Going out to a local Chinese restaurant for lunch. Has been our tradition for years.

Although a chippy does sound very appealing!

CurlewKate · 23/12/2024 18:17

We have Madhur Jafrey's Prawn and tamarind curry with aromatic yellow rice. We' We've had it every Christmas Eve when we're home for Christmas for the last 35 years!

DappledThings · 23/12/2024 18:20

We have the Christmas ham on Christmas Eve. With the option of potatoes or dhal.

TooManyCupsAndMugs · 23/12/2024 18:22

Slow cooked teriyaki beef, rice, prawn crackers and spring rolls

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 23/12/2024 18:23

Lasagne, salad and garlic bread, going to make the lasagne tomorrow morning, as taking my dad to a hospital appointment in afternoon, then I can just bung it in oven in evening, while I sit and prepare the veg for Christmas Day.

FartingAgainstThunder · 23/12/2024 18:27

I always do a Christmas Eve buffet for around 4pm as this is requested every year by dcs. We watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and The Snowman .
This year we will have
Prawn Cocktail
Pate/Lurpak/Sourdough bread rolls
Cheese board/Crackers
Pork Pie
Sausage Rolls
Pickles
Nice cold meats selection
Pringles
Coca Cola (in glass bottles) for DD and milk for DS. Some bubbles for me and DH.
The Chocolate Log.

Crispy duck and pancakes.

I don't like prawns so your menu would be. No for me op!

Habibtihayatiii · 23/12/2024 18:45

Cheese fondue. Always cheese fondue on Christmas Eve no matter where in the world we're living or how warm it is! Grin

MrsSunshine2b · 23/12/2024 18:49

I'm making a fish pie. Quick and easy, leftovers easily frozen and all the bits go in the dishwasher ready for Christmas Day cooking.

Homemade fully loaded nachos, with dips and Home Alone.
Dunno when we started doing it (it's been at least 6yrs!), but it's become our Xmas Eve tradition.

This is usually our Xmas eve meal as well, but this year we're going out to the local Indian restaurant. I'm cooking for 9 on Xmas day and don't want to cook at all tomorrow.

We’re doing Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve this year then doing buffet bits on Christmas Day.

I often wonder why we don't do this! Christmas Day always feels like such a rush with everything to fit in. I'd far rather have a super leisurely Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and then all the nice (best bits!) leftovers and presents on Christmas Day, My family won't be swayed though

ChicosGirl · 23/12/2024 23:02

12 Course Polish Wigilia meal

hardtocare · 23/12/2024 23:07

Christmasisthebest · 23/12/2024 23:24

We are having warm camembert, fresh bread, pate and cold meats. With a bottle of Asti of course! So excited for tomorrow night!

BondStreet · 23/12/2024 23:26

Hot turkey rolls with stuffing and cranberry sauce with some ice-cold beers. It was my dad’s tradition and we’ve kept it going.

bradypuss · 23/12/2024 23:26

My fav meal ever is an 1980s style salad.
With chips!

Pistolpunk · 23/12/2024 23:27

Ham, chips, eggs, peas and pineapple rings. The rest of the ham will be carved up and sliced for xmas day..will be doing a lot of food prep tomorrow and want a simple no frills dinner.

CoastalCalm · 23/12/2024 23:27

Seafood platter with a couple of different dips and good bread and butter

GLC789 · 23/12/2024 23:29

Always a honey roast ham here for Christmas eve. Eaten warm for lunch with some salad/veg. Then cold cuts with pickles and cheeses in the evening.

It's a textbook cliche I know, but Ham is one of my favourite foods of all time and I'm happy to die on this hill 😂 x
