I know it's July but I can always hear the family members "what does DH want for Christmas", "what do you want for Christmas"? I honest don't know for myself and my birthday is in December too so I don't know for my birthday either? Any ideas

The one time I responded to this question with something I actually wanted I still ended up with the obligatory toiletries I don’t bother answering any more.

For the 21st it would definitely be something to keep, jewellery, collectible something dd loves, autographed book, engraved item she’d love, ring, necklace, watch etc..

We (the adults) are doing something a bit different this year. We're buying our own present (budget up to you), wrapping it, putting it under the tree. It will be a surprise to everyone else what you got yourself.

I ask for top ups of lotions / potions I use, alongside upgrades of jumpers / socks / t-shirts, so I now have a small collection of cashmere jumpers, rather than lambswool for example. One year I asked for a small ultrasonic cleaner, brilliant for cleaning jewellery real and costume.

My parents paid for a holiday for me and my partner when I was 21. That was lovely and I’ll probably do something similar with my kids when they turn 21.

for gifts for me and DH we tend to buy stuff we use and replace regularly- undies, candles, books, hand cream etc. or if we need to purchase a bigger item I’ll often ‘save it’ for Xmas. This year I’m thinking of getting him a coffee subscription
