I like to be super organised for Christmas - I actually hate shopping so like to get it all done early so I can enjoy December rather than stressing re presents and food. I live by my many lists to ensure I have no last minute panics.
So far I've bought:
DH - a shirt. Hopefully he'll like it but it's very ...different!
DS1 football shirt of his team, a northern light led lamp
DS2 football shirt (same team as DS1) and PJs.
DMiL - bracelet
Still got away to go. Aiming to be completed by early Nov.

I have 2 books for my DD (nearly 3 at Xmas) advent calendar- both 2nd hand.

Round about half, maybe slightly more of her stocking: swimming costume, socks, colouring book, felt tips, activity book, 2 story books plus one of those take apart/screw together cars which I got 2nd hand in Jan.

Half her main presents- kinetic sand, a book and see and spell puzzle. Going to get magnatiles type thing, some clothes and 1 other thing.

Other than that I only have the dogs present!

shellyleppard · 15/08/2024 13:45

@Fannyfiggs I'm still wrapping stuff up on Christmas eve 😂😂😂 it sits in the wardrobe for ages then I start panic wrapping 😂😂

Flubadubba · 15/08/2024 15:10

Only have DH, DD's "main" gift to buy (not sure what it will be) and any additional random bargains that I want to add. Already did both sets of parents, all nieces and nephews (I have a lot), neighbours on both sides and various other relatives.

I may have also got presents for neces ans nephews birthdays to May next year too...

sunshineandrain82 · 15/08/2024 20:47

I'm not very well organised this year. Unexpected Last minute house move put everything on hold.

But so far I have
Dd1:
apple pen
Skateboard
Pandora charm
Dd2:
Pandora charm
Dd3:
Play mobil stables
Playmobil pool
Make up set
Ds:
Skateboard
Tracksuit
Tracksuit
Battle blade set.

I've got all 4 birthdays around Christmas as well. So I'm silently panicking this year.

I haven’t bought anything yet but this week have made a serious start on my lists. I have ideas now for everybody I buy for and will now keep an eye out for deals for the things on the list.

Magnatiles are such a good shout - my 6yo still plays with his

Think I’m about done on stocking fillers, after following the excellent Adult Stocking Fillers thread for months.

Main gifts, the family won’t even entertain discussing their wishes this early 😬 I’ve picked up extra bits to bulk up under the tree like non-Christmas PJs/towel sets/ book sets from the works but will have to wait out for ‘suggestions’. One thing I do need to find is a £400 odd Lego set for DF 🫣 he never wants anything special and this is a bit of a one off, hoping it gets a decent discount around Black Friday though.

StellaCruella · 18/08/2024 10:55

Just had a good idea for DC stockings - those bracelets where you can track a real whale shark.

GiantRoadPuzzle · 18/08/2024 11:17

As well as Christmas, I have 4 immediate family birthdays in the month leading up to Christmas, including my son. Plus I’m adding to the fun this year by having a November baby, so really need to get organised.

So far I’ve bought:

Playmobil Zoo for niece
Hot Wheels garage, Lego box and wooden crane for son
Couple of Paw Patrol stocking fillers for son
Music roller for baby (to stop son asking why baby isn’t getting anything)

Ive got a lot of ideas for family etc so planning to get bulk of stuff ordered and wrapped by November. Luckily it’s only parents, husband and nephew to get for now.

Ugh I hate having to buy gifts every year , it's so much hassle 😫 But it's good to get organised early. My problem is storing them, where do you put them? Attic? My kids find all the hiding places!

I have large black boxes in the loft. (Black so can't see what's in them) If the kids find them then they are deliberately looking for them.

I have some opaque plastic boxes in the loft for present storage.

Cherryrainbow · 18/08/2024 19:49

I'm a 'buy throughout the year' kinda gal, also my kids have sept and oct birthdays so I usually look at stuff and go oh ok that can go towards Xmas instead lol.

So far for little girl (4):
fuzzikins sets from toys for a pound
2 x rainbow high junior dolls from Tesco clearance
Some sticker dress up doll books from homebargains

For boy (11)
Autograph of Rupert grint aka ron weasley (from comic con)

Parker231 · 18/08/2024 19:51

DH and I spend an hour online in early December and order everything for both sides of the family. Easy stress free

Glowingreviews · 18/08/2024 19:53

So far I’ve bought for step son’s girlfriend, best friend, another good friend. We don’t have many to buy for.

BCBird · 18/08/2024 19:55

NONE. That's what December is for🙄

thursdaymurderclub · 18/08/2024 19:57

i am a very big 'christmas' person, even August is a wee bit early for me BUT and i am embarrassed to say, i saw somethig in ALDI the other day which would be perfect for DGC so i popped them in my trolley..

we are not big present buyers, and prefer spending time with family over gifts, so we normally do a big family secret santa, set a budget of about £10 and exchange our SS gifts when we are all together.

housethatbuiltme · 18/08/2024 20:29

I'm really behind this year, I have half of the santa sack stuff but not much else.

Only got DS1 a funko pop, DS2 a minecraft sword and DD some pens so far... really need to pull my finger out when I get paid next week.

Why are you in the Christmas forum then if you think Christmas can't be sorted before December?

Also how privileged you must be to not have to save, plan and rely on sales. Good for you.

SomeFiggyPudding · 18/08/2024 20:37

I’ve started in earnest this week. Got my middle daughter some hair straighteners which we were on offer, along with some clips. Today I’ve ordered my youngest lots of craft stuff from The Works as that’s pretty much all she wants!
In previous years I feel there have been more bargains earlier in the year so I’m nowhere near as organised as this time last year. But I know I’ll get there 🎄

Probably just responding to the thread because it was in Active Conversations. I rarely go directly to a specific forum on MN tbh.

MegaClutterSlut · 19/08/2024 18:14

I have quite a few presents but not as many as I normally have by now. Bought dds bf a star wars pjs set and dressing gown which were half price
Dcs mainly stocking presents so far
Nothing for my 7 DNs yet though
Nearly bought all of dhs
About half of inlaws

YorkieTheRabbit · 19/08/2024 22:09

I’ve just ordered my first two presents, Maileg mice. Both are for adults which probably seems odd but it’s the characters of the mice that will mean something to the recipients.

Powderblue1 · 19/08/2024 23:08

I've got quite a few including the home alone Lego house for my DS. I'm hoping to buy the light set to go with it too. Got quite a few more Lego sets too, okay doh for my youngest and some duplo. A few stocking bits too that I've picked up.

Thankfully as a family we've decided to only buy for the kids in our families so that save a lot of stress, money and unwanted toiletry sets and DH and I don't buy for one another anymore.

When we bought our new bed a couple
Of years ago I bought one that's lifts up with storage underneath and most of the gifts go under there (unless they're big and they get chucked in the attic with sheets over). The best thing is the kids don't know the mattress lifts so they'll never find them!
