well i'm in essex, though i've always fancied somewhere like dorset.
actually decided that wiltshire might be my ideal county the other day.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/12/2008 07:27

Wiltshire is beautiful, not as beautiful as Dorset, I think I would miss the sea too much.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 24/12/2008 07:28

oh yes would like the sea...

but thinking wilts would be more central for family to get to/us to get to see other friends.

essex - we always have to get past london wherever we want to go.

ok, too creepy.
maybe oxfordshire?
bit pricy and too upper class for me i think!

TWINSETinapeartree · 24/12/2008 07:32

I dont get a signal in all the rooms in my house and never get a signal in town.

jINGLESbells · 24/12/2008 07:34

I dont know what s wrong with me this year, I can't be arsed to do anything xmasy... can't eve be bothered to wrap the pressies
thought another coffee and some ginger nuts might do it.
Wiltshire is lovely too
I'm in Kent now and that's pretty gorgeous. milder than Dorset and sea too

jINGLESbells · 24/12/2008 07:35

I only have a signal standing at my front door.. tis quite annoying and people just don't get it do they....

TWINSETinapeartree · 24/12/2008 07:35

Dp really likes Kent, I went for a job at Benenden school and we loved it around there but it is so expensive. Dorset is much more reasonable.

jINGLESbells · 24/12/2008 07:36

oooo spooky Twinset. That's where I live
well not actually in Benenden school

JustKeepSingingCarols · 24/12/2008 07:37

most of kent would have the london/m25 issue to though?

maybe Glos?
though could be too green-wellie....

don't know why i'm expending brain energy on this, dh's job will keep us here for a good while yet!

TWINSETinapeartree · 24/12/2008 07:38

You are very lucky then Jingles, Dp was only talking about how lovely it is there this evening,

jINGLESbells · 24/12/2008 07:40

it is lovely, but you're right it's cripplingly expensive, which is why I'm not feeling so into Xmas

TWINSETinapeartree · 24/12/2008 07:42

right I am going to get a few hours sleep before stage 2 of the bake-a-thon begins.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/12/2008 07:57

I lived in Kent for a year and found it a bit too pretty, very expensive as well.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/12/2008 07:57

Not rugged enough

JustKeepSingingCarols · 24/12/2008 08:09

Is Dorset rugged though?
There's always Cumbria!

Fancy the Cornish surfing lifestyle too - though i'm rubbish at surfing!
Just a bit of a traveller and getting itchy feet - have been here 4.5yrs now - longest I've lived anywhere!
and knowing we won't move, makes me think about it more, contrary that i am!

jINGLESbells · 24/12/2008 08:16

LOl it's not pretty atm. more of a barren, muddy, windy mess.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/12/2008 08:17

It is where we are, lots of hills, heathland and downland.

jINGLESbells · 24/12/2008 08:17

Cumbria sounds nice. definitely rugged

JustKeepSingingCarols · 24/12/2008 08:18

yeah, rugged, but blardy chilly

i'm a soft southerner!

in fact i'd be happier be further south....like the Med!

TWINSETinapeartree · 24/12/2008 11:57

I swear it has been colder this winter in Dorset than we have felt in Lancashire.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 24/12/2008 13:02

Maybe so....but i'll stay as far south as i can for now thanks!

Last time i went 'north' we stayed in Yorkshire with dh's aunt and i didn't take my coat off all weekend!!

chatname · 24/12/2008 14:47

Aha, another Hampshire/Dorset border person here. We did the supermarket thing yesterday (though we gave up on salad). We are wondering whether to go to the Christingle service in the village, but DS has a cold, so we'll see how he is when he wakes up from his nap.
