Is anyone finished with present shopping?

No shame on anyone who isn't. After all I've only bought for DH, DD(22), her hamster and rats and our 2 house panther.
I am just happy to be finished especially as my arthritis can lead to periods of me being incapable of planning due to heavy painkillers. I can relax knowing at least Christmas is sorted. Except food but DH & DD are perfectly able of taking on this task entirely.
Just wondering if anyone finishes early.
Or finishes late. No judgement. Just curious.
Let's keep this kind. Let's stay respectful of others lifestyle and preferences.

Waiting on one present to come this week, will wrap it then we’re all done.

Deadringer · 04/12/2024 10:41

I have everything bought for my adult dc, i still need to shop for extended family though.

mondaytosunday · 04/12/2024 11:06

I have one present to buy each of my kids: football jersey for son and a projector fur my DD. Waiting in van fur her to choose one so may just have to risk it and buy it before the Black Friday sale end.
One sister, one niece - both live abroad so if I can do it in their country's Amazon so much the better.
I have to finish making my other sisters gift (crochet throw).
Write Xmas cards - ordered them late this year!
Worse is I have usually done my taxes well before now but haven't this year - I need to get that done before the holidays for sure.

BearSoFair · 04/12/2024 11:08

All bought here but haven't even started to think about wrapping yet...winds me right up (because I'm so bad at it) so I'll have to start soon and just do 1/2 a day 😂

Ihadenough22 · 04/12/2024 11:11

I have to collect a few things from one shop tomorrow. I am waiting on something from Amazon. Any remaining gifts will be got this weekend as the next few weeks are busy for me. I keep an eye out for gifts from October and buy stuff I know people would like at good value. I do this to keep costs down.

Fifthtimelucky · 04/12/2024 12:39

I'm not doing too badly. I have finished with present shopping apart from one thing that will be a stocking filler (a particular type of vegan chocolate that I cannot buy locally). Nothing is wrapped yet.

I have also bought all the Christmas food and drink that I can buy at this stage, and have ordered the turkey and ham from the butcher. I just now need to buy things like cream, fruit and vegetables (as well as crackers).

I have started on the Christmas cards - about half written so far - but haven't yet bought the stamps.

Where I am behind is on Christmas decorations. I haven't started yet. I don't need to buy anything except for a tree. I won't put it up for another 10 days or so, but I plan to buy at the weekend and keep it outside until I'm ready to bring it in.

didijustsaythatoutloud1 · 04/12/2024 12:55

Yes I'm completely finished now. Going to make some cards with the kids still but that's all. I'll be glad to get rid of all the boxes now 😂

MyOneAndOnlyPostForTheChristmasTreeThread · 04/12/2024 13:11

Yes, finished and wrapped in November. Always have done as i can't stand the rush , selling out of items etc.
I go a bit ott for the 4 dc inc adult dc. As when they mention things in the year I buy it. And when they write their lists I buy it. But save all year to do this.

All food except , veg and cheeses purchased.
Few drinks go pick up but will do that when I next shop

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 04/12/2024 22:50

Literally just ordered now as my credit card reset… so just gotta wait for it too arrive and then wrap and that’s me done and dusted, just on the lookout for prezzies for DS on the 5th Jan 🤪

ChewbaccasMrs · 04/12/2024 23:52

Nearly finished,we have quite a few to buy for at Christmas but all I need now is 3 presents for the Aunties and Uncles,3 bottles of something nice for 3 family members,a couple more stocking fillers and stuff for the family dogs and cats(not all ours)and 1 more thing for my MIL and I shall be done.

I should be able to get that all done with one trip into town so its not to bad,it's the wrapping I dread but I'm ill so that shall all be left to my DH.😁

Time40 · 04/12/2024 23:56

I haven't started to think about Christmas yet. We don't even know where we will be on Christmas Day, or what we will be doing.

GingersOwner26 · 05/12/2024 00:52

Just about there with the shopping - very often I'll see something and think "That would be a good present for So and so", and just buy it when I see it rather than risk it not being available nearer to Christmas. But when your family includes four nephews/nieces and an uncle who makes so many requests for Christmas presents that his nickname is Dudley Dursley, sometimes you just have to start early.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 05/12/2024 01:24

I’m all done. No effort required though as I just sit here with my iPad and credit card and do it all online.

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 05/12/2024 06:44

I was definitely finished then I passed JoJo and got DGC another outfit, saw a bargain or two on the other thread and couldn’t help myself 😇

DanielaDressen · 05/12/2024 06:47

I have no idea what to buy dh. Other than that I’m done.

mrspresents · 05/12/2024 06:54

I'm done except for dp's main present, but giving him an iou card and getting it in the sales- I'd be gutted to spend £500 only to find it half price when the sales start Boxing Day (or should that be Christmas Day now as they appear to be starting)

BatshitCrazyWoman · 05/12/2024 06:56

I'm finished, and cards have been posted. I'm normally organised like this, and this year I'm having chemo with all the side effects that involves, so I tried to be even more organised! Most done online as I'm not up to the shops at the moment.

Wrapping is my favourite thing, so I'll be doing that this weekend, and really enjoying it Smile

Bippityboppitybooo · 05/12/2024 08:14

@Tinaforshort We play to our strength too. I do gifts, he does food. My other half would get confused about which gifts are for who if left to wrap, despite the 3 years between our boy and girl!

I'm done I think, just waiting on a few last deliveries. Need to stop twitching!

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 05/12/2024 08:48

Just impulse bought a pink Jellycat bunny for DD, happened to be the one she kept asking for after her list was done. Done a lot of overtime this month so can justify an extra prezzie, Santa ain’t getting the credit for that one, I just spent 45 mins searching for one 😂

Funkyslippers · 05/12/2024 08:59

I think I'm done, don't have many people to buy for. Just need to buy my DB an online voucher. Haven't started wrapping yet though

Tinaforshort · 05/12/2024 09:37

@Bippityboppitybooo we have 2 girls who are (very nearly) 15 she’s a 28/12 baby so we have her birthday too and a 12yo who are complete polar opposites but I still ‘supervise’ the wrapping haha I think DH would rather I left him to it tbh. He also does the food shop and cooks (he cooks everyday because of my medical issues) to be fair he’s a much better cook than I ever was! I do the budget and write the lists. I’m very lucky that we’re a team.

Julia34 · 05/12/2024 09:41

I not even started yet😅 but this year I do online shopping for presents. I not like spending all day in crowded places

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 05/12/2024 09:45

I've finished, most of the wrapping is done too, 2 of the dc have birthdays next week, still need to wrap presents for those.

LigamentBandy · 05/12/2024 09:50

Me! Done by November but we don't do a massive Xmas , and I was expecting surgery so knew I had an extra deadline just remember I need to sew two gift bags

Me every year saying "I will buy Christmas presents month earlier " and always end up buying them in last days before Christmas 😅
