We would like a new game for the Christmas season. Any recs? In the pay we have enjoyed Monopoly Deal, Exploding Kittens, Chameleon, Codebreaker, Herd Mentality etc. Teens are 14 and 16.

Seeing Pit mentioned takes me straight back to my childhood! I didn’t know it was still available to buy. I am hastily scurrying off to have a look for it 🙂.

Muffin time is a brilliant group one. My teens and their cousins love it

Has anyone tried Ransom Notes? Heavily advertised at the moment, I am quite tempted.

Yes, a friend brought it on a weekend away this year and it was fun. I’m going to buy it as I think my teens will like it. We just played it for fun rather than as a game with winners and losers and still really enjoyed it.
I’ve seen it advertised and it looks like it comes from the USA and there are taxes to pay so I’m afraid I may order from Amazon.

I play shithead quite a lot with my teen, it’s a great game (even though the name puts people off) and just requires a pack of cards

We play this too but call it ‘shi-theed’ in polite company.. my mother enjoys it and wanted to write down the rules so she asked how to spell ‘shi-theed’ so we spelt it out for her.. ‘S-H-I… T-H.. E-A-D’ and she diligently wrote it down.. a few seconds she started giggling when she realised what she’d written and what the game is actually called..!! 🤣

Machi Koro is great fun, easy to pick up and there’s a nice balance of luck and strategy.
Hive is a great two player game, if you get the pocket/travel size it comes with a bag and really nice tactile pieces. We like taking it out with us to cafes etc for a quick game. Definitely gets the brain working!
Cobra Paw is another fun tile game.
Saboteur, Citadels & The Mind are fun card based games, not very taxing.

Wilmots Warehouse. It's really fun and something a bit different. You work collaboratively and not against eachother. It's essentially a memory game where you all write a story together to remember where you placed various picture tiles. It's so easy to pick up and so much more entertaining than it sounds. We all laughed our heads off throughout.

Catan and Azul. Both brilliant games.
Sorry not sorry. Very challenging!
