BOUGHT! What's everyone BOUGHT so far 🙄

Just as well I ain’t dyslexic, the amount of grammar police on here. I think it’s pretty obvious what I meant 🫠

Very little so far. Dc1 isn't sure what he wants and dc2 wants the entirety of the Smyths catalogue.

I have bought some christmas decorations for dc2's dolls house (lights, candles, a wreath etc).
A book on diving the Britannic for dc1.
A wooden Christmas baking set for my Goddaughter's little girl

dd was the same when she was younger, literally wanted everything, although she’s still pretty easy, the stuffs just more expensive 🫣 DS literally asked for an Apple Watch as his is old and apparently not updateable anymore. And a minecraft vinyl… I’ve been clutching at straws for him for years.

Nothing yet but did book bluestone in wales for just after Boxing Day, my kids are 9 & 12 and have so much stuff, I'll buy a main present and do a stocking but really trying to stop the merry go round of masses of gifts (not sure it'll happen though)!

Emilyjayne9421 · 19/10/2024 23:19

DS13
new iPhone
uno extreme
He will also get a case for his phone and some Lego. Not much else because the phone cost a lot. Maybe some smellies.

DD8
Rainbow high doll
Barbie duvet cover
karaoke machine
pamper set
I have a few more ideas for her. Her and her brother (6) are likely getting a switch to share as a main gift

DS6
minecraft Lego
telescope
moon toy (he loves all things space)
space poster for his room
Slime (I will definitely regret this)

sticklebricks for 2 year old nephew

nothing for DH yet but I’m planning on booking a break away for us alone and giving him the tickets at Christmas

Applemayjune · 19/10/2024 23:21

It's only October

You haven't. Not so easy is it?

The PP made one error, likely failure to proofread. OP made their error 5 times, very likely a fundamental lack of knowledge of the difference between brought and bought. The errors are not the same.

A crinkly toy for my mums cat.
Priorities you know......🐱

We bought one of those flippy fish toys for our cats , they hated it !

DH took the battery out and filled it with catnip so they do kick it about now

Hmm yeah , you're right . It's October .

And ?

And ?

It's way too early to be buying stuff for Christmas.

Christmas is two months away.

Its not even Halloween yet!

Ohjustalittle · 20/10/2024 00:04

Sod all right now. Never have until the 1st week of December.

Applemayjune · 20/10/2024 00:09

I never buy anything till December either.

It would be like buying stuff for Easter in January.

Needmorelego · 20/10/2024 00:16

@70isaLimitNotaTarget the cat tends to get a bit over excited by too much catnip (aka completely off her face) so I've gone for a crinkly one instead.
It was only £1 so if she hates it then no big loss 😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/10/2024 00:19

In answer to your OP @Samandytimlucypeterolivia

DS (25 in December ) gives me no clues , he's not wild about Christmas , he'll eat a huge roast dinner and that;s it .
He requests money not "things" which is fine , no point wasting money or time buying him something he won;t use .

I do a Dec 1st Box ( shoot me) for DS and DD (22)

I;ve already bought :
pyjamas, loungwear, underwear , toiletries
Need to add selection boxes and chocolate coins.
No Advent Calendars this year , their request.

DD, DH and I are going on a Christmas Market trip so we can have all the decoration and festive trappings then a low key few days over Christmas which I think will be nice . Still the build up but not the "Well was that it"? feeling you get .

DD List-
She has a Dec1st Box with hair and Beauty products to use through December in the lead up.
Hair -dry shampoo and heat protector
Nail polishes (Nails Inc and two new brands )
Skin care (ranges from Aldi to Mario Badescu)
Showergel
Mascara
Eyelash serum ( she got this early as it is something she uses regularly and she ran out )

Presents-
Diamond earrings 9ct gold (bought these a few weeks back)
Stacking rings
Fenty lipgloss
Book (she chose)

There's more but I'd need to check .
Mustn't get The Twitch

Our male cat loves his light pen thing , (red dot ) he chases it round . When he wants to play he sits like Egyptian God Cat Bast and stares at DH "Dad , Dad play the light , play the light "

Female cat is singularly unimpressed Xmas Grin

Applemayjune · 20/10/2024 00:26

Do people really buy stuff for Christmas, in October?

Needmorelego · 20/10/2024 00:34

@Applemayjune The shops have starting selling the Christmas stock and I find if you don't buy something when you see it the shops often sell out really quickly.
So yes - October is a good time to start.

Applemayjune · 20/10/2024 00:36

I guess it depends how religious you are too.

I was brought up as a christian, but i'm not very religious at all, so I don't really celebrate Jesus's birthday. It's just another day. I just go through the family dinner because other people like it

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/10/2024 00:42

Applemayjune · 20/10/2024 00:26

Do people really buy stuff for Christmas, in October?

I don;t want to be in the shops in December if I can help it .
Yes I can buy online but I like to look in shops IRL.

The queues , people moaning about how busy the shops are , trying to juggle a couple of bags and a baskets and keep my handbag safe , going back to my car to put something in the boot someone will ask if I;m going ..one bloke got really annoyed that I wasn;t freeing up my space for him Hmm

So makes more sense to buy in October /November

Then it leaves December to do nice trips , plan things , and if one of us has flu , we;re organised ,

Normallynumb · 20/10/2024 00:44

Just my reasons for starting in October..
I am on fixed low income so I spread the cost( literally as I mostly use PayPal x3)
Its lovely to read about presents for DC as mine are all adults and have similar tastes
DS1 M&S dressing gown and oral b io toothbrush( £60 not £400!)
DS2 Columbia Cord Shirt and Carhartt T shirt
DS3 Columbia checked shirt and black cargo pants

Wooden puzzle for the baby next door
Digital money counting jar for my friends little boy
Science set for my friends daughter

DS GF A Dune handbag it was reduced from £100 to £50, pyjama's, nail varnish.

Nothing for DH and DS yet, we do not have any small children in our family at all currently which I miss greatly. I used to make boxes with lots of small gifts in for my nieces when they were little, I miss that. I buy selection boxes for the children along the road as well.
