I'm idly wondering where the hell I can put the tree seeing as I have a very inquisitive vandal 1 year old DD who will delight in pulling it over ten times a day.

Guadalupe · 17/10/2008 17:21

I am always amazed at trees appearing in windows in November. Aren't people sick of it after a week?

pooka · 17/10/2008 17:21

At the end of the summer holidays. Gives the children something to look forward.

21st December. (DD birthday 20th, so we wait until after)..

Flightattendant2 · 17/10/2008 18:36

We don't even take ours down any more. It's there all the time. In fact we use it as an ashtray.

Flightattendant2 · 17/10/2008 18:37

yes Tids where are we going to put it?

I have the 16mo who has suddenly morphed from frankly disinterested state to 'I want to stick my hands in the oven and tread on glass' boy. We might need a lindam playpen round it or something...

MurderAtTheDiscoDizzy · 17/10/2008 18:41

I generally see Xmas trees up in early Nov around here. Tis shocking, surely the novelty has worn off by Xmas. We usually put it up a week or so before.

nooka · 17/10/2008 18:45

My family put theirs up on Christmas Eve (with a greenery collection walk to go with it) and take it down on Epiphany (always used to have a big party then too). dh's family do the December-New Year thing. We haven't quite settled on a tradition of our own (even though we've been (mostly) together for almost 18 years!)

Always.

cocoleBOO · 17/10/2008 18:59

1st sunday in Dec and down the day after Boxing day.

idobelieveinghosts · 17/10/2008 19:00

On whichever Sunday in December that we have a spare minute!

Minniethemoocher · 17/10/2008 19:11

Decorations go up the weekend before Christmas, all down by 12th Night.

lilolilmanchester · 17/10/2008 22:21

Always after DH's birthday, which is mid-December, and often just the weekend before Christmas

Flibbertyjibbet · 17/10/2008 22:33

I forgot to take mine down on 6th Jan last year so as I'm superstitious I thought I'd better leave it up till the next 6th Jan

(19 Dec as Ds1s birthday is 18 Dec)
