DD is going to get a wardrobe to match the desk she got last year as a joint birthday and Christmas present from her parents and her four grandparents (it's pink and very expensive beautiful!).

And FC will bring her lots and lots of toys as it is probably the last year she will believe...

MavisEnderby · 21/09/2009 20:15

DS is getting a Wii (it is for Christmas and birthday)

dd I am thinking of getting her a special needs trike for Christmas/birthday but the cost is making my eyes water.

YouLukaStunning · 21/09/2009 20:17

Exactly the same as every single year for three of mine, new dolls! We always have a tough time between September and December while they all decide which doll/s they are going to give to charity to make space for the newcomers.
Other dc will be having lego or marble run or playmobil

spacedog · 21/09/2009 20:47

oooh, good, loads of ideas. Keep 'em coming.

Is anyone else having trouble reconciling the toys you would like them to have with the shoddy plastic crap toys they actually want?

For example, I would love one of the DDs to upgrade her doll's house to the lovely Pintoy Marlborough house. But- no, she wants Disney Princess or Barbie stuff, which is flimsy plastic and cardboard and not much cheaper than Pintoy.

we're getting a Wii for dp and me the family

ds1 wants the duplo firestation and firetruck so he'll get that from santa but haven't a clue what we're getting him yet

dd has knackered the DS so i'm buying her a new one of her own for christmas but she hasn't decided what she wants from santa yet

ds2 has so many hand me downs from the other two and will only be 10 months so i'm lost as to what we'll get him

1dilemma · 21/09/2009 21:06

trying to get an elc dino race thing or dino valley.

other one needs a bike but has to grow a couple of inched first

tempted to get some electronic/computer type thing for everyone to share (and have done with it ) but not sure which is best and think dcs are too young this year

dizzymac · 21/09/2009 21:12

Loving the Rain.. sorry I've been working!
That is exactly the one she is having long with a white Ikea desk ( I can't remember which one now).

LovingTheRain · 21/09/2009 21:40

dizzymac, how funny - great minds think alike and all that!

dizzymac · 21/09/2009 21:54

Indeed. Good luck with the ponies. Mine would love them but sadly not enough room.

lizziemun · 21/09/2009 21:56

notgettinganyyounger · 22/09/2009 06:40

This is what mine would like not necessarily what we will be buying!

DD - 14 - new laptop

DS - 13 - xbox 360 beatles rockband thingy (the £179 one }

DS2 9 - FIFA 10 for playstation

elliepac · 22/09/2009 06:51

DS (6) - something ben 10 related i should think

DD (20months) - lots of doll stuff

Thinking of getting a wii as a family present.

PinkTulips · 23/09/2009 19:34

just bought ds2's present... a peppa pig music set. dp saw it, laughed and said 'Bang, bang, bang all christmas day'

lunavix · 24/09/2009 11:22

Ds wants the lego city police set, which I am desperately trying to find cheaper than £60.

Dd however... I have no idea what to get her. She's 3, and she's smart enough to notice if ds gets a nice big present and she doesn't, but she doesn't really want for much.

And as said previously, don't want to buy her plasticy tat just for the sake of it.

CrackersInBed · 24/09/2009 11:30

ds (5) wants Hot Wheels Criss Cross track and dd (5) wants Baby Alive doll that wees (?)

Lindax · 24/09/2009 21:19

great thread as I have started thinking about Xmas and what to get ds (5) as his main pressie.

lunavix lego police station here for £46.99 free delivery over £50 so need to buy something cheap to cover it. If you want for Xmas buy early as last year they went go out of stock everywhere in November. Toy-r-us did a special exclusive pack last year for £50 which had extra vehicles in it (around early Nov).

but

we got ds this last year and although it is fab looking and the detail (including toilets in the cells!) is amazing be warned it took me (not ds as he got bored within 1/2 hour) at least 4 solid hours to build!

Also we found it was not great to play with as bits fell off (as you would expect as Lego its more meant for taking apart and rebuilding) and it was too complicated for him to fix himself and he got very frustrated. I got fed up dusting it so have put away until he is a bit older and is more interested in building himself (for him I'm guessing around 7 yrs old).

He loves Lego, but think this set was too much for him at 5.

Plonker · 24/09/2009 21:30

Dd1 will be 10 at Christmas - she wants a mobile phone.

Dd2 will be 6.5 at Christmas - she wants a bike.

Dd3 will be 2.5 at Christmas - we are getting her a balance bike.

I LOVE it when the children need new bikes at Christmas time

Buda · 25/09/2009 12:58

DS is 8 and wants an iPod. Not sure what else to get him. He has saved birthday money to buy 2 new PS2 games that come out in November which is a bugger as we could have gotten him them for Xmas.

He has books he got last Xmas that he hasn't opened. He has a Hot Wheels set that he got and hasn't opened. Has tonnes of Lego.

Maybe some games. I remember playing one called Trionimoes with a friend's DS years ago so may get him that one and maybe Junior Mastermind if they still do it. I used to love that.

I find 8 and awkward age!

tummytickler · 26/09/2009 19:35

Hmmmm - finding it stressful this year as we are shorter on cash than we have ever been, so i have decided to get bits on ebay if i can

ds2 will be 2 years - Sylvanian country bus and figures, Playmobil aeroplane and figures, teddy

dd2 will be 4 years - Sylvanians Oakwood Manor (ebay!), dolls (possible Hollie Hobbies seen on ebay!), books and bits and bobs

ds1 will be just 7 (4 days before Xmas!)- skateboard and all the bits, loads of lego, CD player and novels on CD (he is dyslexic and want to give him a bit more freedom with his literature for when i cannot read to him), possibly a guitar if we can afford it, dinosour encyclopedia, Beast Quest books.Liverpool football kit (split between b'day and xmas)

dd1 will be 8 - digital camera, 17 again DVD, skateboard, Spy books,

Really struggling with dd1 - she wants girly toys, but i don't see that she will be playing with them for long - i might leave it to FC to bring her dollies - I just don't know what to buy 8 year old girls! Will be following with interest!

EldonAve · 27/09/2009 17:25

I think mine will be getting more wooden train track and an engine shed

Marioandluigi · 27/09/2009 18:37

DD is getting a Wheely bug, DS1 is getting the Lego police station and a Wii game, DS2 is getting a wooden train track thing from Tesco and a Chuggington DVD because he is so difficult to buy for.

I have got various little bits too, plus clothes for each of them and Pyjamas and a dressing gown each, which I always buy at christmas. It makes it look like they have lots of presents

Romanarama · 27/09/2009 18:45

Trampoline for me all the dss (7, 5, 3). Then stocking fillers - not sure what yet, will see what they decide to ask FC. They still believe.

MillyMollyMoo · 28/09/2009 10:19

DC1 - aged 9 is getting a phone, a DS game, some lego and clothes and accessories she wants.
DC2 - aged 7 is getting a ipod shuffle, some CD's, a DS game and a few silvania bits and bobs.
DC3 - aged 5 is having a Belle costume complete with shoes etc, other disney tat and a DS lite which I'm hoping to find on ebay.
I'll get them chocolate and sweets too, but I'd normally spend at least £200 each this year it'll be nearer £120.00 unless someting amazing happens.
