i actully wobbled a few times about buying it because none of us are games console nerds but it is brilliant!!

my sister and i (who i have a bit of a tough relationship with at times) had a great laugh last night mole stomping on the family trainer and dh and my brother are having a male bonding session playing golf together.

we even had a bowling tournement this morning and i won £4

shame the dc cant get near it though

ds1 (11) has been getting loads of exercise on the family trainer: I'm very impressed. He's not an active child, and needs a lot of encouragement to do anything physically tiring.

He has lots of stamina and will walk (at an ambling pace) for miles and miles - all day, and swimw well too. But he hates running or football or anything like that.

beautifulgirls · 28/12/2008 16:54

Another vote here for Mario Kart - tis fab. We also got Family Ski for Christmas and use it with the wii fit board and love that too.

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 28/12/2008 17:28

my hand has gone numb after soundly thrashing dh at almost all the games on wii play

SnowballsintheSky · 28/12/2008 17:30

I'm addicted to the step exercises on the Wii Fit. I do it after everyone has gone to bed! I could do with the exercise though so it's good so far.

kid · 28/12/2008 17:41

We have a wii and a wii fit and are now the proud owners of an Xbox 360. I spent 3 hours playing it the other day! I intend to spend several hours playing it tomorrow too as I don't want to go out

I even bought an extra controller today so the kids can both play it with me!

unfitmother · 28/12/2008 17:51

We got the Wii Fit this Christmas, It's great fun, we've all been competing. My Wii age is less than my real age and 20 yrs less than DH's!
Shame about my BMI though.

kerryk · 28/12/2008 20:50

diet starts jan 2nd so hopefully i will have it by then

fatzak - we had the same problem. Have you tried checking which channel it is using? In the end we had to get a different t, it just wopuldn't work on ours.

good luck!

ChristMarsSleighdy · 28/12/2008 20:58

It is great. Though I'm sure mine is broken as the children continually beat me at bowling!

ShyBaby · 28/12/2008 21:14

It is great. We took it to the grandparents house on Christmas day and they sat open mouthed at it! Dd beats me on everything though.

kid · 28/12/2008 22:00

fatzak - could you do a search on the internet on your TV. Its unlikely to not work on either TV, you must be doing something wrong.

Mine came with the 3 coloured wires (red, yellow and white) along with an adapter. I used the adapter and plugged it into a scart lead adapter I have. Then we had to change the source channel. It could be either AV1, 2 or 3. I made sure the wii was switched on and then I just keep pressing the button until the screen shows up!

Keep trying, don't give up and it will be worth it in the end!

I'm hoping to persaude the DS's to "club" their Christmas money together and buy another Wii game, DS1 has £10, DS2 also has £10, but also another £17 from his birthday money that we'd saved...........I'm willing to top up..............

kid · 28/12/2008 23:09

We got Mario and Sonic at the olympics and my kids love it. I haven't had a go on that game yet. I was too busy laughing at them!

TwoIfBySea · 28/12/2008 23:13

Oh is that family trainer good then?

We have the wii fit and it is brilliant fun. Especially like the penguin game although where our tv is positioned the neighbours can probably see me jumping about like a loony. (Not that they don't already think that of me anyway!)

Quite fancied the family trainer. Actually speaking of fancies, does anyone else think the male "trainer" on wii fit looks a little like David Tennant (give me a break I am single, I am allowed delusions!)

IllegallyBrunette · 28/12/2008 23:15

I am getting addicted to Animal Crossing and actually moaned at dd1 to get off it because I hadn't had a go today and she was pinching all of the cherries

OMG, have just done 30 mins of steps including my new unlocked 'free stepping'. I can't move my legs so it must be doing me some good!

roisin · 30/12/2008 17:27

We wanted Wii Fit, but couldn't get one, so got Family Trainer instead. It's great, and everyone seems to be enjoying it.

I am rubbish at skipping and pretty hopeless at kayaking. But I'm awesome at the tube thingie

tribpot · 30/12/2008 17:31

Does anyone know where you can buy a Wii at the moment?!

LIZS · 30/12/2008 17:46

We've not set the board up yet(dh was a bit worried when I mentioned it weighed you!) but have spent last couple of afternoons on Family Ski ! Kids love the cow racing and tanks on Play

smartiejakeonachristmascake · 30/12/2008 17:48

We got a wii last year and I managed to get a wii fit for CHristmas this year.

Finally got round to trying it out today (didn't want to do the initial assessment when DH was here! )

I went on it this afternoon and couldn't believe how after only 20 mins I eally felt like I had done a bit of a work out. Really great fun too. Will definitely be using it daily.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 30/12/2008 17:48

oh god yes my boys are obsessed with the tanks on play - DS1's record so far on his own is 12 tanks, DS2's 10

Mine is 5

I rather like the fishing

TwoIfBySea · 30/12/2008 17:51

I got fed up waiting for the wii fit to be in the shops after everyone was bulk buying them to sell on at extortionate prices so I bought ours from Amazon France. It cost less (even with postage) so it is worth maybe looking there for a wii too?

But with the exchange rate now I don't know if it would be cost saving at all.

Still it is an option, depending on how desperate you are for one.

And the tennis is brilliant for getting rid of the bingo wings!

tribpot · 30/12/2008 21:04

Malheuresement, the blardy rato d'exchange means the Wii is beaucoup expensivo in France too, damn that sterling!

But would be a good deal if sterling not at such a low level.
