I like to be super organised for Christmas - I actually hate shopping so like to get it all done early so I can enjoy December rather than stressing re presents and food. I live by my many lists to ensure I have no last minute panics.
So far I've bought:
DH - a shirt. Hopefully he'll like it but it's very ...different!
DS1 football shirt of his team, a northern light led lamp
DS2 football shirt (same team as DS1) and PJs.
DMiL - bracelet
Still got away to go. Aiming to be completed by early Nov.

I’ve found my people!!
I only buy for my own kids so it’s quite easy…
Tablets for the two youngest
stocking fillers/cheap filler gifts for all 3

Doing park Christmas savings for the teen so I can buy what he wants last minute.

Few decorations while they were in the sales too as I knew I was doing a Disney theme this year.

I'm well on probably half way there, I always start on 26th Dec in sales getting little stocking fillers etc. Then, I just buy when I see things throughout the year. I try to buy something each month this helps me budget.

Just an Apple Watch for DS16 present wise, dd 11 I’ve brought nothing for yet as her birthday is in 3 weeks so will wait until after to see what she gets or doesn’t get. She’s asked for a a new Nintendo switch, she has the lite (which is a few years old now, but wants the one that connects to Tv, which I can get from work with discount so I’m waiting for good deals on bundles.
I did just purchase the lynx advent calendar for DS and I’ve also brought Xmas pjs for dd, which I got on sale months ago.

God almighty, nothing. It's the summer holidays.

What happens if you buy something now and it doesn't fit?? You won't be able to return anything!!

I’ve bought tickets for 13 of us to go see Chitty Chitty Bang Band The Musical in December. That’s my present to all of them. Job done 😁 (tho I’m sure there may be some stocking fillers!!)

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 21/08/2024 14:09

DD1 - multiple Funko Pops, Magic Cards, metal poster/sign of favourite character
DD2 - 2 x Funko Pops, 2 demon slayer figures, 2 times plus toys & game related to her favourite animal, tickets to Six and hotel booked for her and 1 parent, toy animals, box of novelty crackers.
DD3 - Magic Mixies Pixlings, fluffy maremaid tail blanket, Princess funko pop, small polly pockets for stocking fillers.

MIL - winter gloves, gardening gloves
FIL - rare book
All nieces and nephews Cash for the teens already put in cards, wooden jigsaws for little ones.

I have multiple items sitting in baskets which I will filter through.

I've been haunting the 'Mumsnet Recommends' bit, I eagerly jump on there to see what everyone is liking and if there are any ideas. I've got one more family birthday in early September, and then four family birthdays in December (one four days before Christmas!) so I'm trying to get those covered first.

So far I've got two beauty boxes to split between daughters and DILs, some books and bits for DD3 who has been the easy one this year, a few bits for my friend who always makes me a Christmas stocking, and some things I brought back from our big family holiday which are going to be presents for everyone as a reminder (I've had some photos printed and framed too).

I am in need of more inspiration though. I've seen a few nice things but they all would be great for DD3, and she's just about sorted! I need stuff for the others (especially the blokes!)

Nevertooearlyforsanta · 21/08/2024 18:17

I don’t think there is anything wrong in shopping whenever you want. I buy throughout the year. I actually start in the January sales. I’ve got quite a lot already. Nothing wrong with being organised and picking up bargains!

purplehair1 · 21/08/2024 20:11

Nope. Far too early. Plus I’m a bit superstitious that if I buy a present for someone this early they might die before Xmas. Anyone else have that fear?

WTF? No, that has never occurred to me! Shock

I have to admit I do feel like that with my gran. She has a birthday not long before Christmas then obviously Christmas but she will be 98 on her birthday so I do feel like it's tempting fate to buy anything yet.
Plus she is impossible to buy for so I have no idea!

PlantDoctor · 21/08/2024 20:31

I got DD a hand-held mini-scope. Like a kid version of a microscope. I tested it quickly and it's surprisingly good! You can see all the differently coloured dots of ink making up coloured text! I will enjoy helping her with it at Christmas! 😀

I also got a few little stocking fillers things the other day, like some reindeer face masks and pompom pens at the Range.

LaPalmaLlama · 21/08/2024 20:40

None because I have teens and what they want now will be totally different to what they want in 4 months time. I basically tell them to write a list and give it to me mid November and then no changes because Nike/GHD/ Jeff Bezos Santa has lead times. Dh and I are getting each other a sofa 🤣.

This is me! I'm a church musician, so when I had small children, I aimed to have Christmas sorted by 30 November (including cards, stamped and ready to post on 1 December).

Now that I am retired, I still get twitchy in November and need to have everything done before the end of the month. I start the shopping in January sales (cards, wrapping paper, gift bags) and add to the box during the year. I don't necessarily buy with people in mind either, just see things that would make good presents. Holidays are great for shopping, especially the souvenir shops I would not usually enter. Some sell Christmas cards all year too.

DanceMumTaxi · 21/08/2024 20:44

Absolutely none at all. Haven’t even thought about yet - it’s only August. Got numerous birthdays to think about before Christmas.

roshi42 · 21/08/2024 20:59

I just bought my cats' stocking filler bits in Sainsbury's today 😂 That's it!

nicky2512 · 21/08/2024 21:16

@Aproductofmyera80s Hope you don’t mind me asking but where did you get the lynx calendar?

No , but I’m sure it will be something my DS would try.

” Muvver i love you but I’m not buying your present till Boxing Day in case you croak before Christmas. And the sales will be on, obvs”

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 21/08/2024 22:39

For everyone saying it's too early - I've got five kids, they all have partners, I also have a brother and a very good friend to buy for. I don't earn so much that all the presents could possibly come out of one or even two months' wages! So of course I start now, that way I can buy a present or two every month and not be financially constrained close to Christmas.

Aproductofmyera80s · 21/08/2024 22:48

DS 16 vinyl that I ordered him just arrived aswell. So for once I’m in front for DS and behind with dd 😂
