how much do you want to spend? do you relly need to buy something for an on/off girlfriend who has only just come back into the picurter?

sumomum · 12/12/2008 21:58

Anything related to cars. Or diggers

IdrisTheDragon · 12/12/2008 21:58

Toy cars always go down well

nancy75 · 12/12/2008 22:01

about £40, db and gf will come round on xmas day to give dd her present, db is always very generous with dds gift and i would feel awful if i didnt get the little boy anything. he is a really nice kid, i dont mind getting him a gift i just mind only finding out now!

Ring them up and ask if he's into wooden railway. £40 would get some lovely Brio/Thomas trains, they cost a fortune. Any wooden toys cost twice as much as usual and make you look like you have great taste.

feedthegoat · 12/12/2008 22:08

Another vote for wooden railway - my ds loves his.

nancy75 · 12/12/2008 22:16

so wooden trainset, any other ideas please, would like a few incase i cant get what i am looking for, am not going all over the place to get 1 gift (and if i have to go to argos i will lay on the floor kicking and screaming )

shake'n' go cars/racing track

toy garage

pirate stuff

dinosaur stuff

Orchard Toys games (under budget, they are £8-14 but lovely)

animal hand puppets

thisisyesterday · 12/12/2008 22:22

ELC sell the wooden thomas stuff, so just go there!

if you don't want it then get cars. ds1 would be over the moon with a big set of little metal cars lol

bodiddly · 12/12/2008 22:23

playmobil pirate ship ... duplo/lego .... puzzles, craft stuff, ... lots of small stuff up to the value ... jigsaw, book, sticker book, dinosaurs etc etc ... make up a selection.

muddleduck · 12/12/2008 22:23

play doh.

you can never have too much of it so it doesn't matter if he already has some.

have never met a 3 year old who doesn't like it and there is a set to suit any budget.

and you can get it from tescos etc so you don't even need a special shopping trip.

tassisssss · 12/12/2008 22:24

ELC wooden pirate ship or wooden castle (they have castle reduced to £30-something I think)

IMO not playmobil for a 3 year old unless you know for sure they could handle all the teeny bits.

nancy75 · 12/12/2008 22:25

am liking the idea of elc better than toys r us, i never look at boys toys dd is such a girly girl i just have no idea thank you all

OP posts:
BananaFruitBat · 12/12/2008 22:26

If you want elc I can give you a discount code.

bodiddly · 12/12/2008 22:27

yes elc have a 20% discount offer going at the moment!

SilentMNight · 12/12/2008 22:29

no don't get playdoh, fucking awful stuff, I'd make a voodoo doll of anyone who gave my dc playdoh

SilentMNight · 12/12/2008 22:30

And to try and be helpful as well I second the votes for thomas/trains/pirates/cars/diggers/tractors etc.

nancy75 · 12/12/2008 22:31

thanks for the offer bananafruitbat, i have a 20% voucher for elc in my bag so thats handy. am tempted to buy drum kit to punish my brother for making me shop so close to xmas!

OP posts:
BananaFruitBat · 12/12/2008 22:35

No, get the keyboard. It makes far more irritating noises.

nancy75 · 12/12/2008 22:36

i know, we've got one, not a bad idea actually!

OP posts:
PortAndStilton · 12/12/2008 22:39

Pirate ship or wooden castle/knighty thing.

muddleduck · 12/12/2008 22:40

What's wrong with playdoh?

it's the best value for money present we've ever had?
I've just given it to my friends dd. Will she hate me forever?

seriously, I'm confused
