Ds is probably getting a new scooter. He would love some Lego too.

Dd wants almost everything she see's on the adverts!

Dc3 will get bits from relatives and will be only 2 months! Just token bits so dd and ds can help dc3 open them

Might get them some hama/bindees/bendaroos as a joint thing.

I think the overall amounts will be sropping but hoping by playing it a bitr clever that they won't notice as much.

DS4 is 18 months and has an ELC garage already waiting, so he will get some cars, maybe a Ninky Nonk as well

DS3 has a massive present which we though eff it and bought from his DLA, it means i'm going to be poor for a few weeks but we'vce relaised this year just how pervasive his SN is and we wantd to make a big dealof Christmas for him. It's a robot dino, also from ELC.

DS2 hasn't decided yet.

DS1 has asked for a roboquad, and will also get a DSi game and a book, plus maybe a bionicle but the DSi is sahred between Christmas and his birthday just before.

It's still a bit ouch in cost, although far less than usual (we don't do gifts / toys except on Chrstmas and birthdays) we've had a bad year and neither of us have a FT job any more, but we're covering it by not getting presents / wine /adult treats instead, a choice we'rehappy enough to make- it's just a year or two after all,and I'drather the ds's had the memoris iyswim..

Spacedog, when I was little all I wanted was the big crappy barbie house. The one made of a thin pink plastic frame with cardboard wall inserts. Mum refused to get it for me and instead bought me a beautiful handmade wooden dolls house with real wallpaper and carpets and tiny roof tiles etc. I hated it, my barbies wouldn't fit in the little 5 inch door, or in the little wooden beds.

ds will be 2.4 - I'll probably get him a vtech ITNG singing book thing I've seen, a plastic tool kit so he can fix things with daddy, and maybe a plastic garage. No point in going overboard when he doesn't even know what christmas is yet! In fact I think I'll get him a pack of 30 batteries and put them in all his toys which don't work!!

DD aged 8 has asked for an iPod and a proper dollhouse.

Lovingtherain, she got a Furreal pony last year. I don't really find it creepy, but it does respond to sound. On Christmas morning we had a movie on tv and the pony kept swivelling it's head over to that corner, as thoughit was watching! Also, the packaging is hilarious! When you open the box there is a big cardboard covering everything and a letter advising you not to open the box with your child present. When you take the cover off, there is the great big decapitated pony head staring up at you They have to take the head off to fit it in the box, and I presumesome poor child was terribly traumatized bythe experience before a warning was included!

BananaPudding, were you not tempted to play a Godfather inspired prank or two on your dh with that decapitated horses head? If not you're a better man than I...

spacedog · 28/09/2009 11:06

JamesAndTheGiantBanana, with the Godfather joke.
You are right about the Barbie thing, I too remember trying unsuccessfully to squeeze them into the normal dolls house. Although I could cry at the thought of that 'orrible pink cardboard contraption in the house. The big one is nearly 200 quid in John Lewis and the smaller but equally crap Musketeers Castle is 75! I'd feel sick handing over the cash.
