The deadlne for donations and nominations is just under a week away.

If you need to know what it is all about then here are some links

where it all started with Soapy in 2006

and lapin took over in 2007

2007 thank you thread

2008 appeal from StGeorge

thank you thread 2008

and this is this years effort

Just to make clear. No names will be given out unless I have permission.

If you would like to donate or nominate please email me at

[email protected]

All nominees must have been registered Mumsnet members BEFORE July 1st 2009.
I would prefer nominators to have been Mumsnet members before September 1st 2009

The deadline for signing up is November 8th to allow plenty of time. I aim to have the matches out by December 1st to give plenty of time for the trip to queue at the post office.

Now tell me those thank you threads don't make you a little bit teary

Ooh, have just thoought of something I could donate! I have emailed you, so let me know what you think. I'm afraid toys don't last long here, and I am rather cash-poor just now, but I have a couple of items that would make a nice gift for a mum or older daughter.

Heated · 02/11/2009 23:07

Brain is overloaded, and am new to the MN Xmas appeal - so v e r y s l o w l y just for me please:

Have a couple of tagged/boxed new things that would make a small but useful gift for toddler dd. Do I just email you with what they are? Do I have to nominate someone? Or do you send me an address and I post them anonymously?

Saltire · 02/11/2009 23:15

Heated - just email Norma nad tell what you can donate and she will match you up with someone

sparklycherrybomb · 03/11/2009 00:25

i was a receiver in 2006, and also a giver and receiver in 2008, can i just say, this appeal, for the last 3 years has been the pinnacle of my mn year each time. i was not involved in 2007, as i had very limited internet access, but am a giver and receiver again this year, and am already shopping for presents for the appeal, as well as giving some stuff i have here. this appeal warms my heart every year, long may it continue, and hopefully one year, i will be trusted enough to help run it maybe. lists are my speciality dontcha know

KimiTheThreadSlayingRocket · 03/11/2009 07:25

How sad am I, I just looked through the old threads, have a lot of people name changed over the years or are they AWOL?

I don't see a lot of them here now

Phoenix4725firestarter · 03/11/2009 08:01

have emailed you

NormaStanleyFletcher · 03/11/2009 08:06

Heated. You don't have to nominate anyone.

All you have to do is email with what you want to give. I have a spreadsheet database secret santa machine which will match the donors with nominees, and by Dec 1st you will get an email saying "please send your gift marked 'Parcel 9012' to The Mumsnetter of the House, 1 Any Street, Sometown"

Then you just wait for the Thank you thread, and when someone namechanges to "thankyou9012" and says thank you then you know it has arrived.

Divatheshopaholic · 03/11/2009 09:16

sent you email. i would like donate to someone.

Disenchanted3 · 03/11/2009 09:27

Norma- have emailed you again with a suggestion.

SoloSparklyCatherineWheel · 03/11/2009 11:15

Thanks BOF

MadreInglese · 03/11/2009 12:52

Norma I've emailed you

Rhubarb · 03/11/2009 13:09

Emailed you with why I can't take part this year. Noted the comment you made about if it benefits 80 then it's worth the odd one that may go wrong and you are quite right. But I'm afraid I can't personally, be a part of it this year. As a giver or receiver.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 03/11/2009 13:19

Rhubes, have just replied to you.

And don't worry, I understand

BitOfFun · 03/11/2009 13:42

Did you see the OTBOAL pics I sent you Fletch? Whaddya reckon? Suitable or nay?

NormaStanleyFletcher · 03/11/2009 13:56

Oh I am sure they will be of use (I am clueless about that part of S&B but have a consultant I will talk too )

sunnyshine · 03/11/2009 13:57

do you have to have someone in mind or can you just send gift?

FrumpyPumpy · 03/11/2009 14:09

I've sent you an email.
Thank you for taking on this mammoth task.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 03/11/2009 14:11

You can just offer gifts, that is fine. EIther you can say ie "I have some board games for age 4+ that I am willing to post" or "I would like to buy some gifts, for mum and little boys, as I know little boys, and my budget is £X", or "I have £X in vouchers" or whatever it is you would prefer to do.

Once I have checked all the nominees and am doing the matching, I will pair you up with someone who needs what you are offering. Neither of you will know who the other one is (though you will need their address obv), and the nominee may not even know they are nominated.

Does that make sense?

NormaStanleyFletcher · 03/11/2009 14:13

that should say the nominee may not even know they are nominated until an envelope or parcel arrives for "The mumsneter of the house"

sunnyshine · 03/11/2009 14:37

thank you have e mailed you with my small gifts to donate and match up.
