Anyone else really, really hate New Year's Eve? Come and join me and feel miserable.

I feel as if I am an alien. I don't like New Year's Eve at all and DH thinks I am miserable. The only other person I know who hates New Year's Eve is my mum! Everyone else seems to really like it. I don't get it. I've never liked it. I hate the feeling of 'you must enjoy' about it and the 'oooh a new year hooray' stuff and I always feel crap on New Year's Day due to too much drink and lack of sleep. We are having some friends over tonight, which is nice but I'd just rather go to bed by myself at 9pm with a good book and a hot chocolate than get dressed up, eat nice food, drink champagne and stay up until 2am being jolly. Does anyone else feel like me? Or am I really just a miserable old cow!

.....and what about all the texts from people who never usually bother to txt Also we just got a phone call They knew we weren't going out so they call at 1am shouting down the phone wishing us a happy bloody new year.......not the mobile, the land line, so anyone who was in bed is awake now!!! Whats all that about? How inconsiderate!

Walked past six pools of vomit this morning on the way to our pub lunch and was wished a 'happy new year' by three winos still drinking! Oh the joy.

I did have a good time last night despite really hating new year's eve but do feel crap today thanks to too much wine and champagne. Would rather do it for no reason at all rather than just because it is new year's eve.

Had a bit of a strange NYE because just as I was putting children to bed DS1 became inconsolable as my friend 'told him off' and then DS2 projectile vomits in the bathroom! At least it was memorable...

So no hot chocolate this year, perhaps next.

I hate it too, last time i went out on nye was 2005 my bil was very badly beaten up and spent a week in hospital, the time before that i met my ex was 2002 and we broke up last year. I never have really enjoyed going out on nye myself and spent last night alone

I don't hate new year's eve but I don't go out. We celebrate by having a nice meal with my parents and my nan on new year's day.

I had a great nye this year. I went to sleep at 11 and the fireworks didn't wake me up

Thank you, i thought it was just me happy to stay in new years eve and going to bed before 11pm.

Fed up of people telling me i should be at a party etc.. i dont understand whats to celebrate? any debts in 2008 you still have in 2009, any problems are still there after the clock strikes midnight.

And anyway when i did party and drink too much (must be 4yrs ago) i just spent the first day of the new year in bed with a huge hangover!.
