I know you say no food or drink but what about a costa/starbucks voucher?

CuteCillian · 22/10/2024 16:00

I was going to say a book voucher- there are usually some paperbacks in WH Smith for £4.99

Anotherloverholeinyohead · 22/10/2024 16:00

The nearest coffee chain shop is around 8 miles from here sadly

£5 secret Santa gift - no food or drink

What a good idea having a small limit. You don’t mind if you spend £5 and your gift is not to your taste. Whereas £20 you think why did I bother. I would say hand cream a nice notebook or a pen. Not a scratch card because the likelihood is that it won’t win and then the receiver has nothing.

Nothing smelly. Many people have problems with fragrance and likes and dislikes are highly personal.

i like stationary for a generic gift. Fun pens, note cards, washi tape, stickers, little
gadgets like cute paper clips, magnetic book marks.

or small practical items. A pair of folding scissors, a tiny screw driver that is perfect for changing batteries, a tool that removes labels from new purchases. Those little gadgets that you have discovered for yourself over the years that work great and you always use again and again.

they don’t last forever, but I am loving the little box cutters that look like clouds right now. They open boxes well and even my teen with dyspraxia and a knife phobia is comfortable using them.

A Christmas decoration?

Cambridge Imprint do lovely notebooks for 4.90 - https://www.cambridgeimprint.co.uk/product-category/notebooks-and-albums/pocket-notebooks/

I love their paper and stationary is always a great gift IMO.

Would LOVE to get one of these rather than a voucher or scratchcard! They’re lovely.

A SS with such a small budget is literally a waste of money. Nobody is going to be particularly grateful or overjoyed with something you can get for a fiver and most of it will remain unused or go to landfill.

You don’t need to be overjoyed by Secret Santa, most people do have a life!

We have done £5 Secret Santa for years and people have had really thoughtful things, we do a simple likes/dislikes list and you know who you are buying for so it’s possible to
get something that the person will appreciate. Especially with some savvy shopping.

I’m over 30 and I hate hand cream. Nasty greasy stuff. I think there’s a tube that’s been in a drawer in my house for at least 10 years.

No need to be bitchy. People "with a life" can want to buy good presents that will be appreciated and used.
