The dreaded Secret Santa - £10 limit!

BeenChangedForGood · 02/12/2025 14:10

Very small team - only 4 of us and everyone else loves it so it starts getting awkward if I rule myself out to be honest (although I’d much rather rule myself out 🤣)

This year I’ve drawn the youngest in the team who I rarely work with so don’t know as well as the others - 25, very pink and girly, very religious, doesn’t drink, likes Disney. Quite opposite to me 🤣

Strict £10 limit - and vouchers are not allowed.

Anyone better at this than me? 🤣

Lisa Angel has some lovely things in their sale section — I just got this for a secret Santa recipient with their initial on and they have it in either gold or silver:

They also have lots of other nice jewellery items for under £10 in the sale, including earrings and bracelets.

Slightly over budget but this would be perfect (https://www.skinnydiplondon.com/products/disney-thumper-umbrella ). Personally I’d probably spend the extra couple of pounds to get something that’s useful.

https://www.dunelm.com/product/disney-winnie-sun-flask-1000267775?defaultSkuId=30976849 (This is cute and you could add some chocolate coins or nice tea/coffee/hot chocolate stick)

https://www.dunelm.com/product/set-of-2-disney-alice-in-wonderland-tealight-holders-1000251232?defaultSkuId=30963285 These are pretty

Maybe a really nice nail polish (https://www.boots.com/essie-original-nail-art-studio-special-effects-pixel-pearl-nail-polish-topcoat-angel-aura-10338291) or cute lip balm (https://www.boots.com/nivea-vanilla-cupcake-belle-limited-edition-lip-balm-4-8g-10372385 ). With a bar of chocolate or Lindt Santa.
Or these sets are nice and a bit more grown-up: https://www.asos.com/caudalie/caudalie-vinotherapist-hand-lip-duo/prd/203785266#colourWayId-203785267

I also think this is quite cute and feels like it might be something she’d like: https://www.marksandspencer.com/bow-handle-mug/p/hbp60757738?gl=17sv36d_upMQ..gsMQ..&gclid=Cj0KCQiAubrJBhCbARIsAHIdxD87GC3CY0LuPtM3VULJUz28udy1gxf2EJW6IgNLG-eAW7OCHs3SzQAaAsiEALwwcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&gbraid=0AAAAAD7g6bTiFgjDqpvRNVwHPysKEzIF#intid=pid_pg1pip48g2r7c2 maybe filled with a bag of chocolate coins.

You could also look at pretty stationary or fluffy socks (these are the ones I’ve bought my Secret Santa: https://www.fatface.com/style/su686009/f69494 again, very slightly over budget)

Don’t worry about some people having massive bag fulls of £1 items. I think most people would rather have one small thing that they’ll actually use.

Lip balm. In the sales you can get a decent one for £10. I wouldn’t do lots of £1 things that will eventually get binned.

autumn1610 · 02/12/2025 18:39

get something a bit different I stopped doing secret Santa when I found I put effort in and got zero effort gifts back….boots 3for2 I’m looking at you. I love the Disney Winnie the Pooh mug something like that where you have taken into account her likes etc

SpinningaCompass · 02/12/2025 19:36

I'd go with the Disney tree ornaments suggestions ... some great ones ... and a couple little chocolates.

Usernamenotav · 02/12/2025 20:11

Definitely a Disney decoration!!

mindutopia · 02/12/2025 20:18

We had a £5 limit the year we did it and I got someone cock and ball shortbread biscuits. 😂

We have that sort of work culture and the theme was ‘dirty Santa’. I got a box of awful chocolate tea (yes, chocolate tea). Would have much preferred dick biscuits.

CraftyGin · 02/12/2025 20:20

Go to a charity shop for something unusual. A floral china teacup?

ticktockitsNCtime · 02/12/2025 20:51

Yes!! I’m not even into Disney but I’d be happy to receive one of those!

Edited

You’re amazing at this! Can you buy present for all my people? Or even ones for me? 🤣

OP, I think you should go with the bow mug with small inner choc gift! It’s pretty and pink and fits a Disney style without going actual Disney which can be done to death and she may have loads of. Failing that, the Pooh one is cute too.

Ghhhn · 02/12/2025 20:57

Any suitable games on offer?

We had to do Secret Santa for £10 from charity shops. It was amazing what people found and the way they packed them up. Someone found a dress which they washed and ironed and added a collar and cuffs. She'd guessed the dress would fit. It was fun going round tge charity shops.

hidinginthebathroomagain · 02/12/2025 21:30

I bought in boots 3 candies with initials on. £5 each and in the 342 offer. Got the recipient her BF and initials. Super cute

GoodFingernails · 02/12/2025 21:38

You can get nice hot chocolate gift sets from home bargains. One was very much enjoyed by my daughter for several months last year.

I was once given a 3 foot tall wooden elf for secret santa, it was terrifying. I didn't even take it into my house, i donated it to a charity shop on my way home. I can still picture its creepy eyes and grin 😳. Im sure it would have tried to kill me in my sleep......

Roxttc · 02/12/2025 21:56

If she’s into make up I thought this was a really good secret Santa gift on ASOS the other day they have 25% off codes at the moment so would be £9 - www.asos.com/prd/209453034?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

ThisZanyPinkSquid · 02/12/2025 22:18

As a Disney adult that is literally the easiest thing to buy 🤣 Disney mug, hot chocolate and a pair of Disney cosy socks.

You can buy Disney things anywhere now, even Primark does a good selection slightly more reasonable

Mygardenandme · 03/12/2025 00:01

Lovely notebook and pen?
A pretty mirror?
A make up bag?
Make up brush roll?
Pretty glasses case?
Hot water bottle with a cute cover?

But it's not gold or silver for that price is it? It's just gold or silver coloured and likely make their neck go green after a while.

@LadyGreyandlemoncurd I want that Caudalie set from ASOS. You’re really good at shopping for people! Thank you for sharing it!

I have often asked the person discreetly!
