Where are we all putting our stockings Christmas Eve?

So far I've always done end of the bed, but I'm worried one of these years DS will wake up during the night and become concerned with Santas appearance 😂 Need more ideas!

Bedroom door handle for us

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 30/11/2024 15:22

They are all placed at the end of our bed and everyone piles in to open them in the morning. This has been the case for almost 25years 🎅🏻.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 30/11/2024 15:26

@90yomakeuproom I wish this worked! We have lots of family (all with stockings) staying over and I can't double/triple up on the handles.

@OatFlatWhiteForMePlease this is normally the case actually! May try this 👀

We’ve always put them downstairs by the fireplace, only because, once he was old enough to understand, our eldest was horrified at the thought of Santa coming into his room!

When I was a child my stocking was always left at the end of my bed and that feeling of waking up in the morning, sliding my foot down to the bottom of the bed and feeling something there is still vivid in my mind!

Lindtnotlint · 30/11/2024 15:27

Downstairs in living room - so everyone can have the moment of surprise together and also no stress for Santa during drop off/delivery.

IamChipmunk · 30/11/2024 15:28

Bedroom door handles and then everyone opens on our bed!

Same here - (22 years)!

At the end of our bed as Santa doesn't have time to be messing around Grin

namechangeGOT · 30/11/2024 15:32

On the settee. We don't have little stockings. Instead DS has a giant stocking about 6ft by 4ft that my mum made him before he was born (me and my sister had the same kind that she'd made when we were children) and ALL his presents go in there. All presents are from Father Christmas in our house though. Well, not anymore because he's 13 but we all still know they're from Father Christmas!

Trumpton · 30/11/2024 15:32

Best tip I ever had. Two stockings per child. Stuff one at your convenience. 2nd one goes wherever your tradition dictates. At midnight swap them! Saves so much last minute stocking stuffing and hissing at each other.

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 30/11/2024 15:32

Fireplace, Santa hasn’t got time to go into individual bedrooms (and DC found the concept a bit scary)

MajorCarolDanvers · 30/11/2024 15:33

Living room with other presents

Hahahah, I WISH I could do this but they're all hand-knitted ones, very quirky and individual ones 😂

On the bed. I've been testing the floorboards to work out which ones are creaky so I can dive in and swap them as stealthily as possible.

I want a 6ft stocking now 😆 that sounds amazing. We just have a few pairs of Christmasy men's socks and I make sure we use ones that have duplicates so I can swap them.

TheChosenTwo · 30/11/2024 15:49

By the fireplace for the last couple of year now they all know.
They also go to sleep later than me 😂
so it’s just so much easier.
When they still believed I put them on their ends of their beds or on the floor next to their beds (they have pillowcases they all decorated so never had a chance of duplicates and they are large so heavy and risked falling on my head when they younger and in bunks!).

mondaytosunday · 30/11/2024 16:03

When kids were very little it was on a door hook near the family room tree. Then graduated to smaller ones on the fireplace which really only fit a couple chocolates and a very few small things. Got rid of doing them as soon as I could - I never had them growing up myself and it was my MIL who made the original huge ones for them (though oddly very different in size). A few years ago I got beautiful crosstitch ones with the (four) pets names on - they hang off the mantle and are mainly decorative.

ElfDragon · 30/11/2024 16:12

Ours are always downstairs. My dc were really worried about the thought of someone coming into their room overnight when they were younger, so downstairs by the fireplace was the way to go.

we do t have a fireplace now, but put the stockings in the playroom, as it has a light tube direct from the roof which makes it easy for Father Christmas 😀😀 and obviously also makes it easy for me to fill stockings once everyone is upstairs and pretending to sleep (teens now, so I can shop them upstairs openly!)

namechangeGOT · 30/11/2024 16:25

@Thecomfortador

It's lovely and very special! My mum still has the ones she made us as babies!

I had a "bag" as a child, and it had to go on the landing as I hated the thought of santa coming into my bedroom 😂😂

I've been testing floorboards and planning my route, too! Grin

Bedroom door handle (the outside)

TeenToTwenties · 30/11/2024 18:59

Conservatory.
DD didn't like the idea of a stranger in the house.
Dh comes up to bed late so we said 'if the stocking is full when DH goes to bed he will put it by your bedroom door'.

WonderingWanda · 30/11/2024 19:01

Outside their rooms. Used to do inside but one year aged about 5 ds woke up at about 1.30 am, began to open presents and refused to go back to sleep.

RosieFlamingo · 30/11/2024 19:01

On the landing, outside of the bedroom doors.
