My DD is a 'young' 9 year old almost 10 in Jan. at the moment I have a million Barbie things she's suggested!! But do you have other ideas? Not skincare or anything like that, she doesn't have a clue.

DD was same age last year and got a Nintendo switch. Squishy maker was a big hit. Still uses it and wants refills this year. Slime is good. Sqishmallows are on this year's list.

VegTrug · 17/11/2024 11:21

@GlassHouseBlue My DD is also 10 in January and also young for her age. For the first time ever, I too am struggling with what to buy her. She loved Barbie until recently, she seems to have outgrown it.
The only thing she has asked for is more Our Generation stuff but she already has a room FULL of it and barely plays with any of it. So I'm stuck!
She's getting a laptop for her birthday so that leaves me with Christmas to magically come up with something 🙈

It's hard isn't it?!

Forgottenmyphone · 17/11/2024 11:46

Kumi Kreator
Lite Brite
Aquarellum
Reverse tie dye kit
Roller skates

StMarie4me · 17/11/2024 11:49

Please don't describe them as young for their age because they're not interested in skincare etc. They're actually age appropriate.

Books
Board games
Crafts
Squishmallows
Cutesy kawaii style things
Funko Pop! Figures
Monster High (there's a whole new range)
Rainbow high
Lego (there are sets for many collaborations such as Wicked etc)
Lanyards and badges
Cool bag

Have a great Christmas!

Ineedanewsofa · 17/11/2024 11:58

Lego
Tamagochi
Some sort of board game
Squishmallows
Claw clips (this is a trend at her school)
Schleich pony toys
She also wants an ipad which we will probably get as the one she currently uses is so old it can’t be updated and the screen is smashed!

FlatStanley50 · 17/11/2024 12:03

We’ve just had my 10 year old’s birthday. Also wouldn’t have the faintest idea about skincare. Biggest hits were our generation stuff (yes already has a room full of it too), iPad, yoto cards, kawaii rubber making kit, erasable drawing pad, puzzles, fidget toys, squishmallows. For Xmas she’s getting a new bike and I’m not sure what else.

Bugbeau · 17/11/2024 12:05

My nearly 9 year old wants a bitzee, also anything to do with Taylor swift or wicked, posca pens, clothing with stitch on!

SchoolQuery1981 · 17/11/2024 12:15

My almost 9 year old has a room full of toys, all the usual (Sylvanians, crafts, Barbies, Botley, Tamagochi, Bitzee, a huge box of soft toys) hundreds of books (and we buy her books regularly throughout the year), and we have a whole chest of games. Plus a bike, a scooter, and roller skates. I have no idea where it all came from 😁

So this year we're getting her a Nintendo Switch (plus Minecraft and Mario Cart), a fashionable hoodie, a squishmallow, and a popcorn machine. Very.com has the beat deals on Switches right now.

If your DD doesn't have one, a Bitzee provided loads of entertainment, and if she likes soft toys Squishmallows and Cutitos are very popular with DD.

SchoolQuery1981 · 17/11/2024 12:18

As a pp said, the new Monster High dolls are really cool looking. But we can't bring ourselves to add more dolls when she already has a village of them.

wafflesmgee · 17/11/2024 12:20

If she's crafty, Fimo is amazing. It's like playdoh only you bake it and it becomes hard forever. You can buy things like plain earring and brooches and they make them. My DD got it age 10 and still uses it now.
She's made Christmas presents for everyone out of it this year infact, mini cacti

wafflesmgee · 17/11/2024 12:22

If she likes books, a murder most unladylike series is amazing, like well written mallory towers murder mysteries, nothing too grim

StressedQueen · 17/11/2024 12:28

DD isn't 10 until August but although she has pretty much completely grown out of toys, she still isn't interested in skincare at all. Some things we are getting her:

Fairy lights for her room
Light up box with the letter of her name
A mini fridge
Jellycat
Jewellery set (hers is Disney themed)
Lip balm
First perfume (again, Disney themed)
Olivia Rodrigo merch
New swimming costume
Own ice skates
Polaroid camera

Some toys that we are still thinking of getting her is a Mermaidcorn as she loves fluffy things still and then a Sylvanian Rabbit set.

Tearsricochet · 17/11/2024 12:46

My 11 year old loves beads - she has clay bead sets and glass seed beads.

Also diamond art - my 11 and 14 year olds love these.

CarrotPencil · 17/11/2024 13:23

Lovely thread thank you! Never seen squishy maker before and perfect for DS1 (10 in May)

He’s not particularly young for his age but I want him to be younger - or as PP said, more age appropriate really! He’s such a gamer!

I’m getting him an instant print camera and a potato clock set and will be adding some things from this thread!!

Very hard. She'll inherits her sister's laptop next year I think and yes we have the Our generation and designafriend all over the house, I'm reluctant to get more Barbie but might have to as it's all we have in the list!

Could you post a link please? 🙏 Are they all held together with clips? 🤔

Hand held digital microscope 500X Handheld Digital Kids Microscope, 2MP Mini Pocket Rechargeable Microscope, 2.0" Portable Handheld Magnifying Glass Microscopy, Educational Science Kit Toys Science Gadget Christmas Birthday Gifts amzn.eu/d/f6A6aiV

I literally want one of these for myself so bad

emsmum79 · 17/11/2024 22:05

Switch games
Lego
Monster High doll
Disney ILY doll
Pretty much anything Stitch related
Books
Microscope

She definitely still loves toys and whilst she has a town of dolls we want to encourage her being a kid as long as she is. Plus, I love playing them too!

coxesorangepippin · 17/11/2024 22:09

Can someone link to a good squishy maker please

My DD would love one!

User12385359 · 17/11/2024 22:10

My DD is almost ten and has asked for a Furby, Instax camera, squishmallows, a pair of crocs with some of the charms for them, Peachybbies slime and roller blades.

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/11/2024 22:10

What do you mean by “she doesn’t have a clue”?
