We would like a new game for the Christmas season. Any recs? In the pay we have enjoyed Monopoly Deal, Exploding Kittens, Chameleon, Codebreaker, Herd Mentality etc. Teens are 14 and 16.

I play shithead quite a lot with my teen, it’s a great game (even though the name puts people off) and just requires a pack of cards

dogsandbunnies · 30/11/2025 20:54

Yes I love Shithead too!

Codenames - thinky word game in teams
colt express - really good fun
niagra - fun river boats
really nasty horse racing game - evil!
diamante - quick and simple

Sheep in disguise

Cards against humanity (family edition NOT the adult one!!). Uno!

rhubarbhandsoap · 30/11/2025 20:59

You might enjoy Carcassone and it’s a really good price on Amazon atm.

JudgeBread · 30/11/2025 21:02

Arkham Horror 😁 if you want something that will take up hours.

If you can get hold of one of the old Atmosfear games they're brilliant fun too. We had I think Khufu the mummy and the gate keeper.

hitmewithatottie · 30/11/2025 21:02

Articulate. Great fun

verycloakanddaggers · 30/11/2025 21:22

Has anyone tried Ransom Notes? Heavily advertised at the moment, I am quite tempted.

Splendor
Jaipur (2 players only)
Bullet heart or Bullet star (but it's quite complex)

Chickoletta · 30/11/2025 21:38

We love playing games together. Here are some favourites:
Pit - fast and furious card trading
Catan - strategy building board game
Risk - military strategy game
Goat Lords - fun card game
Oh My Pigeons - silly dice game

KoalaKoKo · 30/11/2025 21:42

Saboteur is probably my favourite at the moment.
I love Rummikub too.
Bears versus babies is pretty funny though might be too young - my nephew loves Hand to Hand Wombat and Throw Throw Burrito which is by the same crowd.
Star Realms is enjoyable though only two player.

AmyByTheTrain · 30/11/2025 21:57

Another vote for Catan

Yes, love it with adults , there are a few words you might possibly want to remove with some teens. Good for people who are confident enough to have a go and be creatively ridiculous.

firstofallimadelight · 30/11/2025 22:16

The mind
traitors
answergrams
taskmaster

Peabody25 · 30/11/2025 22:35

Herd mentality has a Christmas expansion! We also like various uno versions, happy families, various exploding kittens, quirkle, and beat that is fun but more physical than board or card.

AnythingGoesAllThroughTheNight · 30/11/2025 22:40

We play:
muffin time
flip 7
6 nimmt
crack list / splurt
hues and cues
grab the mic
shut the box
rummikub
think words
cards vs gravity
colour brain
namely

Taco cat goat cheese pizza is a real laugh. My 14 year olds love it

captainoctopus · 01/12/2025 00:07

Skyjo is easy to learn but good fun.
