I am a Playmobil virgin

But am considering getting some for the children for Christmas.

dd the carry along house (The bigger houses are lovely but waay expensive)

ds has asked for the pyramid but as we have got him a wii I think that would be excessive given cost.Am looking at some less costly dinosaur stuff.

Can anyone reccomend what Playmobil their children have enjoyed the most?TIA.

Moodlum I won't tell you what else gets mixed with the Playmobil then. Luckily although DCs don't play with it properly (and mix medieval knights with Romans ) DH will spend hours lining up Romans, Gladiators, Gauls etc and making sure they all have the correct sandals and weapons.

DS2 has discovered the pirate crowns make nice rings. So now I have a 5 year old boy walking round with rings on 3 fingers.

MintyCane · 05/11/2009 16:57

MadHairDay - The circus is nice they had it in TK Max half price last year. Maybe worth looking there if you have one.

mazzystartled · 05/11/2009 17:08

I actually don't rate the carry along house particularly. The furniture is great, but the house itself is a bit ugly and more fragile than playmobil usually is.

WE have family stuff, a ginormous crane, (two actually one a 80s wheeled one), a refuse truck some pirates, some knights, some romans, and a few circus bits (which are supercute - ELEPHANTS!)

Most loved are the bin truck, and the castle "superset" which gives you a workable bit of castle for only £12.

MadHairDay · 05/11/2009 17:10

Thanks Minty, will have a look in TK Max.

Marne · 05/11/2009 17:17

Dd1 is getting the farm for x-mas.

She loves the Circus (she got this last year and plays with it a lot) also the rubbish truck (which dd2 has broken) she's also been asking for the dinosaurs but she will have to wait until her birthday.

Toys r us had the Arc on offer and one of the dinosaur sets (not sure if they still have the offer).

We love playmobil in this house but we have to keep it away from dd2 (3.4) as she's a bit rough with it, we let her play with the play park as the bits seem less breakable.

I love tidying dd's room when she's at school so i can arrange all the little people in the circus .

MmeGuisingt · 05/11/2009 17:18

Waah. I knew I should have put the sorted out PM stuff away. The DC have just come in and say that they still play with it all the time and I am not allowed to sell/give it away.

Oh, well. I could not sell it on here anyway. Just checked the postage prices to UK from Switzerland and they are more than the stuff is worth.

ginnny · 05/11/2009 19:22

The lego ones are crap.
We had clone wars lego advent calendars last year and half the bits were missing.
I loved the little victorian cottage PM calendar a few years ago, with fireplace, rocking chair and cute little animals and children.
I might get one all for myself this year now dc are too old!

Horton · 05/11/2009 20:11

I really really want the safe-crackers, complete with oxyacetylene torches.

Ahem, I mean DD would love them. If she knew what a safe-cracker was.

Clary · 05/11/2009 22:17

loving this thread.

I love to sort out the playmobil. I adore it when I find all the bits for the silver knight (for example) who has shiny armour and weapons and thus is easily distinguished from his comrades in arsm (oh dear).

I am not as bad obsessed concerned about it as slubber tho

frazzled74 · 05/11/2009 23:28

dd didnt really take to the takealong house but plays with icecream parlour and the fairy garden. ds loves his pirate ship, family cruiser and dustbin lorry, he is getting the aeroplane for christmas

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 06/11/2009 10:58

The Playmobil farm is 1/2 price in Tesco

direct.tesco.com/q/buylist/id.6736.aspx

frazzled74 · 06/11/2009 11:22

just a thought, will takealong house furniture fit in the other playmobil houses?

moodlum · 06/11/2009 12:02

That Tesco direct site has some good deals on it. DH would go mad if I bought the DC's anything more, let alone playmobile, but I just don't think I can turn £10 off the pirate ship "red corsair" down. Its a fecking addiction. I wish I'd never taken my first step.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 06/11/2009 12:41

Moodlum, I'm like that with lego. I thought I'd done all of DD's Xmas shopping and then got carried away and spent £100 on lego yesterday!

Marne · 06/11/2009 12:45

I have already spent 100.00 on playmobil for x-mas (farm set) but i am still tempted to buy more, its hard not to buy it if its on offer , we already have the pirate ship and it has been played with a lot (looks more like a ship wreck now), i like the look of the pony ranch (it would go well with the farm).

moodlum · 06/11/2009 12:48

Marne - please don't tell me that the Pirate Ship has been really played with, it only fuels my addiction..

Ixia · 06/11/2009 13:05

DD got the vet's operating theatre for her birthday and my mum has bought her the animal clinic for xmas.

I don't think any of you can match my mil's OCDishness. She still has DH's 30yr old pirate ship, complete with minute cannonballs and the teeniest gold coin treasure you can imagine. She also has cowboys and Indians (not pc, I guess) and more, DD loves it

I have bought an advent calendar, am I really going to regret it?

teddymummy · 06/11/2009 13:14

we are having a complete playmobil christmas in our house this year. after moving back to the uk from living abroad (in a lego and playmobil free country!!!)I have gone a tad mad in the playmobil.com shop. We have 3 DCs and they all have a biggish set from us and smaller one from grandparents.I remember having the hospital when I was a child and loving it- really wish my mum had kept it and now am determined to keep our lego and pm for future generations! Just haven't told my DH yet...he hates keeping anything in the loft!

HerbWoman · 06/11/2009 13:15

Moodlum - the only way forward is to buy your DH thick-soled slippers for Christmas. And I hate to say it, but the pirate ship has been played with almost every day since last Christmas here too. Obviously we wouldn't let DS take it camping (but we do usually take a smaller box of knights, small boat etc with us). Obsessed? Us? Nooooooo!

Have succombed today - local toyshop had one castle reduced. Don't know where we're going to put it though. I think it'll spend next year in the middle of the living room floor.

By the way, we are not as obsessed as this person: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQvM6JBGGag&feature=related

Mavis - For us, it is the pirate ship and island (with white, Spanish tower) that have been played with most, by both DS (5) and DD (9). DD has the pony ranch, but mostly the horses from that get ridden by the knights and pirates.

frazzled74 · 06/11/2009 13:24

buy the pirate ship, most played with toy in our house.

Marne · 06/11/2009 13:25

3 for 2 at Tesco's on playmobil including the pirate ship, pony ranch and take along garage, trying to stop myself from buying, i think we might have to get rid of some furniture to make way for more playmobil. Dd1 wants to build a whole city of playmobil before her birthday in feb, she only has a small room and her floor is already covered with the circus, fairy bits, park, pirates etc..

I am tempted to buy the church and wedding sets for x-mas.

LilyLoovesGuyFawkes · 06/11/2009 13:30

Herbwoman daren't even think how much money / time has been spent there!!!

DangerousDorothy · 06/11/2009 13:59

Tried in vain to get my DD2 to like playmobil but she doesn't seem that bothered, although I am gutted cos I love it!
Would love to see her get excited about it so I could indulge myself her with Playmobil.
Has anyone seen the playmobil school that some ebay sellers have got? Seems its new for 2009 but looks v expensive.

Flightattendant · 06/11/2009 14:05

Do playmobil do a virgin now? They do bank robbers, guinea pigs etc I am not surprised.

Marne · 06/11/2009 14:25

I don't think school comes out until 2010 in the uk but you can get it on e-bay from Germany.

I have just ordered dd the vets car for x-mas as she will need a vet to visit her farm .
