said "Trial Version" so I didnt bother installing it. Is it as good as/better than www.fertilityfriend.com do you know??

Lizandlulu I draw the line at saliva thingy. Girls gotta have some boundaries Grin Grin

MadKatz · 21/09/2010 10:06

Just waiting for my saliva microscope to arrive now. Has anyone used one? How did you get on?

KLou111 · 21/09/2010 20:36

Well, am feeling like absolute crap, and have been all day. Been suffering from dizziness for the last 2 weeks (but prob just getting up too quick), and now this!!!
My stomach feels like it is in a mass of knots, cramping like hell!!
Came off pill 27th Aug, had withdrawel, but too soon for 1st AF.

Me and DH have been at it like rabbits for the last few weeks trying to get preggars with #1 (sorry if TMI!)
Been on pill for 13 years so got a feeling my body is just adjusting, but it is awful!!
Why is it all I notice now is everyone being pregnant? No fair.
Going on holiday Saturday for 17 days, so hoping we'll be all relaxed and nature will take the correct course!!
How's everyone getting on with the saliva thingy?? Not even thought about doing the temperature or anything like that yet. x

goldmaple · 22/09/2010 05:15

klou111 I hope feeling like crap means that you are pregnant. The chances of getting pregnant are high in the first month off the pill (read that somewhere). In any case I hope you enjoy your holiday... 17 days very Envy

mummyabroad I also didn't install the TCOYF software when I saw you had to pay. But I use 'iperiod' on my iphone to record everything. It graphs everything for you so its pretty nice. I don't know about fertility friend.

Does anyone else ever get nervous at the thought of success?? I usually don't but I had such a crap day at work that I feel like I don't even have that part of my life in order...:(

Ok, I'll stop being a downer. Good luck to everyone testing.

MadKatz · 22/09/2010 09:01

mummyabroad I know what you mean about getting nervous at the thought of success. Have spent so many years trying not to get pregnant, worrying that I have been, taking the morning after pill occasionally just to make sure I'm not, etc and now we're trying I am nervous. I suppose its the unkown for me (#1) and also that I really want be a mum and I really want to be a good mum

goldmaple · 22/09/2010 15:16

madkatz I think your message was for me :) But in case it wasn't then thats how I feel too. I am also trying for #1, but I suppose no one ever feels 100% ready. Work went better today anyways so I'm feeling good.

lizandlulu · 22/09/2010 18:36

madkatz and goldmaple i dont think no one ever feels ready enough to be 100% confident they will be ready for a baby ifswim? i know people whoare waiting till they have enough money, waiting to lose wieght etc etc before they have kids. i kept finding excuses to wait before my dd. but in the end if you have decided to go for it, then the time is nowGrin

actually just read that back and it sounded crap!

i am so determined this this month is going to be it. i stood in boots todat looking at the temperature thingy kits and very nearly bought one. but read the box and it said it was helpful to tell then ovulation occured so only tells you after the event. so have decided to wait till my book comes and read that through, see if it sheds any more light on to my cycle.

what i want is for someone to say 'yes today you are going to ovulate, go and have sex'

not much to ask is it?

eaglewings · 22/09/2010 19:10

The only time i feel anywhere near 100% positive I'm ready to have a baby (for the next in my case) is when I know I'm not pregnant each month that I ttc! Confused

Discovered today that I'm not, and have dug out my old Persona machine that I used to ttc # 2 & 3. Worked well then but that was 9 years ago.

Shocked that it costs over £12 a month for the test sticks. How does that compare with out 'sticks'?

MummyAbroad · 22/09/2010 20:42

Hi everyone,

I am not nervous at the thought of success, I am DESPERATE for it!!!! (I think that has a lot to do with being post mc though)

anyway, its not happening today (BFN stillSad) but bring it on, I'm ready!!!!!!

lizandlulu · 22/09/2010 21:57

eaglewings i know what you mean. i keep doubting myself about how i will cope with 2 and start to think shall i put it off till l feel more ready, then as soon as my period comes i am really disappointed and upset.

goldmaple · 23/09/2010 14:38

Finger crossed that you get a bfp soon mummyabroad How many DPO are you?

Almost time to SWI... finally:)

MummyAbroad · 23/09/2010 15:00

I am 14 or 16 DPO according to fertilityfriend.com and my themometer. Still BFN so I am off to do a blood test today, cant stand it any longer!!!!!

KLou111 · 23/09/2010 19:20

God this waiting is doing my head in!! Feeling good now so hopefully goldmaple I am preggars, but knowing my luck......

I am totally nervous at the thought of success, it will be a humungus step I reckon! But it will be a whole new fun chapter that I and hubby are so looking forward to.

Got a friend coming off the pill Friday so we'll be going through this together. We are the only ones that know about each other coming off, didn't want the 'are you pregnant' yet scenario.

Going to do a test next week while on hols. Have packed 3 cheapy ones, so we'll see!

Let's hope that sickness is due to being pregnant, not due to sea sickness (going on a cruise with some friends).

Hope everyone is enjoying the BD-ing though besides!!! Grin

GruffaloMama · 24/09/2010 06:09

Hi all. Have been in hiding as BT have been messing about with the broadband. The waiting (to test/ovulate - not for BT!) is rubbish, isn't it? Hope you have a lovely holiday KLou and no sea-sickness! good luck MummyAbroad - any news? Madkatz I agree with that I don't think anyone is ever really ready - I'm ttc#2 and I'm worrying thinking about how we'll manage, impact on DS etc etc. But have decided to just go for it and hope for the best!

I've been loving my TCOYF book. I've just been doing the oral temperature thing. Have used my DS's thermometer as the one I bought specially didn't work [irritated]. I've been using the TCOYF tracking site - here. You need to go to the charting tab - you can do the online one for free or download the charts to do it on paper.

I tried the saliva thing. Actually less gross than I thought! But then I do spend a ludicrous amount of time pondering the difference in types of pant snot cervical fluid. So maybe I'm not the best judge of what's gross?

Well it's about a week before when I think I should be ovulating so I guess I should start spending less time arguing with BT and more time getting jiggy. Bye for now - good luck for all those testing and baby dust for all those about to join me on the two week wait.

KLou111 · 24/09/2010 09:53

Signing off for a couple of weeks all.

Hope a couple of you have some great news by the time I'm back.

BABY DUST EVERYWHERE!!! xxxxx

goldmaple · 24/09/2010 16:10

mummyabroad what did your blood test say? Fingers crossed for you!!!

klou have a great trip!!

Does anyone here use a clearblue monitor? They are super expensive but since OPK don't work for me I was thinking about it. will try to give it a few more months though... or at least 1 more

MummyAbroad · 24/09/2010 16:35

Blood test was negative but at least it means I am out of that horrid wondering and waiting and testing bit. I hate the 2WW!

I am going to let the rest of my life take centre stage for a bit, will be back next month when its time to start it all again though!!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

BabsH · 25/09/2010 09:31

Morning all,

MummyAbroad Sorry to hear that the blood test was negative, thats pants, but hope you have a grand month trying not to think about the whole baby thing!

Wish me luck guys, have made an appointment to see the doctor on monday about the non-appearance of AF after much worrying and nagging from my DH. Doubt she'll be able to help much but at least I'm doing something about it all! Now, just need to get Tesco's to stop doing promotions on baby stuff in my local store, which just is'nt helping!

Whats everyone up to this weekend? I'm going to see Tamara Drew tonight, yay!!
