Selection Boxes

Hi guys I hoping someone could help, the shrinkflation has hit the selection boxes!! The little cadburys ones are now £1.65 and the slightly bigger ones are £3.29, but there is nothing in them now only 5 mini bars and 1 mini bag. I need to buy 7 of them, anyone suggest a good alternative for maximum of £3 per box (even if it's a DIY) just not willing to pay £3.29 for the little rubbish in them!

Look in Pinterest to find festive ways to wrap up a few bars of chocolate...

CraftyGin · 06/09/2024 13:57

Assemble your own!

gardenmusic · 06/09/2024 13:59

There is a lovely sweetie sleigh on the stocking thread, if you can find a way to 'box' it.

Purplebunnie · 06/09/2024 14:07

I ordered from Amazon last year as they had to be posted. We have Prime and got them delivered to 1 address. They had some good offers if you ordered more than 1 of a type

Although I like the idea of the sleigh

I do this , choose the recipients favourite bars , wrap and tie them in velvet ribbon and then attach something decorative , either berry sprig , holly or last years festive Lego character tags .

Leave it a bit….Tesco always do a good reduction on price for Cadbury ones around October

This !

There will be offers in the big supermarkets later.

Then you hide them somewhere cool and dry and away from prying eyes and over eager little hands

I'm not artistic at all, and this might look shit in reality, but in my head it looks nice - what about saving up big jars (like Dolmio ones for example), putting Christmas wrap toppers over the lids (like you get on traditional jam jars) and filling with the bars of your choice purchased from Poundland - possibly splitting multipacks for extra cheapness and so on. Few chocolate coins in there too. Could look quite artizan?

I think I get what you are saying, and I like the idea! BUT what are the big Dolmio jars? I can only think of the salsa dip ones, which wouldn't fit an ordinary sized chocolate bar?

I think your thinking is Dorito not dolmio?

This is what I'm doing for all DSs little friends! Got given one by a colleague a few years back and been obsessed ever since. Need to find a sturdier way of boxing them up though 😂

That is exactly what I was thinking! I should put my brain in gear before typing! Thank you.

Hi, I know you said they were from last year but can you give me further info on the festive Lego character tags please? most of my family are massive lego fans.

Thanks

Sorry, only just saw the replies - leay, Dolmio pasta sauce was what I was thinking (or any kind of large sauce jars - curry sauce, things like that) - I reckon they would be tall and large enough to contain about 5 regular size chocolate bars (Crunchies and Mars and standard stuff like that) plus you could pop some smaller sweets in too if you wanted, then with a bit of wrap round the lid, bit of ribbon, might look ok. And the fact the packing is recycled is a plus!

JamMakingWannaBe · 11/09/2024 22:12

Does it need to be an actual selection box? B&M have a range of Xmas cookies, Xmas "Easter egg" style hollow chocolate, hot chocolate stirrers ... etc.

Last year Iceland had Thornton chocolate elves for £2.

Yes, assemble your own is the way to go, we stopped buying selection boxes years ago as no one ever ate the Topic bar or the finger of fudge. Cellophane bags and ribbon to tie.

These look perfect - thanks😊

PumpkinSpicedTea · 07/10/2024 14:22

Bumping this thread as lost it and am making notes for using some of your ideas!

I've been checking prices of multi packs of chocolate bars in supermarkets, B&M etc.
