Christmas Corner

Shocked into this by shiney's terrible confession that she sees no good in Christmas cards, I open my seasonal corner as a haven to all those of us who hold the celebration of Christmas as sacred.

The lights are twinkling around us, the tree is sitting in the corner (not decorated yet, as it is, even for the most keen of us, a little early), and Santa is still compiling his lists. (Because he knows, you know).

As I am in charge of the festive corner, Champagne is in order.

We know, natch, that all is a bit too soon. But, if you're a real Christmas Corner afficionado, you've probably started some of your Christmas shopping.

So here is a place for the like minded amongst us. Share shopping tips, a recipe or two - or just enjoy a virtual glass of bubbly.

aww thanks BIWI.

Hoping it'll be a good one this year, just need to sort a goose and a real tree

Tree was promised to the DS's last year when we "thought" it was our last every Christmas in this house........told them we'd make this year special by having a proper tree.......we're actually back in the house but they still remember my promise of a real tree.

And I've told DH we'll have goose for Christmas.........so I need to source one that's not stupid price.

Just need to decide what to get for the DS's for Christmas, really haven't got a clue. Need one "big" (as in size - not price ) present each and a few small (even cheaper) ones just to make it look good.

DH - god knows, the other day was thinking "keyboard/synthesiser", now I think he'd prefer and Ipod or perhaps an MP3 player (I just wish he'd make up his mind what his next electrical "thing" is going to be).

Sorry chaps, but RL is calling and I have to go to work.

I know, I know, it's ridiculous, but that's how it is in the BIWI house today.

Can I join you?

I have done about half of my Christmas shopping already. Lots of bargains to be had for those of us who are organised!
I went to the garden centre and got my lovely Yankee Candles in festive aromas. Silver Bells is gorgeous, it smells of Christmas trees and I am very tempted to light it soon!

DougalDoneGood · 26/10/2009 11:09

Can I join please!

I started yesterday with the purchase of some stocking fillers and now I've got the bug. I'm determined to make a huge dent in my list of things to be done this week

alwayslookingforanswers · 26/10/2009 11:35

I have just reserved DS2 (nearly 6) "main" present from Argos.

DH is faffing with his re-found MP3 player and DS2 wants to listen in the whole time. DH turned to me and said

"can just imagine DS2 with one of these dancing round the room to his hearts content without the music bugging everyone else"

Scorps · 26/10/2009 11:41

I would like to join!!

Dc4 is due on Xmas day, so I have to be planned! Have done half, got some bargains inargos, scooters and upsy daisy bed toy.

I'm not getting dhs present until end of November though, but if everyone else is done it's all good. Dh gets very involved too so makes it easier.

We are staying at home this year, dh cooks, but may get pre prepared things (m&s) just incase I need dh for help with dc4 etc.

MrsBrendanCole · 26/10/2009 12:04

Christmas food shopping is ordered and will be delivered by the lovely Waitrose man on the 22nd December. I've been making little cards to go in our new Advent calendar with things to do on them.

Can't wait!

I've done stocking shopping and nieces and nephews (mostly).
And am squirrelling away some decoration bits, ribbons, cinnamon sticks florist wire etc.

I love christmas too..
have been updating my christmas card list with all new addresses ready for the cards

worked out things to go on my christmas list
going to make the cakes on wednesday night thursday whilst the boys are away.

so many stocking fillers marked in catalogues just need to actually buy them now

anyone got gorgeous ideas for things to put in my advent calendar.. I was thinking they could be clues to where a treat is hidden as the pockets are rather tiny to hold 2 things for the boys.
