It always disappoints me if I'm offered mulled wine - would rather a decent glass of untampered with red

It's an awful thing to do to wine.

Cies · 26/10/2008 21:07

You need to drink it outside, in the cold, by a bonfire or on the skislopes. THEN it's lovely and warming.

At any other time I'd rather the unadultered red.

I like wine, I like fruit, I love spices, but heating them up together doesn't work for me at all.

I don't like sangria either.

Would rather drink wine and eat fruit separately!

babyOcho · 26/10/2008 21:08

love it. it's the best thing about this time of year.

ohdearwhatamess · 26/10/2008 21:14

Horrible stuff.

SlasherGoober · 26/10/2008 21:15

NO! Tis nasty!

Buda · 26/10/2008 21:17

Yum!

expatinscotland · 26/10/2008 21:19

i can't even tolerate the smell of sangria afer one memorable occassion involving too much sangria combined with sailing and parasailing in Sanibel, Florida.

boak.

Yorky · 26/10/2008 21:21

Mmmm mulled wine yummy, we had it instead of bucks fizz as arrival drink for our wedding (Dec27)

expatinscotland · 26/10/2008 21:22

it's a drink for people who aren't drinkers.

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 27/10/2008 07:22

There was a pub we used to go to, in the winter there was a thing on the bar (equivalent of a beer pump clip type thingy), mulled wine. Order it, there's a sound like a kettle coming to the boil, and the barmaid hands over hot mulled wine.

Very nice, too drinkable.

MuAHAHAHAHAHmi · 27/10/2008 07:52

Have been put off since having a glass of what was allegedly mulled wine in a pub last year. Whatever it was, it was the most awful drink i have ever tasted bar none and I had to refrain from retching in front of new DP and friends at the time

Every other one has been lovely though - better in a mug! - so will give it another go this time around

procrastinatingparent · 27/10/2008 16:58

Best mulled wine has brandy, sugar and OJ in - I always get lots of complements when I use that recipe.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2008 16:59

that's the second vote for OJ, brandy and sugar recipe.

BRING IT ON THEN!
