Putting ALL the gifts under the tree

Except actual stockings (not pillowcases or sacks but things shaped like a long sock stocking).

Do you do it if you have dc?

Mine have a stocking each and then gifts have always gone in sacks except for those from FC which go under the tree when he delivers them. Presents are generally not seen until Christmas morning except for those my mum brings with her that other family have given in advance. She gets a stocking and sack from us here and tells me off every Christmas for spoiling her 😁

The sacks always look great and exciting but sometimes I wonder what it would be like if everything was put under the tree and the dc and mum came down to the oft quoted huge pile on Christmas morning. Would it be chaos with everyone trying to read tags and pass gifts to who they are for? I'd have to actually use tags for a start instead of just putting one tag on the sack to say whose it is.

We aren't ones for change at all but I do wonder if it would be nice to see.

How do you do it in your family if you have dc young or old?

Like I said….you have HAVE heard of them….
…..regardless of whether you had them🙄

Nope, you seem very invested, I'm not in the UK if that matters

We have always done Christmas presents underneath the tree for our 5 children, with different wrapping paper and bows and named for each one. We don't put them underneath until they're all asleep on Christmas Eve though so it's more magical.

Stockings go on the fireplace but ours are pretty small and the most minimal, tiny things go in there - we prefer to wrap everything else!

All of the gifts are from us and then one big gift from Santa. Our older 4 don't believe anymore but our youngest is 6 and asked for pink ice skates so that is the present that will be from Santa. We just feel like it's more magical because in all the kids Xmas movies, it's always Santa making one special gift for each child. It's chaos but we love it

I have never heard of putting the presents in sacks

Santa brings the stocking presents for the DC which comprises 15/20 smaller items like books, pack of cards, shower gel, chocolate etc. That’s in a “stocking” ( actually a bag) at the end of their bed for when they wake up- I do wrap those presents but if I had my time again I wouldn’t have started! Everything else under the tree and I just tag everything and use different wrapping paper. Adult presents are v minimal in our family by mutual agreement- DH’s family don’t do them at all, my family don’t do anything big so most of what is under the tree is for the DC. This year dd is wrapping everything for everyone for cash which is bliss :-).

We put all presents under the tree except for the stockings, which hang on the mantelpiece.

When I was a child (1960s) we didn't have any presents under the tree or in stockings.
All presents were put in pillowcases and left at the bottom of our beds.

We used to get pillowcases at the end of our beds as kids and a few things under the tree downstairs.
DH grew up with stockings and Santa etc. he cares a lot more about traditional stuff than I do so I do it his way for DC. Stockings on fireplace, gifts under tree. DC passes them out, mostly for him anyway, we watch, collect wrapping paper and stick booze in our coffees 'cos it's Christmas and it's stupidly early. 😵

Ours go under the tree. Gifts to one another & for kids have different wrapping to make them easy to pick out

My kids had stockings for a few years (I never did growing up). We put gifts from people outside the family in them. No presents under the tree til Santa put them there Christmas Eve.
My kids figured Santa out at around 7/8. But they still insisted on no presents under the tree TIL Xmas morning. But I like the look of the presents do when mid teens I convinced them.
As for the chaos - you can control it. Either have an elf hand out the presents and you raid turns opening them so everyone can admire the gift, or if too young for that a grown up can be elf and hand presents out calmly.

It's lovely hearing all your traditions.
Presents are in sacks and overflowing. If I did do everything g under the tree it wouldn't be u til Christmas Eve night. I should have said that earlier. They'd be in the way and far too many of them with 3dc and my mum too. One year I told my parents I didn't want everything to be kept until Christmas Day before I even saw the paper on it. We had few gifts in our family anyway but I hated it. I'd seen them under the tree and part of the magic was lost. I was about 12. After that I asked for my pillowcase back and it was much better. I don't like to see the presents before Christmas morning. Not even once they are wrapped. No hints, no clues, nothing.
