Nothing and I still owe DN a birthday present and have 3 birthdays coming up in November!! I'm seriously lacking in ideas although thankfully the teens I buy for will probably want money or vouchers. I feel like we need to have a family conversation and just agree that the adults should stop buying for each other just for the sake of it.

Pootles34 · 05/11/2024 11:11

Particularly pleased with a present for my mum - 'Rice's church primer', it's a beautifully illustrated guide to church architecture by Matthew Rice. Bit niche, but if anyone else has church visiting family members it might be useful!

CrystalTaliefero · 05/11/2024 11:56

@CoffeeChocolateWine I HAD to Google the bee reviver keyring, instantly bought for OH! What an amazing idea, he will love it!

I haven't bought much so far as we went on holiday rather than starting the Christmas shopping. A decision I am not exactly regretting, but I do feel a bit nervy now!

I have ordered (in addition to the bee keyring) blanket hoodies for DS 9 and 12, and a t-shirt for DS 20. I usually buy socks and pants for them all, plus OH, but think it might be weird to for eldest DS now... don't know. Ordered socks for them all though, and was chuffed because I found OH the expensive M&S Autograph boxers he likes on vinted brand new still in packaging so that's saved me some money!

Trying to keep it low key this year as we want to go abroad for the first time next year.

Both my DD’s are older teens…

Dd1
A hoodie from BBC earth
some oddballs boxer shorts
Also making her a food hamper (to take back to uni)
A jellycat for her collection.

Dd2 (has SEN’s so not your normal teen things)
A wooden jigsaw puzzle which cost £50 but I know she will love it
A CD player as she doesn’t use a phone or download music.
A CD and T-shirt from her favourite singer.
I will get her a few books and some stocking fillers.

I haven’t really bought for anyone else yet 😬

APurpleSquirrel · 05/11/2024 16:33

I've now bought the tickets to see The Book of Mormon for DH - cheaper than I was expecting thankfully. Also got him two Star Wars T-shirts.

For DS I've now bought him some Bakugans from The Entertainer (all heavily discounted).

For DD I've got her some bits for her advent calendar; a Wednesday notebook; some HP Luna themed smellies in Boots & several Jane Austen novels in nice covers from the reduced section of Home Sense.

Next to get is DS's Pokemon Advent Calender & a Taylor Swift guitar book for DD.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 05/11/2024 17:09

@CrystalTaliefero, I'm pleased it was helpful! I saw it too and thought it was ideal for my nature-loving daughter! Hope it's a hit with your DH!

vegaspot · 05/11/2024 17:54

Absolutely nothing yet!
One son in Oz so probably money!About £150
Lion King tickets for my daughter, SiL and grandchild =about £350.
Have bought some M&S biscuits and have decided to finally get a decent false Christmas tree..Quite like the M&S one for £180 ...looks very real and will save money long term .Usually spend about £80 on a real tree every year

APurpleSquirrel · 05/11/2024 17:57

@OnionBag tbh I'm drawing a blank!
I've been round Boots, Superdrug, TK Maxx & looked online & it seems they just don't do them anymore!
Not the ones I remember which had miniature perfumes like Cool Water, Anais Anais, DKNY etc.
I have to admit I haven't bought them for years, but it now seems to be only with a specific range/brand - so I've seen ones for Versace, Lancôme, Moschino & Ghost etc but it's only within those brands. Such a shame as it was great trying different perfumes without spending a small fortune on one you then don't like.
I'll probably go for one of the So...! Selections as DD is 10 & just likes the body sprays mostly, but obviously will need to trawl round the perfume department & get her try loads.

I’ve bought some Paco Rabanne Phantom and the new CoD for one ds and a retro Transformers figure for his stocking so far. I know he also wants YSL Myself and probably some clothes so will slowly get started . I’m usually almost finished by now but am trying to be more sensible this year. Bearing in mind I then spent the morning on EBay buying miniature fragrances and old ds games to home make him an advent calendar so now I’m both insensible and behind. Grin

Does it matter? I think people (except you perhaps) understand what the op means.

It does matter. How the hell can someone not know the difference between bring/brought/brought and buy/bought/bought? English is not even my first language, but of course it matters. It means something completely different.

You’re being pedantic and it isn’t in keeping with the essence of this thread.

I completely agree. I think most people can understand what the OP means.
