So he is not Underground Ernie but a musician.

The slip says to provide "party clothes".

What would you put a musician in?????

PortAndLemon · 26/11/2008 16:09

DS (3) is insisting on being a donkey. He was going to be a shepherd but then discovered that there was a donkey costume...

Nursery seemed a bit nervous telling me; I thought that was odd, but perhaps they've encountered the sort of parents that mincepiemadness mentions before.

musicposy · 26/11/2008 16:21

DD1 (12) is a dwarf in a panto this year. She got fed up with all the dopey/grumpy jokes, but then at a promo event last weekend she met a girl her age who was the back end of the pantomime cow in Jack and the Beanstalk.....

Makes you quite grateful, really

musicposy · 26/11/2008 16:28

I wouldn't worry too much Marne, main parts in these things aren't all they're cracked up to be. When DD1 was 4 she was cast as Mary at nursery. All the other parents instantly hated me (like it was my fault) and a couple went so far as to tell me that their kid would have been much better

Mind you, they were probably right. I always remember the teacher saying "Mary was very tired" and DD1 (who at 4 didn't do tired, only very energetic) actually ran up the aisle . It confirmed what all the other mothers already knew - their kids would have been better....

clumsymum · 26/11/2008 16:32

I can remember being Virgin Mary 2 years running age 5 and 6. I think it was because I had my own blue tablecloth to wear .

Marne · 26/11/2008 16:33

Im not too bothered, i think the older children get the better parts, its only a small school so they only do 2 plays (class 1 2 and 3 do one play, 5 and 6 do another), dd1 is in reception so they all got small parts, her friend is a sheep and her other frien (2 years older) is a king. Dd1 seems happy with her part, im sure she will be great.

DS2 is a fish seller.
He even has a basket.

iheartdusty · 26/11/2008 17:12

DD is a star
DS is Uncle Sam the shepherd who has lost his sheep. He has lines to say. I am planning on having a little chat with him about how Uncle Sam does not need to fall dramatically to the floor, and how undesirable it would be if Someone started to improvise to try to get a few laughs...

2beautifulgalsandasnowglobe · 26/11/2008 17:19

My DD (4) is an OX and has to tap her hand!

Slouchy · 26/11/2008 17:21

dd1 is a donkey
dd2 is Mary
slouchy is Blubbing Wreck No1

theITgirl · 26/11/2008 17:22

DD is Mary - a non-speaking part
DS is a chinese (I believe a person from china and not egg fried rice) and has 3 words to say.
I will be blubbing

festivedollyx · 26/11/2008 19:34

DD1 narrator
DD2 2 parts Angel and hip wise woman wearing lots of bling!!!!!!!

sagacious · 26/11/2008 19:40

dd (age 4) is mary
she has been lobbying for the part for weeks, she is diva esque in her demands for the perfect costume and she is demanding extra rehersals for her one line "I'm very tired"

I cringe

OK OK....be jealous

dd1 Mary

dd2 THE whoopsie daisy angel

dd3 cyring baby in the background

dinny · 26/11/2008 19:54

dd - narrator (a mightily put-out one, she wanted to be dancing angel)

Nemowith3and1tobe · 26/11/2008 20:01

Ds is apparently a happy birthday boy and has to sing to baby jesus

eandh · 26/11/2008 20:02

dd1 gets to be whatever she wants as preschool are scrapping the nativity this year (it was chaotic last year) so all children go in whatever costume they like and then they are having a christingle service and singing xmas songs (dd1 taking the practicing songs very seriously )

Convientely dd1 angel dress from last year still fits so she'll wear that (and dd2 will be at preschool next year so no douby she'll be wearing it!)

TheFallenMadonna · 26/11/2008 20:03

DD is a cat.

feetheart · 26/11/2008 20:11

DD wants to be Mary but will be 'p*ssed off star' instead I think
Ds has to be 'an animal'. I am steering him towards a sheep as I can probably turn him into one of those

Wallaroo · 26/11/2008 20:12

My DD is a cat too!
