It has to be done. Hamas have to be destroyed as do their government buildings and infastructure and smuggling tunnels. Of course Israel is under no illusion that this will last - within a few years they'll rebuild helped by teh kind Iranians and their mad President - and the rockets will start again. But the situation can't continue.

rev - may I ask in what capacity you have met and interviewed palestinians? Are you a journalist by any chance?

As for palesitinans wanting peace - in all the media broadcasts I have evenr seen in this country and abroad I have never - ever - ever - seen a palestinian promoting or supporting a peace movement for peace with Israel. Ever. In fact "co-operation " with Israel is punishable in palistinain controlled areas with a particularly delightful punishment. The victim is set alight with oil and fire and left to burn alive whilst the baying crowds cheer and jeer. So please please don't play the card of the palestinias wanting peace. If that is the case they only had to vote for it with their feet. But wait - they voted for Hamas didn't they? Landslide victory too. Peace my bloody ass.

Rev - I can forgive you for that but I can't forgive you being blinded by the palestinian playing the card of the poor innocent wanting peace. Read my last post. They voted for Hamas. They got war not peace. They cheered the London bus bombings - they celebrarted the destruction of the twin towers - remember the sick scenes of the cheering crowds in Jericho and Gaza City and Rafiah. Sick , sick, sick. And they want peace.

If you are christian I would imagine you are well aware that this goes deeper than Israel/Palestine.

But you are not answering my posts. Having Israeli relatives and having interviewd palestinians does not make you unbiased or able to offer a balanced view.

I think 'the west' stands in the eyes of those who are basically trodden on by richer/more powerful countries, almost as a symbol rather than an actuality. I am not explaining that very well, I know, but I think there is far more sympathy on an individual level, than there is for 'the west' as an entity.

ReturnIsAbasicHumanRight I am half palestinian and I also find your denial of the holocaust very offensive. In fact it is the holocaust that has caused this situation. The world felt very guilty and eventually turned a blind eye to what was going on in Palestine.

Lisalisa to understand the mentality of those supporting Hamas ( i DO NOT support them) you have to know your history. Jews took over THEIR land. They even moved into their furnished homes which the palestinians had to flee from. Most still have the keys to their homes. Fast forward a couple of generations who have had to live in refugee camps and you get a psychologically damaged nation-understandably-who have NEVER experienced the peace that we take for granted.

I also understand why Israel will never trust them. It's a bloody hopeless vicious circle that affects me very deeply and I see no hope ever.

As a christian palestinian I hate the ideals of Hamas but I hate the zionists more for in effect they created them.

ISRAEL IS a recognised / country.
They have a right to defend their borders.
However the sight of civilain deaths ...is an awful, terrible evil....and is a result of the human spirit fighting for survival....on which ever side of the fence you may find yourself.
Its just such an awful mess.
