Hi, i said i wouldn't buy them (to dh last week), i have now bought a few bits online yesterday but most bits (ball, spiral, beds) i can't seem to find in stock anywhere.

Anyone else struggling to get hold of them?

Are they really worth the hastle or are they just a fad?

So (just to be clear) It's okay to just have a hamster - no runs, accessories etc.
I know my DD was thinking of getting her cousin one for xmas - but only a hamster.

MintyCane · 04/11/2009 13:34

The hamsters are fun, but the houses etc are a rip off.

paisleyleaf · 04/11/2009 13:35

Sorry, that was a question, not a statement. The ? is missing

Thanks for info here. I'm struggling to find one too for my daughter. Argos apparently have some according to one of the Go Go Hamster stock check sites but I can never be sure how accurate these sites are. Went onto Argos online but no stock ! Amazon are just well over priced £30+. Anyone have stock ideas they know about..getting desperate now!

drlove8 · 14/11/2009 14:56

arrrrrgggghhh cant find any either , tescos has an email me when theyre back in stock thingy!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 14/11/2009 15:21

I signed up for the Creation toys "Tell me when you've more in stock" weeks ago, they still haven't. I managed to get everything I wanted (via ebay) but had to pay well over the prices play.com were advertising back in September.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 14/11/2009 15:40

And currently the accessories seem rare (and expensive!) even on ebay!

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 14/11/2009 16:26

bought hamste, bag and ball in sept

wed99 · 14/11/2009 16:41

Hi I got a hamster and house in Argos in St Albans last week and then popped into Toys r us Watford looking for a birthday present and the shelves were stacked high with all the hamsters and add ons. They had the beds and carry cases in every colour too. I had been looking on line with no luck and signed up for the let me know when in stock too and heard nothing.
So might be worth ringing your local store and seeing if they have any stock .

5inthebed · 14/11/2009 17:36

TJ Hughes sell them, saw loads yesterday. Not sure what accessories they sell, but saw a car and a house. Was humming and haring whether to get them for ds2.

Are they really that good?

piratecat · 14/11/2009 17:39

I had my hand on one in Tesco the other day, the white one, theone dd wants, but i put it back on the shelf!!!

bollox. I should have bought it, told dd you can't get them, then ebayed it for £30!!

meany me.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 14/11/2009 18:04

There seem to be plenty rodents (and indeed, blankets), it's the rest of the accessories...

Ho hum.

Next year I'll say nowt.

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 20:43

ah shite, I'd placed an order with play.com when they said they were in stock and its now sitting there saying 'awaiting' stock [grrr]

justwanttotalk · 14/11/2009 21:09

Does anyone know if the tubes/wheels are the same as regular hamster ones? May be cheaper to buy them from pet supplies places, just get the car etc that is specifically for gogos?

justwanttotalk · 14/11/2009 21:24

btw hamsters prefer to live alone as solitary pets so if anyone has bought two for their DC CAT me...

Ninks · 14/11/2009 21:31

justwant

I'm going to separate the hamsters I'll buy tomorrow into (i) DD's Christmas present and (ii) On eBay for £££

Hammy won't mind at all will he?

justwanttotalk · 14/11/2009 21:43

sigh... I want one [immature stamping foot emoticon needed here]

disneystar1 · 15/11/2009 08:45

went to toys r us yesterday and the shelves were literaly stacked to the roof with these things....shame i dont want one

what age would you say these are for please, as im needing some inspiration for someones present

sweetkitty · 15/11/2009 10:43

I got them 2 weeks ago from Tesco Direct, did an "e-mail me when back in stock" thing and managed to get 2 hamsters and the house.

Think I may wait until after Christmas to get some more accessories though.

piratecat · 15/11/2009 10:45

toys r us near me on firday had zilch, not one teeny bit of rodent merchandise at all!

Sexonlegs · 15/11/2009 12:09

I bought mine from Tesco Direct, and then saw them in Sainsbury's.

ChickandDuck · 15/11/2009 12:15

I hadn't noticed these till this thread. I've done all my christmas shopping.

But now I want one, I want one!!

Amazon are the only place I can seem to get them online, the playhouse thing is £50, not including a hamster. I now don't want one

BloodRedTulips · 15/11/2009 12:20

Smyths over here still have some, don't know about england but on their site over here they have a stock check option and you can ask them to text you when they come in.

dd hasn't asked but am tempted to get her the hamsters as she's only asked for a small present from santa.
