I just spent the weekend with my family as we are all apart at Christmas, adn my little bro decided to organise a gingerbread house competition.
Have a look, tell me who you think should win, and share your pics as I am feeling nosy!

(not saying which is mine, but the ages were 23 bro and his gf, me at 30, dsis at 34 and her dh and dsis at 37...)

The first one, not just a gingerbread house - a gingerbread terrace!

Yanda · 15/12/2008 15:35

The first one, not just a gingerbread house - a gingerbread terrace!

ramonaquimby · 15/12/2008 15:36

I like the 3rd one!

what a great idea!!

(did think that 2nd was made by a child !

LadyPenelope · 15/12/2008 15:38

First one is ace! Like 4th one too - pretty roof, but for me first one is out and out winner.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 15/12/2008 15:40

I like the fourth one the best the third one is good too but more like a gingerbread tent. The first one also shows great attention to detail.

timmette · 15/12/2008 15:42

I like the fourth one

vesela · 15/12/2008 15:44

They're all nice ;) special marks for effort to gingerbread terrace, but there's something about the gingerbread tent that I like the best.

I make them too, but diddy little ones (using the cutters that come with that little gingerbread house book if anyone knows the one I mean. The roofs never quite fit on properly).

Sazisi · 15/12/2008 15:46

I like the 4th one best

They are all gorgeous though

ChirpyGrinch · 15/12/2008 15:47

The 3rd one is a gingerbread tent, made by very keen camper/s
it has a fire and everyuthing! (is not mine btw)

the last one was made with a kit, the others were hand cut.
took us all evening, was great fun, and my mum judged then all, shall add her comments in a bit

The 4th is very traditional - I have to say though, i am swung by the tent

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 15/12/2008 15:47

i prefer the first one, alot more effort has gone into it.

But of course they are all good

HappyMummyOfOne · 15/12/2008 17:14

4th one is my favourite

Yanda · 15/12/2008 17:16

Hey there was only 3 when I looked

travellingwilbury · 15/12/2008 17:20

I like the tent

The others do look good but I think the tent is a really good idea

ChirpyGrinch · 15/12/2008 19:29

Thanks! Still not saying which is mine until I see some of your photos....

(shameless bump...)

Very nice Bloss. We are doing our 'proper' one in a few days (those ones were done after DD's were in bed ) so shall be storing up more ideas!

The kit one was done by my anally neat little brother and his gf, whose idea it was. And he orginally said he was going to judge until we all (all older sisters) shouted him down on teh grounds that he is a cheaty cheatpants.

Go on poinsettia, you could make a flat roof one first and stick shredded wheat on for thatch! or kits in aldi are a fiver.........

OP posts:
kslatts · 16/12/2008 09:48

I think the 4th one is best.

PoinsettiasScareMe · 16/12/2008 10:17

aldi kit sounds good!

Cies · 16/12/2008 10:20

The 4th is definitely the neatest, and most similar to one you'd find in a shop, BUT if it's made from a kit then it has an unfair advantage.

So, saying that, I'd go for the first one.

What a fabulous idea for a rainy day at home!

ChirpyGrinch · 16/12/2008 10:23

aldi has the best kit, it even has littel pre modelled people in it!
I am saving it for christmas eve activity with dd's as i wont have to cook anything!

My BIL flatpacked my house so I could get it home, I am terrified to open the parcel in case I can't put it back together! (was a rented hosue so we all had to take them, and we were 2 hours on windy roads!)
