Do you still have Christmas food left?

We still have:
One panettone
One stollen
One box of stollen bites
Half a box of a cheese board
Two boxes of crackers
Three boxes of biscuits
Four bottles of mulled wine

I am sick to the back teeth of all this. We ended up with far too much food because of the generosity of our guests who couldn't help but bring 2+ things despite being told that it was all in hand 😭

A couple of (unopened) boxes of biscuits for cheese, these will be opened in a few weeks when we are over the feeling of "too much cheese" (there is no such thing as "too much cheese"!).

Large box in the freezer full of Christmas dinner.
Always make waayyy too much as that way we can have B&S. One box is refrigerated for B&S over Christmas, the other box is frozen so it can be enjoyed later in January.

Sorry what's B&S?

Bubble and Squeak presumably.

aimingforthesky · 09/01/2024 16:21

I had the last of the brandy butter on my porridge this morning! Surprisingly good.

stayathomer · 09/01/2024 16:22

Yes, which is great as January is a huge birthday month here - February is our month of misery😅😅😅

Bubble and Squeak presumably.

Spot on......... Food of the gods when fried really well and is catching around the edges! For luxury, drop and egg (or two) into the mix. 😁

We have a couple of tubs of Quality Street or Roses, can't remember which one, quite a bit of nice chocolate my husband was given for Christmas, a Toblerone, some M&S florentines, 2 boxes of crackers, one box of mince pies, 3/4 Christmas cake, satsumas and two tubs of honey roasted peanuts.

I gave some smoked salmon and some Camembert to the kids to take home with them but most of the fresh stuff and party food we bought has been eaten. We had a houseful of young people on Boxing Day which did the trick nicely 😂. I'll donate the tubs of chocolates to a food bank as they were given to us but we don't really eat them.

Curiously we have almost exactly the same left over as you, but I'm quite pleased about it 😆

Yes. I bought far too much food and it’s something I won’t be doing next year! However, the food we have left will keep for ages so nothing will be wasted and hopefully will allow for some cheaper shops over January. We still have a tub of chocs, some other choc, Pringles, Christmas cake and a couple of boxes of mince pies.

AdoraBell · 09/01/2024 17:16

One Stollen
Two Christmas puddings
Three packets of mince pies
Two boxes of chocolate biscuits
Four boxes of chocolates

All out of bounds because I need to lose the Christmas weight to attend a wedding in February. Bought a dress in a sale and can’t afford to buy another if it doesn’t fit properly.

Blanketpolicy · 09/01/2024 17:18

Couple of boxes of chocolate (celebrations, M&S Swiss choc)
Big 850g bar of Cadbury choc
Tin of M&S shortbread
Pringles and Doritos
Peanuts
Madeira cake
Wine and various spirits (never go off!)
1/3 of a 1L bottle of Baileys, will be fine until next year, but since it is open might as well...............................

Just a lot of chocolate. I'm not a big fan. Guests always seem to bring it.
DH hardly touches it. Even the one teen still at home isn't that bothered.
We have:
3 enormous toblerones 1 dark, 1 white 1 milk
2 large boxes of Ferraro Rocher
2 boxes of after eights
2 unopened tins of quality street
1 1/2 eaten box of quality street (grim things)
Some marzipan fruits
A couple of Lindt reindeer
A huge mixed box of Hotel Chocolate in a Christmas wreath thing.
Large bar of dairy milk
Box of chocolate biscuits and a bag of those German Leubeken (sp) things with a chocolate coating.
I am going to take the lot (bar the opened quality street) to our local food bank.

They are in for a treat!

Catsknowbest · 09/01/2024 17:20

Yep lol. A pannetone, box mince pies, gammon joint, box toffifee, fruit cake and waaay too many pickles 😅

TheBeesKnee · 09/01/2024 17:20

I don't mind the biscuits, cheese and crackers but everything else is so aggressively Christmassy that I don't think I can enjoy it at any other time! Like what kind of a lunatic drinks mulled wine outside of January?! 😅 Now those bottles are going to be cluttering up my cupboard until next Christmas.

Oh & the Christmas cake - which I still need to marzipan & ice 😬

Freeze it for next Christmas!

rollonretirementfgs · 09/01/2024 17:21

I have pickles coming out of my ears... what on earth do I do with 3 jars of pickled onions, 2 jars or cornichons and a jar of pickled cabbage??

Titsywoo · 09/01/2024 17:31

Some cheese left - will grate and freeze the hard stuff and wat anything else. A fair bit of chocolate which I have hidden from DH now and will probably give away. That's it as we didn't go mad and have already regifted food and drink gifts from colleagues etc.

BobnLen · 09/01/2024 17:34

We have some things but they have long dates on them so I have just left them in the pantry for during the year. Pringles aren't just for Christmas.
