do you think that santa this year might be a little concerned with packaging and waste and therefore be able to get away with not wrapping anything????

well

or is that lazy and mean of me a little sad for the children?

you already know the answer to that!

nancy75 · 18/12/2008 23:32

what about big gift bags, i hear santa loves them and lots of the supermarkets are doing them very cheaply!

Although you are doing the same as I do - why use your time doing something when you can post a thread, thearby avoiding doing it! It is a very smart tactic IMO

SparklyGothKat · 18/12/2008 23:35

I haven't wrapped a thing yet, and I still have shopping to do arrghhh

MrsWeasleyStrokesSantasSack · 18/12/2008 23:35

Dont worry Psycho thats what xmas eve is for!
I am always wrapping late on xmas eve. It has happened so often that friends now call in on the way to and from midnight mass as they know we will be up, wrapping

Oovavu · 18/12/2008 23:35

Oh god I started this yesterday and nearly lost my teeth chomping down on sellotape. It was tedious.

but glad I broke the back of it (virtuous)

skrimbo · 18/12/2008 23:36

Sets of gift bags from pound shop

pinkbubble · 18/12/2008 23:36

Could Santa go GREEN this year! Worth a try! I am trying it!

AlexanderSantasmum · 18/12/2008 23:37

Last year my mum had these giftwrap bags from Costco which were like parcels already made into a bag shape with one end open and an adhesive strip, so all you had to do was put the present in and seal the end.

Worth looking for something similar?

WinkyWinkola · 18/12/2008 23:39

You could use recycled wrapping paper

or put all the gifts in a barrel filled with newspaper and have fun on Christmas Day doing a lucky dip!

psychohohohoho · 18/12/2008 23:40

yes, I really should be using my time now wrapping shouldn't I..........

nah, MN is far more fun.

I am thinking tho that h might have a change of plan for the stockings this year.....damn fiddly pressies in there

I am not thinking of it for the big stuff BTW......how boring woul that look under the tree

OP posts:
NCRedBreastedBirdy · 18/12/2008 23:42

I agree, in fact I would rather be getting all cross and huffy about things that really don't concern me than wrapping right now....

We wra one or two items in a stocking and nothing else, it takes hours and that is just wasted MN family time IMO

psychohohohoho · 18/12/2008 23:42

the bags idea's sound good......

as does the lucky dip (altho that does still involve wrapping!)

hmmmmmm...........wrapping might indeed need to be changed this year!!

oh, and mrsweasly.......I am not allowed to wrap on xmas eve this year, DH has given strict instructions and even FORBADE me!!

OP posts:
MrsWeasleyStrokesSantasSack · 18/12/2008 23:44

I would hand DH the paper and tape then

WinkyWinkola · 18/12/2008 23:44

You don't have to wrap for lucky dip. Just stick gifts in there and then the nippers draw them out and have to guess who they are for.

Fancy DH forbidding you from wrapping on C.E. Very masterful.

hippocampus · 18/12/2008 23:47

Oh...but the last minute xmas eve malarkey is soooooo much fun. We thought we would do away with the panic this year and wrap early on a dismal Fiday afternoon...I just got cross with the bloody sellotape.

Leave it till the 24th, it'll be fine...

psychohohohoho · 18/12/2008 23:55

well....he has a point.

last year I promise they would all be done before xmas eve, and on the most part they were bar about 4 last minute bits (my neighbour gave some money for a few extra bits each).

anyway............there was me trying frantically to do it all, and then fill them and of course the boys got disturbed so I bunged a blanket over it all and sat on it to hide it while DH grabbed said boys and ran.....

only the stockings are musical ones and they went off with my weight.

soooooooooooooo

this year is no wrapping on xmas eve

and yet.......here I am sat on MN instead of being constructive......

OP posts:
NCRedBreastedBirdy · 18/12/2008 23:55

I agree the 24th works well, mostly because you have to do it so you get on without moaning, just crack open your reserved christmas tipple and go... and go..... and go... by then you are so drunk you don't care much so you keep going..... and going...... by 3am you are about ready to wrap the dog/turkey/kids if they rise before 9am

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 18/12/2008 23:59

My main aim for this year is to have everything done before the 24th of course, so, like you I am being lazy constructive!

I think that the closer it gets the more exciting it is to be spending all my me spare time wrapping...

PurplePillowsInSantasBed · 19/12/2008 00:00

Is this a bad time to say all mine are wrapped and in bags for all the different families apart for the last minute stuuf I have to get on monday?

psychohohohoho · 19/12/2008 00:01

ncbirdy........why do I get the feeling that in the next few days we are going to be having a wrapping thead going where we wrap one, post, wrap, post..............going on and on for about......ooh.....three days(and getting steadily more pissed and incoherant, and the wrapping getting worse and worse!!)

Purple Pillow - YES

Psycho, that may be a very good idea, we can make a sport of it... who can wrap the quickest after a couple of bottles glasses of wine or who can wrap the most gifts before realising they are all the same shape and have no labels on.... Ooh, I bet I could win that one

PurplePillowsInSantasBed · 19/12/2008 00:04

In my defence, There is only me and I am lucky as all presents are stored at my Dm's and I wrapped when Dd was at school.

I'm not that well organised usually
